As time goes by, and misery flows by
Waves collide, ever side by side
Going nowhere, as does he
Through the desert, and the heat
To keep going, what a feat!
Never knowing, ever the River Styx
Forever growing, despite looming tricks
Forever he goes, despite what everyone knows
For that is bestowed, no matter his woes
For all his pride and honour, when it seems he can no longer
For all his might and weight, he surely cannot wait
So with a roaring thunder, he cries out "I cannot any longer"
And as he lays under, he looks on as he lay asunder.
I'm not sure I like how this poem turned out... but I'd like some opinions from you guys. Constructive Criticism is appreciated.
Nice poem, it's short and sweet. Just one question though: who is 'he'?
Whatever happened to drawing your own conclusion? >.>
"He" is a person who is going on a never-ending journey that can't possibly succeed. Hence the title "Darkness". He keeps going no matter what, so he is considered blind, or looking through darkness, which is where the name of the title comes from. "He" is no specific person in history, rather just an image. Actually, the meaning is very pessimistic though... considering the ending.
Thanks for the clarification, Hukos.
You're welcome. Why is it that you're the only one who posts on my poetry though...
I don't know. Ask everyone else who doesn't post on your poetry that question.
