Well, thought it was about time to revive an art threat of mine own, since the other ones disapperated into some unknown heck.
Nothing special to start us off though, mostly because it's 2 am, and I'm lazy. So what we have here is a couple of sketches, and one piece of lineart that I'm colouring. These are just things I do inbetween working on larger projects, like EE's comic, ormy degree, or the personality portraits of Crimson I'm working on, or the Cohort Saga, or disintigrating my liver.
First up, we have two quick sketches, done mostly while watching Wedding Crashers actually. On the left, we have the original Bob Beaky's Travelling Circus, the first four freedom fighters of fleetway, Sonic, Tails, Porker and Johnny! I attempted to emulate Matt Herms' style for this pic, mostly, to see if I could. It's quite fun to do that sorta thing occasionally, and it's quite a fun style =D
On the right, we have the big man himself, Robotnik. With a cape. *shrugs*
Next up, heeeeres Wolfy! Old School wolfy! This is back in the Cohort Saga era, again, just playing around. The shading on these three doodles was done as a whim...
Finally, we have, a human version of the G1 transformer, Cliffjumper! *shrugs* I like his hair =)
EDIT: O_o @ First pic resize and transparent Cliff
EDIT2:
Because listening in lectures is for fools, I give you, something I doodled during a pysics lecture...On my notes!
I havn't been reading to much GPF recently and am affliceted with that simple effective art style, noooo....
Okay, time for some replyage!
1st pic: EYEBROWS! XP Neat drawing, think on the left side you did great at emulating Herms's style. I don't know much about Fleetway, have only seen the issues that have been STC Online, but it's kinda neat to learn that those were the original FF for that series. Eggman on the right, in a way it looks kinda funny how his moustache is coming out the sides of his nose rather than underneath it, to be honest. But I like the shiny eyes, and the uniform with cape makes me wanna see what you could do with an entire outfit for the Big Round Guy.
2nd pic: Getting a general idea of what Crim looks like in your stories from this one, can also see some Herms influence here as well. The shading for both pics was fairly simple, yet effective and it works well with the relatively straightforward lines and design. There is a grittier feel to this pic overall, maybe because of the paper itself or because of the remnants of old lines, but it adds to the picture rather than distracting or taking away from it. Plus I like the straps and gloves and things, little details like that are just nifty things to add onto a character that I like for some reason. Makes a character feel more "full" that way.
3rd pic: Crisp, clean feeling, neat looking human drawing there. I like the hair too. This comes across well to me, perhaps because of its simplicity and yet it creates the picture fully even with the fewer lines - the lines are well-placed to create all of the necessary illusions, like cheekbones and neck muscles.
4th pic: Looks like a humanized Crim (or just a pic of you XP) to me! Again with the use of simple lines to create more complicated appearances, and the hair over the eyes makes this look like it could be an angry pic, or a sad pic, or even just an indifferent pic emotionally - all in the eye of the beholder.
Hope that input helps/offers perspective and context/reaffirms that people do see your art ^^
Oh I thought you meant "Herms" as in something with hermaphrodites. Boy, I'm glad I thought wrong. I like the first three drawings, but for some reason the fourth one... not so much. My favorite is the second. I love the style it's in.
-snrrrk- @ Wes
I giggled mightly at your thought, but no, nothing to do with hermaphrodites here =P Thanks muchly for your comment, and the fourth pic? *shrugs* Can't win 'em all I guess. Hehe, I may have to use that style again sometime then ^^
And indood! @ EYEBROWS! XD @Terg
Yeah, these four were the first, in the sense that they were the only one's left out of his takeover majiger, but they gained others pretty fast ^^ And I have a couple of outfits for the big-guy Just...all of them set in various alternate universes ^^;
Hehehe, gritty drawing, or just messy? YOU decide, and yeah, the random straps that comprised Crim's original costume...hehehe, could you imagine that on him NOW? Although I'm tempted to draw what someone suggested once, Maggie in a slightly modified version of Crimson's costume, though I don't think I'd post it here <.<
Lines in the third pic are neat thanks to the miricle of Flash ^^ It's snazzy =D
Emotions? Well, I was bored, and just picked a pose and went with it =P
I must admit that when I first saw Herms's name, I was thinking the same thing that Wes was thinking.
Like father like son, eh? XP
No new art unfortunatly, been rather busy of late, and the only time I have had spare has been devoted to comic schtuff.
So I'll just plug the fact the newest WolfTigerFox is up! (phear the bland default comicgen layout!)
*adds to list of comics*
*dances a happy dance*
Wait...if people read it...that means I have to update... <.<
Still nothing half decent ready to show, so here's a man tied to a pole, enjoy =D
Edit: Okaydokey, now for some previews of what I intend to be working on after what I'm currently working on, the next thing I have lined up to work on, and inbetween stuff I constantly work on... Some of you may have seen the older parts of this...
First up:
A nice, defining pic of Amy! But not the normal Amy, this is the amy from my alternate universe, SonicAU. In that universe, Amy is more of a tomboy, and is, at least to start, the gang's core greasemonkey. All that writing is about her hammer there, which is far more than just a lump of metal.
Next, trying to pin down a good design for the RoKiExosuit, or as it is more colloquially known by the police who use it, the Enker suit:
As modelled by one of the characters, infact, Dr Robotnik's assistant. Who refused to remove his lab coat, go fig. The Enker suit is designed for protection of police officers in conditions when sending in robots would be innefective, due to changing circumstances, negotiations, what haveyou. Robotnik has one, because he helped create the things
And all those ring bits. They are power rings. Which are quite different in this universe.
As for more characters, Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Nack, Ivo, Mightyand Ray all have old, probably to be upgraded redesigns. I'd elaporate more on the characters, the changes, the universe.
But I really don't want to. =P
I will answer any questions about these pics though ^^
If forgot to mention seeing Johnny L up there. You get super happy Rico points for that. And now you get even more for Ray. o.o
~Rico
Heh, yeah, Johny never gets enough love, he was, for some reason, always my fave StC character ^^
And Ray, to be fair I know nothing about him, so *shrugs* I shalt play =D
Edit:
Nothing really new to show, a bunch of unfinished doodles really, and nothing Sonic related...
So heres a work in progress I didn't really have time to start
EDIT: You fixed them.
Indood I did!
Though the heads up was appreiciated, as I wouldn't have noticed if you hadn't replied =3
And now, finally, a recent finished piece!
www.deviantart.com/view/31500479/
The Slayer. A sorta, inverted skunk vampire hunter type dealy. Yeah.
Ka-bump!
Yep, something new, at last.
Nearly 2 years ago or so now, I designed a group of characters on my younger brother's request. The description was very loose, seven echidnas, one for each Chaos Emerald, and I had to include the one he designed (which looked exactly like knuckles, but with some circuit bits =)
So I did, and I liked them.
The other day, I was bored. So I decided to start re-tooling them (ignoring the backlog of comics and revision I needed to do, oy). Mostly they didn't need much, I liked the plain, simple styles I had given them. But they needed names, personalities other than what I had assigned in my head. And since my brother wasn't using them, I decided to do it.
Sooo....
This is the second one I designed, The Yellow Chaos Guardian, now happily renamed Sekar.
Despite apperances, Sekar dosn't angst, except occasionly over being typecast as angsty. What I have in mind for him personality wise, is that he is actually fairly happy go lucky, bright, quite smart. But very naive, and has a tendacy towards a short temper where people messing with his friends is concerned.
He's also Aquakinetic, and can breathe underwater. Webbed hands and feet FTW.
The first designed one, Deifenbaker (Cyan), I won't post here, due to rude hand gestures, but he can be found in my DA gallery.
Deif is not a nice guy. He's rude, obnoxious, overconfident, racist, and believes himself god's gift to echidnakind. He's also Cryokinetic, and probably the best fighter.
More to come? Maybe. I've got other things to do first ^^;
Upitydate! 12th May
Lets talk Radical Ian Prower.
He is one of my Mobius Forum characters. Though really he's up for NPCing most (any) of the time.
I came up with him one night, when I decided to make MFW Crims a bartender. A bartender needs a bar, thus the RP bar was spawned. RP couldn't just stand for role play, and it couldn't be owned by Crims (Hah, that would be a way of loosing sooo much money.) Thus I decided to create Radical Ian "Radians" Prower.
When I created him, a coupla months back now, I had a specific goal in mind. I wanted his name and species to be everything of all bad Sonic Mary-sue Gary-stu fancharacters everywhere. You see the name Radical Prower, and you think "Oh dear god it's a Tails clone with all the powers of Thor, Zeus, Hera and The Fonz." However, I wanted him to be in actuality, NOTHING like your average overpowered recolour. And I wanted him to be green.
Thus, his backstory came about, a mix of silly and serious, but at no point does it involve any world saving hijinks. He's just *gasp* and ordinary, non-powered guy.
...
With a silly name ;P
~~~~~
"Radians" Prower owns the RP bar in Sega City, and his intrests involve money, and half-baked schemes to make the bar more popular.
Born to a pair of... not entirely coherent... beatniks, Radical is the foxes actual forename, though many simply call him by his middle name, Ian. Given up for adoption, Ian was raised in an ophenage, and was given the surname Prower, a common fox surname, when the beatniks refused to give theirs, claiming that the Man would use it against them.
When he left the orphanage, Radians started work on his dream of owning his own buisness in hotels and resturants.
He fell short by miles.
Now on the far side of 40 (43 to be precise), Radians is still wanting to expand his buisness, but can't get any further than his bar. Albiet, its a farely successful bar, and it has a tendancy to bounce back better than before whenever something bizarre tears through the city, but his... less than sensible, promotion schemes often keep him tethered down. He also is an active speaker for NPC rights and equalities, including advocation for warning ID on PCs, but nothing extreme. He also speaks out against the violence that some of his fellow NPCs perpetuate.
A happy, if a little lecherous, bachalor. Radical's life of ale, ciggarettes and fried food have certainly had an impact on his health, and he has had a first warning heart attack already. But still carries on as he always has.
Updated AGAIN 13th may....
Silver the hedgehog. Weeeeeeee ^@
Full size here =3
Scanner ate this. With chips and onion rings.
Nice illustrations, mate! It must feel good to draw other characters than Patch, eh? ^^;
Sorta, but it feels like I'm avoiding both revision, work I need to do, and sleep. Silver here is one reason I was dead at Bristol. Mmmmm.... No sleep for wolfy...
Ka-BUMP!
Just a couple of doodles here, since I havn't drawn any actual straight-up non-comics in a while, I decided to finally colour Gerald the Echidna. A cyborg echidna, what an original concept, like there arn't millions of THEM about.
However, mine glows =P
Night night.
somehow, he has very creepy eyes, which gain extra creepy-ness with the glow-in-the-dark version. o-o;
*has feelings they'll haunt her tonight!*
serious tho', i do like the glowing touch. it adds to his mechanical bits. ^^
I really should log in to devart more. Maybe even fix and upload some GOOD storm photos and not pics of icecubes.
You get better everytime I see a pic Crimmy. That pic of Kev is still one of my favorites.
~Rico
Love the arts, man. I think you have a nice grip on furries and I reall like your style.
The second pic on the first post owns.
Rico and Wolfy T: Thanks Muchly =3
Now, it's been yonks, but I havn't actually been drawing much, so what HAVE I got?
Magenta Darkwolfe, dressed as a chav! Mostly because I just felt like it =D Maggie is totally not a chav though, in any way shape or form ^^;
A ninja catgirl because they are cool. Duh.
Yet another iteration of Crim! Rock and Ride, brothers!
And now, this was a request from SX, that I havn't sent to him yet, because I havn't caught him online since I sent it >.> But, to share, I give you;
SX (Dressed to Kill)
Biker Mice FTFW, Crim! =D
I know, arn't they just godly =3
And silly me, I forgot to put in the picture that was the whole point of this update.
Ka-bump
Well, because I was bored the other day, I though, what would Crim look like as various Final Fantasy classes.
So I decided to draw them. First up: Dragoon!
(Will, eventually, be coloured)
A Dragoon was the logical place to start, since when I designed crim originally, I did actually have Kain Highwind (I think that's the right name) from FF4 in the back of my mind, which is why the first few pics all have the same pose from the front of the box. It's also the original reason for that oversized, unwieldy weapon of his.
Now, Crim would make a pretty good Dragoon class. He's got the strength needed to sport heavy armour, his primary weapon preference is spears and polearms, and he can, if needed, boost his jumps quite well. Also, just imagine his long hair on the way down from a jump. Imagine it. Yessss.
Everytime I see a picture from you Crim it gets better. Remind me to like commission one of the new Toby or something.
~Toby
Wow, that is pretty cool. Kain's definitely one of the cooler FF characters, so not a bad class to go by.
Ta muchly for the comments guys =3 That pic has it's flats done, and is just waiting for me to get round to shading it =D
But that didn't stop me droodling up another class, Blue Mage!
Yep, Crim would definatly make a decent blue mage, since he can learn magic stuff by watching, and really, that's what they are all about. He'd be mediocre with that sword though XD
Those looks awesome. Poor old Crimmy one-shoe.
