So, I was thinking after the Young Justice thread, do any of you watch CN's other actions shows, not counting Clone Wars, and if you do, what do you think of them? I actually like all 3 but I know I have weird tastes at times; so, I really would like to know if anyone else enjoys them as much as I do.
Note: I am from Canada and do not get Cartoon Network, but rather it's unattractive cousin TELETOON!
I haven't seen Titan yet, I've only seen one episode of Generator Rex and it's alright.
Ben 10 is an odd series to watch. In the beginning it was for the most part had some terrible characterization, especially the tiresome bickering between Ben (Never learned my lesson) & (Mary Sue) Gwen. (For me) Alien Force fixed that by maturing not just Ben, but Gwen (even Kevin) too, well in the first and second season. The third kinda reverted Ben 5 years back.
I really haven watched much of Ultimate Alien, but from what I've seen is alright.
I just looked at the link you provided, and I didn't see Titan. Does Sym-Bionic Titan even come on Teletoon? Anyway, anybody who doesn't know what Sym-Bionic Titan it's a mecha show that was created by Genndy Tartakovsky, and I don't think I have to remind anybody of what he's worked on.
Sym-Bionic Titan is currently one of the best series I have ever watched. I was ready to call it quits with any action leads starring teenaged heroes until this graced my presence. What makes it so amazing is how poignant and graceful it is with their characters. None of them are filled with "attitude". They don't spout catchphrases and juvenile insults, so they don't feel like caricatures. Lance and Ilana are living, breathing characters. Octus, too is intriguing, designed not as some boring, dull automaton, but as someone who already has the necessary "human" emotions and continues to explore them further (him and Kimmie, adorable).
In fact, one of the reasons why I love this show is because they take certain stereotypical elements and mix them up, so they don't feel artificial. High school settings? Unlike many, it is not the major focus and is just one aspect that the alien trio must endure. This is about them embracing Planet Earth, not High School (which seems to be the center-of-attention to many with its setting). The cheerleader, starts off a jerk, but gradually becomes a better character. Lance, typical moody emo boy I usually don't like? Doesn't constantly whine about his past and what little we know of him, they are intriguing. Ilana, princess who wants to help people, including her classmates and not at all seeking popularity for shallow reasoning. The fighting are often brilliant in both choreography and execution - one of my personal favorite is the second episode where the main characters are fully aware that they are fighting in a neighborhood. They have to be careful NOT to kill anyone, a situation most shows wouldn't think of.
The animation is stunning and the music is gorgeous. I wish so much for an official soundtrack, but hardly any American shows get them. *grumbles* I could spent more paragraphs on how much I love this show. Never has a series captivated me so easily from its second episode onwards. Not even Avatar: The Last Airbender (it actually took till episode 18 of Season One before I realized it would be awesome).
I watched some Ben 10 (the original series) enough for me to not care about it due to the obnoxious main character. I did see more of Alien Force and his older self was more mature and tolerable, but I'm not interested. So no Ultimate Alien for me. Generator Rex isn't a bad show and I plan to give it another shot, but it again reeks of the "typical attitude teenager saving the world" and possesses none of the grace of SBT. It's...well, "Generic Rex".

Teletoon has yet to pick up Sym-Bionic Titan as they usually wait for the series to finish it's season first. I've heard of the show and I am interested in seeing it.
Rex is... meh!
So, I take that as a definte maybe on Titan from you, eh Neo?! Anyway, just checking, Neo, but you know Sym-Bionic Titan now comes on at 7 PM EST on Wednesday nights, right? Anyway, the first episode of the second season, the Ballad of Scary Mary, came on last Wednesday, but if you missed it, you can find it on YouTube. Anyway, I'm not a good critic or anything, but I think if you give Generator Rex a bigger shot than one or two episodes it is a lot deeper than it appears at first glance or even most eps. For instance, episode 19, "Promises, Promises," blew every preconception of the origin of several characters out of the water; I did not see anything they revealed of the characters past coming and it was awesome!!!

I watched the first eight episode of Generator Rex. I didn't like it. I have no desire to seek it any further anytime soon. It doesn't matter if it gets better, I don't need to waste hours watching something just so it can get to the "good parts". I stand by what I said. Sorry, but, the princess is in another castle.
Eh, that's fine, like I said in my first post , I can have weird tastes; things I like a lot of people won't. I just think I'm a sucker of most any story that pits the forces of good against those of evil even if the hero isn't a complete angel like Rex. Anyway, did you know about Sym-Bionic Titan's schedule change before I mentioned it?

Time schedules doesn't matter to me. I don't have cable. So I watch in other ways. XD
Ah, well, at least you know a new season is on!

Honestly, I felt like this at first but the show doesn't start picking up until after that and later episodes have a much better feel of quality than the earlier ones that made me appreciate GR that much more. I've only watched the first thirteen episodes, my favorite being episode twelve "Rabble" was the one that made me really synch with the show and really started using that potential the show always had but didn't use it correctly. I'd say that if you ever give the show another chance, there's nothing wrong with starting were you left off.
Doesn't help that a lot of Generator Rex episodes feel like filler, at least so far. But there have been couple of strong eps that put the characters and their relationships and/or pasts front and center, instead of just Rex slinging one-liners while fighting the Evo of the Week. But what the heck was the deal with introducing the "best friend" in the first ep and then pretty much ignoring him the rest of the season?
All in all, I guess I enjoy it? Well, I definitely enjoy whenever Van Kleiss is featured since then we get to hear that bad-ass theme of his.
Sym-Bionic Titan seems to enjoy skirting the fine line between clean, simple and efficient character designs (not to mention highly reminiscent of 70's-80's anime) and... uh, not. But at least the animation is top-notch. Several of the fight scenes, in-robot or otherwise, have great choreography and good flow. And who doesn't appreciate a good booty dance?
Ben 10 seems to be headed down a slippery slope, which can be attributed to new writers working on the show or so I've heard.
Not sure why Clone Wars is being excluded from the discussion. Here's a show that came in amid fan outcry and managed to hold its own.
Meanwhile, I await for the day someone creates an animation thread for action shows that lie outside of general U.S. mainstream channels. Though I suppose I can just wait until the dub begins airing.
Well, I opted to exclude Clone Wars cuz Star Wars is such a well-known and well-liked franchise while Ben, Rex, and Titan are fairly original even though Rex was based of a two issue comic series from Image.
Bumping because I just found out Titan was canceled. Gendy's working over at Sony now and after the next couple of eps it'll be over and done with.
also, the new episode that aired this morning: octus, why...
What! No, no, no, no, noooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!! Why!!!!!! It was such an awesome show! Dangit, so unfair! *sigh*

You have NO idea how much rage boiled inside of me (well, alright, not that exaggerated, it's just a cartoon) when I found out about this. Reportedly (ie, this source: http://animationguildblog...twork-of-cartoons.html), the reason why is because SBT isn't toyetic, which drives me bonkers because there were no toys of the show in the first place. And even further confusing because I'm trying to figure out why it can't be - the Sym-Bionic Titan itself, the separate bots, the human casts, the Mutraddi, all suitable potentials! I'm still thinking there's a more concrete reason out there on its cancellation because this explanation is just baffling.
This fills me with despair because if a series as subtle and artistic topped with gorgeous visuals and writing gets canned for yet another Ben 10 or Johnny Test, it just makes me fear kid's cartoons can't balance with shows like those and series like Sym-Bionic Titan and Avatar: The Last Airbender, the latter two tragically rare because, well, maybe Western animation isn't ready for those just yet, I don't know. My speculation could be horribly wrong, but it's currently how I feel. Maybe I'm just upset over its loss. Never stood a chance despite so much amazing potential.
... Damn!
I just finished watching episode 18 (after watching the other 17 episodes last week) and this show is gold, but it didn't surprise me that CN would cancel it after hearing the time & date change.
It's also annoying that we get another promising series that wont get a satisfying REAL conclusion.
