umm yeah here is my art its really not that good though but well see what ya think. callihanclan.deviantart.com/scraps/
ok thanks
A few helpful tips for ya, Nack:
Helpful Tip #1: Try to avoid double-posting - the edit feature is pretty handy.
Heplful Tip #2: Give the topic some time for people make a post commenting about your work. Not everyone here visits Carnival Island, ya know?
And now, on-topic:
I had a look at what you had up there. It's pretty cool. I'm kinda partial to sketches, as there's something about their style which makes me go "ooooh" with awe. The Venom Sonic sketch I liked, and same goes for Sonic vs Silver Sonic 2.
As I said before, pretty cool artwork. And welcome to the board. =D
Also, note, sometimes the posts in this particular board are as slow as molasses. I'll check your stuff out when I get a chance.
That's some pretty nice work you've got there,
I especially like the silver sonic one.
May I make a few suggestions, though?
-Get photoshop or another program to touch up your pictures and add some fine lines. Nothing says 'unprofessional' like looseleaf lines and wrinkles in the page, or still-visible erased lines.
-Add backgrounds. There is nothing that makes a picture look more unfinished than a character floating in an empty white void.
-Try to keep your characters on-model. I'm not saying this is a problem you have, but something to watch out for in general. Too many good pictures have been ruined by an arm bending akwardly on a misshapen face. It happens to me all the time.
Apart from that, though, you've got real talent there.
Keep up the good work, junior.
i someday hope to work at archie but i dunno if ppl would like me art in the comic... im well rounded with chars but u should never stop practicing with chars.. but yeah i hope to work at archie someday
what the others said is true, so take heed of it. this is one of the slowest forums here, and replies tend to come slowly. if you've read the forum rules, then you'd know to be patient.
most of the advice i'd have given you has already been said, so i'll add that i think that you need to practise alittle more, for if you want to work for archie, you'll need to be able to draw characters from any angle, pose and with any expression. they'd need you to draw backgrounds and design things as well, so work on that too!
pressing the paper down onto the scanner carefully will help reduce the patches of greyness, and using the cropping tool will make the image smaller and neater (by leaving out the holes down one side of each bit of paper) and try scanning at 300 dpi if you haven't been already doing that. ^^
Well, working at Archie is a dream which is quite possible these days. Quite a few free-lance artists have been hired off-and-on over the past few years. Even one of the forummers here has done a few issues.
So, there's a lesson to be learnt in all this: Keep practising, and improving upon your work, and you'll reach your goal.
Corny, I know, but it works.
my friends at school tell me im alot better artist then some of the ppl that work on the comics already... i dunno who they r talking about i like wb's work but sometimes i wonder how alot of the other artists got their jobs...
yeah, but that's your freinds at school. the people in the comic industry tend to have much, much higher standards.
click here, to read WB's own post on how he draws his comic pages. it shows his portfolio work that he sent in to apply for the job (so you can see what they're looking for), plus his penciled pages that he sends in to be inked.
Edit: his online portfolio might be more of an help, as the links in his topic don't all appear to be working.
sigh yeah i dont think i have what it takes to work for archie.. i have tried to contact wb to ask him some stuff but he hasnt answered me ever.. i have sent 'em examples of my work and nothin... apparently alot of ppl dont like me.. i doubt ill be able to work at archie... especially when no one else seems to think so either... im kinda on my own when it comes to support..
WB is an extreamally busy guy, he's never replied to any message i've sent him either.
so i doubt you'll get much of an answer from him any time soon.
did you send archie a proper portfolio of your art, or did you just send random pictures?
you're giving up so easily? you shouldn't! o.o everyone in the comics industry gets turned down at some point, even many, many times. what you do is just get a thicker skin and keep slogging. listen to the advice people give you and keep practising!
it's taken me over 6 years myself to progress from mere scribbles to my style from today..and i'm still trying to improve myself! so keep at it.
well who ami kidding my art isnt good... i dont have what it takes to do anything like work for archie...sure id love to.. but thats not gonna happen...
that's certainly a negative frame of mind to get into. i say that you should keep practising and don't give up..you never know what the future will bring.
hey guys im back! im sure i wasnt missed much so ill go right on to the point ive added several pics to my deviantart account some sonic, mario,.. trgiun and other misc. themes so i hope you all take a look at 'em and tell me what'cha think thanks!
I really like the style you've got going! That sketchy, cartoon feel I love to bits. Keep it up! Your work is great! I've put a watch on you too.
Nice gallery. That Fawful Chao is great; I can never get the heads right on Chao personally. Plus, it's from Mario and Luigi, which is awesome.
Hey its been about a month or so i have several pics added so check them out whenever ya get the chance thanks
Hey, nice work! Really like the pics! They look very natural for you, like you didn't need resource material. Like you just drew them from memory. They look great!
Noticed chao have been popping up more and more recently. Finally, the little guys are getting recognition in the world!
I still have a lot to learn about using computer programmes to neaten up my drawings and make them look better.
(By the way, Chao! The comic Part 3 coming up within the next few days).
But, again, the pics are great! Keep up the hard work!
Hey thats some good art. I like the Sonic and the care bear one, but my fravourite has to be Sonic birdie. How about a knuckles birdie? Also the Sonic and Amy ones are dead cute.
it might be hard cus of knux's gloves lol but i could draw an eggman and tails birdie im sure lol.. and one of my fave pics on there would have to be eggman's new toadie
