This is role-play related, but it fits better here than cluttering up y'all's guild hall.
At the top of the year, as part of the effort to kick my group's rp efforts into gear, I started a "Role-Play Handbook" project, which would be meant as a universal how-to for people doing forum rp, tabletop, what have you. Here's the original call for help from January, since I don't really want to reword it:
Quote:
I wonder if anyone is up to participating in a group project. Everything is voluntary, and you can do as much or as little as you want. We would be pulling together to create a role-playing primer, composed of five chapters from beginner to gamemaster, meant to provide information for people of any skill level. It would be in the same format as we had going here for a while, with RP101 being the most basic, all the way up to Gamemastering which is 500-level. This would then become the role-playing guide for not only the SVT Underground, but also Crystal Plains and any other site who wishes to use it.
The guide could be posted here by chapter. Then, to keep it from getting lost to the ages like all our previous efforts were, I would copy, archive, and upload all the chapter to their very own subdomain at my website, Crystal Plains. There it could be viewed by anyone, added to or revised periodically by other contributors. All credit would be given plainly, and the rights of the respective authors completely protected be me and any other staff we get in the future.
As a starting off point, I've made up a list of sixteen chapters, in five categories, that would be a good framework for a role-playing book. Any other topics could be suggested and they will be added. If you'd like help with information for a topic, I'd be more than happy to help with an outline.
Since then, I've installed a wiki, so it's going there instead. The table of contents and all progress (what little there is) can be viewed here:
cpwiki.crystalplains.net/...g_Handbook
If anyone who likes the role-play wants to help out with this, it would be greatly appreciated. While this is one of my passions, I don't claim to know everything there is, so someone else's input would be very much valued =3
W00t! The mary sue litmus test! I thought I'd lost this! :3
Do you at all like your character?
Do you at all hate your characters?
Are they ugly?
Are they pretty?
Do have have scars?
Do they not have scars?
Do they have any defining traits?
Do they not have any defining traits?
And all these mean the character is a mary sue.
And ones that say stuff like introducing your character and describing your character? Pure comedy. I remember dieing laughing at this when Harley showed it to me. HEHEHE!
Ok, ok, anyway, I'd be glad to help. If nothing else to get rid of that test that says all new characters should be generic lumps of beige with no heroic qualities at all.
Do you want me to start editing it or what?

Erm, okay... That post was kind of confusing... o.o;
But, er, yeah, if you wanted to write a chapter or contribute something to a chapter, or just add some general ideas to the overall concept, please do.
I forgot to add before, but there are some chapter summaries in this thread; didn't really feel like copying that much text again.
It was. It was written over the course of the day in small 3 word sections when I got time at work.
I don't think you were around for that incident anyway. Harley posted the same "mary sue" test thats linked to your wiki. It's quite possibly the funniest RP related thing I've seen since that fanfic "SonicSSJ32423 versus mechashadowthemutantcyborgclone: arachy on mobis".
Anyway, in the event I'm not busy shooting pixels or working I'll give it a read through. See what I can add.

Oh... I think I get what you're trying to go for here. You want something like the D20 system, right?

NO.
He wants something that could be transfered to a whole document later with little editting and it could be a story. Not a script OR a Dragonball episode.

Alright. I finally read it. Forget that last post I made. You threw me off with the word 'Handbook'.
