Well with the release of the new alterniaBound album there is no better time to start one. Radiation Fox is once again a musical god of love. I will be buying this one for sure <3

I was actually originally not that impressed with it, since the first several pages are humorous but not particularly exciting. But once you get into the story a ways, you realize it's not just a parody of adventure games, it IS an adventure story. It also gets considerably more epic both with Flash animations, music and sound, and in general tone as the adventure goes along.
The best part is that I haven't thus far seen any ads for this - it's been all word-of-mouth advertising that I'm aware of. Box was the one who first linked me, and I've seen others get infe-I MEAN UH told about it too as more time has gone by.
However, it should be noted that it uses a lot of foul language at times, often overdone for the humor factor; also various forms of innuendo and bloody violence. This may not be for everyone.
And a separate but perhaps more dire warning is that once you get involved in it, it is difficult to get out of it. Similar to TVTropes in that respect.
to be fair the first few pages of homestuck are slow and aimless because firstly it's introducing people to a new universe, secondly it was driven almost entirely by user input, which is a format that has been superceded by Hussie taking complete creative control as of Act 5 now that all of the core concepts are in place and understood, and also by consideration of the fact that it was immediately preceded by Problem Sleuth, which was user-controlled throughout and a lot more whimsicle, experimental and comedic than Homestuck.
fwiw i've been reading MSPA since about halfway through Problem Sleuth (thanks to Ryan), and happened to be the one to introduce susan to it, which is weird since she's now amore avid fan than i am

Yeah, it does kind of suck you in like that, delve too deep and you find yourself doing nothing else.

My interest in Homestuck began to steadily wane from the moment of the Hivebent "Intermission." I don't care for the trolls, and their respective speech impediments means reading their text logs is such a chore. I actually stopped reading for a bit during Hivebent and came back when it was done. I still like MSPA, just not as much as I used to.
You know, I kind of like the design of THE TUMOUR because I dig the whole black and white yin-yang thing, but isn't it a little dull?
I will say that I started enjoying the trolls much more starting with the first Alterniabound playable segment. I just think Hussie needed a better way to present their dialogue than ZOMG WALL OF TEXT
