Warning: Long winded, as I'm bored and cannot work because of lack of floppy drives.
Y halo thar, everyone. You may or may not recall me ever posting a topic pertaining to this, but about a year ago I released my plans for a five-part book series. Since then, I have been working diligently and am nearing completion of the first book.
Work first started four or five years ago, when I gave a small idea (more like a basis and an ending) to a friend of mine, alias Kataroe. (You don't know him, I'm afraid) Together, we formed together and brought our ideas, characters, and plot ideas into one massive, six-hundred year plotline. (The books just reference this, so don't worry about uber-length.)
My starting idea, and overall basis for the story started with something I like to call the 'Three-Powers System,' a utilization of the mythical abilities of the mind, body, and spirit.
You should be well aware of how the body works, so I won't go into detail with that, and only wish to state that everything physical in this would be in synch with what we would be able to do; anything otherwise is a result of the other two powers. In other words, no natural ten-feet high super jumps.
The mind utilizes the powers of telekinesis, mind-reading, illusionary arts, and other important mental aspects of our beings. Merely imagining such things can have infinite possibilities about the world around you. But, the denizens of our world must be limited in their use of such things, as the mind is not all-knowing, and has its limits in fortitude and comprehension.
The spirit is based on the age-old gaming addage of the four elements. Fire, water, wind and... LIGHTNING! (Earth is far too solid, and doesn't match along with the others, if you are to ask me, which you didn't, but I concur) Together, they create light, and a space devoid of all four creates darkness. Emotions are the soul's energy source, and the less you have, the more dire the consequences.
You may feel as if I have given away far too much in this, but I've merely scratched the surface. I could still tell you about the many different arts included in these powers, which number well over twenty in total, plus, I have given literally zilch in actual storyline.
Please. Criticize to the ultimately supreme dictation you have in your ability. I will post my prolouge tomorrow, as I should probably be with in a floppy drive. But anything more would probably be overdoing it.
