During the final minute of Monday, April 11, the Japanese production company Aniplex confirmed that a television anime adaptation of the Persona 4 role-playing game from Atlus is in the works.
Seiji Kishi (Angel Beats!, My Bride is a Mermaid) is directing the project at AIC ASTA. Game franchise designers Kazuma Kaneko and Shigenori Soejima are credited with the Persona concept designs and original character designs, respectively. Similarly, the game's Shoji Meguro is composing the music. The cast, also retained from the original game, includes Daisuke Namikawa (Yu Narukami), Showtaro Morikubo (Yōsuke Hanamura), Yui Horie (Chie Satonaka), and Ami Koshimizu (Yukiko Amagi).
The Persona 4 game shipped for the Sony PlayStation 2 console in 2008. Its predecessor, Persona 3, shipped for the same system in 2006 and inspired the Persona -trinity soul- television anime series in 2008.
A late-night television commercial ran in Japan early Sunday morning and revealed that the http://www.mayonaka-tv.jp website that would carry the announcement. The personal computer version of the site already indicated that Aniplex, Index Corporation, and the "P4A Committee" were involved, while the Japanese mobile phone version of the site briefly listed "Persona 4 Animation" Sunday morning.
OH GOD YES. That is all, I have to spread the news.
Oh and look. Isn't today the day that The Main Character arrived in Inaba?
I see what they did there.
Yu Narukami
... I liked Seta Souji.
I guess there won't be a P4P after all. Just as well, there isn't much they can do to improve it/set it apart from the original.
I have to say, naming him "You" is a really good idea. I keep hearing the last name is an allusion to Izanagi and his lightning powers, but I'm too lazy to research.
Allow me to be the first to throw in a "Why?" as in;
"Why does anyone actually like this idea?"
or more importantly
"Why not something better from the Atlus stables, like Devil Summoner or even Jack Bros?"
I've played Persona 4, and honestly, I don't think it deserves the attention and praise that it got. That being said, I didn't think much of Persona 3 either. I'm also not seeing what can be done with this. Go through what happened in the game without any of the actual playing? At least with Devil Summoner, or (And yes I'm serious) Jack Bros, you could do something new being that they aren't tied down into one self contained story like the Personas.

Probably for NGP?
It only takes three words to spoil the entire plot of Persona 4, so I too am curious what exactly they plan on doing with this.
good finally i can see why you guys are so over this thing, i know what persona is but i never cared about it that much. it didnt appeal to me. maybe cause the dreamcast one was bad.
i wonder if you all are playing persona online too 0__0 its said to be the most popular online game.. sci fi rpg anyway.
I don't think you're thinking of the right franchise Mada. I wasn't aware of a game online or on Dreamcast. P4 is kind of like Pokemon and a dating sim meshed into one fantastic game.
There's a Shin Megami Tensei Online, but that's it. I'm not aware of any SMT games on the Dreamcast, unless you count Maken X (which I don't think you can).
psx knows me so well, its exactly as psx said. but isnt maken X persona?
though interstingly enough even though i played persona on the ps2 craig ... i dont remember it being a dating sim... or anything, it just didnt appeal to me and i totally blocked it from my head. oh well at least you persona fans can enjoy the online game when it gets the english version out.
so anyway i'm really looking forward to the anime, just like sonic X got me to love the new sonic, the persona anime might get me to love the games. that's their plan 😉
Is Mada thinking of Phantasy Star Online?
am i?
Don't look at me! o.o;
PSO is the online multiplayer experience that first debuted on the Dreamcast. It pretty much established the online console experience. But it has little in common with Shin Megami Tensei games in general so I don't know how anyone can confuse the two.
