Prolouge
Nathan ran down the dark alleyway as fast as he could, sweat dripping off of his nose. "How did they find us" he thought to himself. They had been so careful , they made sure that they didn't leave behind anything that could link them to where they were going. He then heard footsteps coming in his direction. Nathan quickly jumped onto the nearby roof of a house and drew his .44 Magnum. He checked the ammo in the pistol to avoid any misfires that may occur. He looked over the side of the roof to discover that the man following him was not there.
"You think you can hide from them on a roof" said a mysterious voice from behind him.
He turned around and pointed his gun about to fire. He quickly realized that it was his friend and ally, Sean. Sean had a very pale complexion (which is to be expected considering he's a vampire). Nathan always figured it was his light blue eyes that allowed him to seduce women.
"You got away, that's great" said Nathan trying to sound happy. His wife, Lori was still missing as was there other partner, Douglas.
"Nathan, I know what you're thinking" Sean said trying to cheer up his friend. "Lori and Douglas are fine, I'm sure they got out."
"Well, what do we do know?" Nathan asked feeling slightly better, his wife was pretty strong and Douglas could handle almost any situation.
"As much as I want to wait for them to come back, we can't risk it" Sean said still trying to soothe his friend's wounds.
"You're right, we have a mission to fulfill" As he said this he stood up now ready for what lied ahead. Together the two friends quickly exited the town and continued on their way to destiny.
Well, I hope you guys liked this, it's my first time writing my own work. Feedback would be greatly appreciated and chapter 1 will be up on Sunday.
Chapter 1: With Friends like These
The alarm went off and David woke up to another day. He walked over to his dresser where the sound was emanating from and quickly turned it off and thus his daily ritual had begun. He quickly got into the shower after which he took some time to stare at himself in the mirror, something he didn't do very often. His dark brown eyes reflected back at him. His hair had gotten longer since he last looked in the mirror, it was now down to his shoulders, but it was as black as ever.
He quickly looked away not wanting to waste too much time and went to go get changed. His mother was still working; she always worked the late shifts at the hospital.
He was ready for school now and quickly went outside to wait for his bus. While he was waiting, a weird sense came over him, like he was being watched, but nobody was around. He shrugged it off and soon the bus came.
As always his best friend Ryan was sitting in the front seat.
"How was your weekend?" Ryan said.
"The same old, watched TV, played on the computer" as David said this he thought about how many interesting stories he had when he was still dating Rachael.
David and Rachael had been going out for the better part of two years, and they never did the same thing twice together. They went skiing one weekend the next time it would be snowboarding. David's weekends were always more interesting back then. Unfortunately, they broke up when David caught her kissing another man.
"Yeah I'm fine" David said rubbing his eyes to try and stop the tears.
The rest of the ride was awkward, with both of the men saying nothing until they got off the bus and went into school.
Inside, Colin was waiting for them, they spent most of Homeroom talking about Fallout 3 and how there should be vehicles in it. Ryan and James didn't notice it but David did. It was Rachael and she was with…him again.
Mike Arndt, the man she cheated on him with. David couldn't believe it, especially since he was better looking than Mike.
Mike had dirty blonde hair that gave him a "Rocker" look and came down to his shoulders. His light blue eyes almost ruined the entire look though. As for Rachael she had light blonde hair only slightly longer than Mike's. She also shared Mike's eyes.
He stared at them making out completely dumbfounded, that is until Mike left and Rachael spotted him. David quickly turned away and back into the conversation at hand.
Like usual, the rest of the day went pretty normal, until the end of the day. Rachael was outside waiting for David. He tried to avoid her, but she caught on.
"Hey, I need to talk to you" she said.
"About what?" he questioned, hoping it wasn't about the morning.
"About Mike and I" she said smiling
"I don't want to talk about that" he said trying to get away from her again.
"Yeah, well you can just listen then" Rachael said.
This made David spin around to hear her reasoning for cheating on him.
"Yeah, Mike and I are going out" she said looking down at the ground.
"Just get to the point" David yelled "why did you cheat on me?"
"Because I didn't see us going anywhere" After hearing this David promptly left.
He spent the bus ride home talking about it with Ryan. Who didn't offer a lot in words of encouragement, other then "oh well" or "that sucks."
David went home feeling the most depressed he ever had. He went up to his front door got his key out and opened it. Before he stepped inside a voice from behind him spoke "About time you showed up, we've been waiting all day."
He quickly turned around to meet a pair of light blue eyes staring into his. He looked at the man's smile and saw something unusual, fangs. David fell over backwards and landed on the floor of his house.
"Mind, if we have a word?"
Okay so there's Chapter 1 of my pet project Messiah, I hope you guys liked it. I understand this chapter was a little melodramatic, but don't worry the next couple of chapters will more than make up for it. As always, comments are strongly appreciated (as well as questions) and I'll have chapter 2 up next week.
Chapter 2: The Golden Bullet
David was petrified, a vampire, impossible, they don't exist, and yet one stood in front of him. David began to scream at the top of his lungs, he had hoped it would wake his mother but what the vampire said next shattered that hope.
"You know she can't hear you right?" Sean said with a smirk on his face.
"What…WHAT DID YOU DO TO HER?" David screamed.
"Me, I didn't do anything, it was the man upstairs that did all the work, we just had to track you down" David noticed something, Sean had said "we."
David looked behind Sean to see that he had brought friends. The first a rather tan skinny man with spiked black hair, this guy obviously wasn't a vampire. The next was a tall, attractive black-haired woman; the two looked to be a couple.
"Oh, I see you finally noticed Nathan and Lori" Sean said still with that smug look on his face. "There not vampires like me, so don't worry about them."
"What did you do to my mom?" David said, getting a little more courage despite the disadvantage.
"Don't worry, she's still alive, we just sound-proofed this room" Sean said walking towards the now standing, David.
"How did you find time to sound-proof this room since I've been gone?" David said, becoming very suspicious as to what was going on.
"I didn't do that, it was God" Sean said pointing to the roof.
"So this is what, some holy mission, God sent you to kill me, is that it?" David said backing away from Sean's advances.
Sean and his friends laughed for a good minute over until Sean spoke, "You think we're here to kill you" they then broke into more laughter.
"Then what are you here for?" David said, more suspicious then ever before.
"We're here to deliver your destiny" Sean said.
"My destiny?" David questioned.
"I believe its Nathan's turn to speak" Sean said as Nathan came to the front of the group.
"David, you've been chosen by God" Nathan said, the look in his eyes told David that he wasn't lying, or that he thought he wasn't.
"Chosen, for what?" David was beginning to think these people were crazy.
"You've been chosen to become the Messiah" Nathan said this so proudly, as if David should think this was the truth.
"The Messiah, as in Jesus Christ?" David was actually starting to laugh.
"Not exactly, it won't make sense to you now but, afterwards it will" Nathan said grabbing something out of his back pocket.
"After what?" David was getting a little annoyed, but what happened next changed that feeling back into fear
"After we hit you with this" Nathan said pulling out his pistol.
"Whoa, wait put that away" David screamed, his face had gone as pale as Sean's.
"Oh yeah, I'm sure this looks pretty bad" Nathan then unloaded his gun and took out the bullets in it.
In the small group of bullets there was one that stuck out. Nathan picked this one up and place between his index finger and thumb.
"Here, this is the important thing" Nathan said showing David a golden bullet.
"Yeah, so you have a gold bullet?" David was still scared stiff, he was going to die.
"Don't you see, this bullet is the only gold one I have it appears when I have a message from God to give to you" Nathan was trying to be convincing, but was failing.
"Do you expect me to believe this?" David said still scared witless. "If you're going to shoot me, just do it already"
Nathan looked at Sean and Lori before he spoke "Alright then."
David closed his eyes as Nathan cocked the gun, and with one shoot David had fallen to the floor, the odd thing was, there was no blood.
Alright, I know it's been longer than a week but I've been kinda busy. So, sorry to anyone who reads this (if anyone reads this?) I'll try and have the next chapter up before too long. As always your questions and comments are greatly appreciated.
Awesome story, Swanson.
If anyone cares I'm not going to be concluding this story here, instead I'll be concluding it here, for those interested.
Thanks for the link, Swanson.
