Anyone who knows me should know where my tastes lie. Of course stuff outside of that isn't off-limits, but bear in mind unless it's really damn good, I'll likely dismiss it. If it's average quality, I probably won't bother.

if you aren't aware of my tastes:

Good:
Trad Metal
Doom Metal
Black Metal (pretty much all waves)
Swedish Death Metal
Progressive Rock
Shoegaze/Dream Pop
Hardcore Punk
Prog/Black
Black/Folk

Bad:
Metalcore
Deathcore
Nu-metal
Post-grunge
Progressive Metal
Indie Rock
Tech-death
Melodic Death Metal
Country
DSBM (Depressive Suicidal Black Metal)

Indifferent:
Classic Punk Rock
Classic Rock
90's OSDM (Old School Death Metal)
Melodeath
Rap/hip-hop (Don't hate it, just never cared for it either)

if you have no clue what a subgenre is, then ignore it because it obviously doesn't apply to you! Also note that no rec is really "off-limits" even if it's something listed under bad, I just *really* hate most of that style of music but there usually happen to be at least 2-3 bands from even the worst genres that are surprisingly enjoyable. Indifferent means that either I've never bothered with it or I like some of the stuff but never bothered to really dig deep into it.

Also if I don't like a rec, it isn't an insult to you personally, I just don't like it. I can be kinda harsh when it comes to music criticism, so don't take it seriously/personally.

Rec away!

The hell is 'post-grunge' anyway? Is it grunge post 1997?

Anyway, here to recommend 'Badmotorfinger'-era Soundgarden, particularly 'Rusty Cage', 'Room A Thousand Years Wide' and 'Jesus Christ Pose'.

Also, even though you're indifferent to rap as a genre, I gotta throw a general recommend out for Childish Gambino, mostly because he's a great wordsmith ("couldn't see me as Spiderman but now I'm spittin' Venom") and he has great instrumentals behind him. Main ones to check out from him are 'Be Alone', 'Freaks and Geeks', 'Hero' and 'Not Going Back' (I'm not linking these because they are NSFW language).

Post-grunge = Nickelback, Godsmack, etc.

I'm not really a huge stickler on lyrics, if that helps. I'm mostly interested in just good music.Besides a few foul words won't bother me, I've heard worse in my music before.

Also, post albums, not individual songs. I'm not interested in 1-2 cool songs, I want full albums that are 9/10 - 10/10 range essentially. If it isn't obvious, I'm an album guy.

I've definitely heard of soundgarden before, but again they fall under "I know who they are, just never listened out of laziness".

How do you feel about Electronica? Tiesto, The Glitch Mob, etc... (not like early Prodigy or Daft Punk, though. Theres a difference.)
