the initial sketch is pretty good. however, i think you made your lines too thick on the ink job, and didn't use enough line variation. it's not a bad attempt, but i suggest you try going over the sketch again, this time making the lines thinner but with varying degrees of thickness.

To me? I don't see a problem with doing a little shading work with the inking. Makes the sketch look a little more polished and you can always fix that in photoshop. Thats what layers are for, or at least what I use them for. >>

Thanks for the suggestions.

And now here is the colored version...featuring Lyrics from my favorite band Skillet!

I've also designated Rebirthing by Skillet as Mau's Theme.

Anyway...

teh Mau Colored!

shading work with the inking is fine, but here the lineart does seem a bit thick all over and due to that, it's lost some of the finer detail in the origional pencil drawing and looks a bit wobbly.
what did you use, a marker/felt tip? a fine liner or or inking pen might suit you better, and then using a thicker pen for shading/outlines/etc. ^^

I have to agree with what Deck and Becca has said, and that the inking lines for the picture, on a whole, are a bit too thick, and the detail and fluidity of the initial sketch have been lost a tad. As a whole the picture should have used thinner ink thickness, and from there your coloured image would look a lot crisper.

I really like your style, though.

I used a graphic pen. Probably the type used to make Manga and stuff...
I do appreciate the suggestions however, as well as the comments. A little constructive criticism never hurts to help make improvements! :)
However, the only thing is I'm broke, I'd assume the types of pens you mean you'd probably find in a craft section of a store or a specific arts and crafts store.
I'm currantly trying to develop a newer/better style of art even getting somewhat away from the Sonic style that I've used in the past. I know one thing I need to work on is how much I press into the pencial though when I'm pencialling, but once again thanks for the advice, I'll keep this in mind with the inking. I can probably try to either go more lightly with the inking for now though, or try to find alternatives.
