Well, I was searching through my computer the other day and discovered this MoFo story I wrotea couple of years ago. Since I have an ambition to be a published author I've been writing a book for a while ago, but before that i tried my hand at some Sonic fanfiction stories and a small series of Swifthom stories set in the MoFo...
To be honest, most of them were dire, but this, the 4th in the Swifthom series (with no connection to the first three which were dire) wasn't actually bad. It was a joint story where Nights Kitty leant me use of her character (anyone remember NK, great artist used to come here a lot?)
So I penned this, and posted it and forgot about it. I found it the other day, and skimmed through it and it's not THAT bad, probably the first decent thing I ever wrote.
So with a few more corrections and an added scene, I present to you Nights Kitty and Swifthom in: Out of Time...
13: Going to the Top
It was a beautiful night; a full moon, the wind gently blowing through the trees, the stars lighting up the ground allowing her to see roughly where they were going. She knew where she was going anyway, she had been there so many times before that she could find her way with her eyes closed, but no matter how many times she went there the view took her breath away. It was absolutely stunning, looking out at the trees, the lake and the mountains. It was a perfect picture, reminding her of why she had become an artist, she remembered coming here before, looking out at the view, she wanted to draw a picture that was as wonderful as this view was, not that she could ever succeed.
But she would this time, she had her pen, her notebook, she was even carrying a foldaway deckchair. She would sit there for hours if need be and sketch it, her finest picture ever, she felt so proud.
Nights, her Chao, chirruped on her shoulder in annoyance as he wondered why they werent moving. He was small and bored easily, unable to stay still for more than a few minutes at a time. Laughing, she stroked him fondly as she walked towards the cliff edge. She remembered the path from her youth, not that she could remember much else, most of it was a mystery to her. But she remembered this path, she had walked down it many times, both in and out of her memory, not that it bothered her. She couldn't care about her lack of memory, it was the past, forgotten, ancient history, not like it mattered anyway, she didn't like to dwell on it for to long.
She paused looking up at the last incline before they got to the top, it was steeper than she remembered. "Almost there Nights." She smiled as she strode on, up to the top to look out once more over the view, a view she had not seen in years and wanted to see again so desperately. Her footsteps increasing she nearly raced up the climb, she nearly reached a run she was so eager but had to stop when she nearly ran out of breath. At last she was there, slowing to a stop at the top of the hill and looking out over the view, letting out a deep luxurious sigh of delight.
There were the mountains, there were the trees, there was the lake with the moon shining down illuminating the whole scene. It wasnt just like a postcard, it was better than a postcard because it was real. The breeze was real, catching her clothes and cooling her down, the smell was real, fresh and pure. She could see the beauty, but she could also see something else; at the edge of the lake was a small tiny ant black figure messing about with a tiny pinprick of light. Standing next to what appeared to be a gigantic bonfire, the light touched the edge of the bonfire, and a tiny distant fuse lit, the man turned and walked of into the trees disappearing, as the bonfire went up in flames.
She watched disgusted as smoke arose from the bonfire, as the flames licked higher than the trees, as the bright yellow whirling masses of ember spread out. Then suddenly a large blue light lit up the fire, and an explosion took place. She couldn't hear it, she could only see it, the blue light expanding outwards, like a shockwave. It spread out in every direction, billowing towards her in a gigantic blue wave. As it passed it grew thinner and thinner as the arc spread out and when it finally reached her it was barely there at all, fading away to nothing. She felt nothing, no change at all from its passing, barely even a slight tingle. She looked at her chao who looked back at her sadly, and then at the sight the explosion had started. There was nothing there, it was as if the fire had burnt itself out and the remains smouldered away years ago.
She looked about for whoever had done this and by squinting she could just make out, in a clearing the other side of the forest, a man step out of a car, and put some binoculars to his face to look down at the bonfire. His black frame standing out, but even at this close she couldnt see his features. She watched the man for a moment, then sighed. "Come on Nights, I'm not in the mood to draw the picture now." Nights made an upset noise and she shook her head. Maybe tomorrow, She took one last look at the man and the car a mile away, at the smouldered heap that had been a bonfire, and then turned to go back down the path she had came from.
Feet away from the car she had been watching Swifthom removed the binoculars from his face and let out a broad grin. That was the last done with; no more shipments, no more cloak and dagger, no more hiding from everyone. At long last Markson's forbidden technology was all gone now, destroyed, safe again.
He just hoped he hadn't missed anything when he had removed it
12: Rise and Fall
Urgent report to Control:
Message reads:
Last night our radars detected an energy emission, an explosion, occurred near Typhos Lake, no damage seems to of been caused except for a small patch of ground several meters across. The grass was withered and burnt, but new grass is already growing back over the dead undergrowth.
For the size of the explosion we picked up on our radars, this seemed to be an unusually small area of devastation. We did pick up one casualty, a body identified as Alan Turner, found drifting at the edge of the lake sporting scuba diving gear, however when we analysed him we found some unusual side effects.
Alan turned is being dispatched to headquarters for further interrogation and your own personal analysis, the entire discovery has the scientific division up in arms, we have yet to learn whether this information will be useful or not.
Message ends.
Control folded the paper again and pocketed it. It had arrived seven hours ago and now this mysterious Alan Turned had arrived with a nurse clutching a clipboard, she had a report for him to examine when the interrogation was over. That was several things to look forward to...
The man's thin features looked about worriedly, watching the people around him with distrust. His audience: a tall imposing old man and a small busty nurse watched him placidly. Who are you?
There was a pause, the old man watching the clock on the wall, the nurse watching patiently, then the casualty looked up and spoke. Alan, Alan Turner.
6 seconds. The old man turned to the nurse, It was 12 seconds earlier I understand. The nurse nodded.
The man watched patiently, oblivious to there conversation, then he leaned forward as if to listen. What you talking about? Something wrong with my reactions? Theyre usually pretty good. He paused as if waiting for a response then shrugged, Now why the hell have you dragged me here?"
The old man looked at the nurse, dragged his eyes down her body until he was facing the bed-ridden patient and asked; "What were you doing last night when we found you?"
The old man looked at the clock again, then the man spoke; "I was diving, Im a keen diver. I was practicing in the water when I saw this bright light and I passed out."
Control nodded, turning again to the nurse. "Could he be faking it?"
She nodded, reluctantly but definitely. "Unlikely, but possible."
Control considered for a few seconds then grinned morbidly, licking his lips with excitement. "I'll test it," he stepped forward swung his arm and punched the man in the face. A square knock straight over his nose, and although his head rocked back and forth his face remained motionless. Alan lay perfectly still, then a look of fear passed over his face, he put his hands up as if to block something, then collapsed, his nose spurting a thick red matte that quickly covered his lower jaw. Control patted the unconscious patients shoulder happily, "He's not faking it. What have our boffins had to say on it?" The nurse paused, glancing at her notes as she leafed through to the quote
They reckon he'll be back to normal in 6 hours." The old man nodded. "Anything we can learn from this?
He seems to be emitting some kind of radiation as he catches up to normal time, they believe it could be important, special even. They think they could build a device to detect the source of these emissions. The old man shrugged, not understanding a word of the jargon but he got the gist. Science was never his strong point, his was using what other people slaved over for his own means.
What good would that be?
We would be able to detect anyone who has travelled in time. The nurse stifled a laugh, glancing skywards in disbelief. Not very impressive I know but...
Build it. The old man smiled, his tongue licking his lips excitedly as he considered the possibilities. Divert all the necessary funds to get it done as quickly as possible, and get this fool some medication.
Commander Basard hadn't slept. Not that it mattered, he wasn't about to let a bad mood in the way of a promotion. Heaving his huge frame into the chair he waited for his commander to speak. He didn't recognise the old man who was watching him, he had taken jobs from generals, lieutenants, field marshals and even once from a very irate senator, but he had no idea who or what was about to address him from the other side of the table. He didnt know how he had managed to get hold of his number either, only Basards direct senior and his ex-wife knew how to contact him on his personal phone, everyone else left messages in his office. The fact he had been found meant the old man must be very high up and very powerful, or at least he thought he was. Basard had always known that nothing was indestructible and the oddest thing about power was that it was there one day and gone the next, usually taken by the man who employed Basard.
Commander Basard, Ive just been reading your records. Im lead to believe youre the most prominent and successful Comander in your regiment, but you've been passed over promotion because of complaints of recklessness by your co-workers. Basard watched him, his eyes getting more intense. I can arrange this long overdue promotion Basard, I can arrange anything you desire, once you've finished a little job for me.
What? Basard snapped the word out eagerly, he was in no mood to play games but the old man pushed a piece of paper down on the table.
I don't care if you are reckless or not. I dont care, you get results and I need them. This is your assignment, read it. If you finish it, you need only ask your price, if you fail then youre career could come to an untimely end. Do you understand?" Basard nodded, reaching across the table for the sheet, snatching it from in front of the crone. His eyes twinkled as he read the entire three lines, wondering exactly who thought this up?
"Piece of cake sir." He smiled putting the paper down laughing, the old man didnt smile back he just nodded before turning to leave.
11: Saturday Night / Sunday Morning
RING RING
RING RING
CRACK
The alarm clock span across the room, colliding with the wall as it thudded to the ground.
RING RING
NK looked out from her bed noticing it wasn't the alarm clock ringing at all, it sounded more like the phone. She let out a deep yaw, wondering who the hell it was this early in the morning. She glanced at her clock the other side of the room, resting against the wall with a deep crack running down its side. Hopefully it wasn't broken.
RING RING
It was irritating her now, very irritating.
RING RING
All right, NK climbed out of her bed, and made her way out of her room towards the phone, glancing at the clock on the wall, cursing her luck. She noticed Nights sitting by the phone chirruping angrily, annoyed that the machine had disturbed his sleep. She smiled at him laughing as she reached for the receiver. "What kind of idiot calls at two am on a Sunday morning Nights?" Heck, she wouldn't even think Saturday night was over yet.
RING RING
She picked up the phone, glad that the ringing had at last stopped. Gingerly she patted Nights as the chao cheered up considerably. "Hello?" She murmured, still half asleep.
Good morning, Nights Kitty I believe?
Yes.
I'm calling from Going Away, the Travel Company for you. You've won a...
I'm not interested. NK reached towards the off button on her phone, but the voice sounded urgent.
No, Im serious. You have won a free fortnight holiday for tomorrow." NK's hand paused above the receiver, quivering.
Go on.
You've won our shortlist, we took out a draw and your name came up. We've got a seat on a flight booked for you to go on tomorrow at four pm. NK yawned down the phone at the man the other end.
Couldn't you of told me sooner? It's two am!" The operator silently laughed.
I know... He chuckled embarrassed. I'm very sorry, but the news only reached us ten minutes ago, and as its tomorrow we really needed to let you know urgently. He paused. Will you be going?
Where's this holiday to? There was a pause.
Its a return visit to the arctic circle. There's an underground complex open there, not been open long, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity. That was certainly worth considering, imagine the view up there, must be fascinating, only one hitch.
Can I take my Chao with me? The operator paused, as if considering.
Yes. We don't mind Chao accompanying passengers. Youll have to get him tested before you board though, just swab and results should take less than a quarter of an hour. She smiled, and leant on the counter yawning silently.
Good, so where do I go, ill write it down.
Tomorrow evening, four pm at the Helston's airport. We'll send a driver to pick you up from your house around three thirty pm, make sure you have enough clothes to last you a week and anything else you'll need. Well handle everything you need, just bring your passport and credit card, on flight meals dont come included in the package." NK smiled, there had to be some kind of catch.
Alright then, I'll be ready. She put the phone down stroking Nights, she could do with a holiday, they both could. Did you hear that Nights, we're going on holiday.
The Chao smiled at her, grinning insanely, she smiled back at it and yawned, But first, I need a good nights sleep.
Returning to her bedroom she lay down on the bed and was off within five minutes.
10: Disappear
Reed had spent two days at the base when she first saw the machine, two days of watching apprehensively those around her and trying to fit in.
They had been watching her, gauging how much to tell her before they let her in, given her some unimportant controls to test. Ridiculous and superfluous, a waste of her talents, but they weren't prepared to let her know what was going on until she had proven herself.
But she had a pretty good guess.
Sitting at the table, chewing on the bowl of gruel she considered how she had got here. How she had become an assistant technician at a hidden base, secured away up in the arctic with no contact to the outside world.
How she didn't even know what she was working on.
There were forty five of them at the base, forty five workers and no security. Six electricians, six philosophers and theoreticians, six chemists, six designers, five mechanical physicists, three biologists, two theoretical physicians, two advisers, four safety engineers, one director and four assistant technicians. She only knew three of their names, including the director's. Director Aryian was a cold man, with a black sense of humour, but not unfriendly. He was concerned about work more than friendship, but it was not lost on him, not completely anyway.
There was a tap on her shoulder, the woman who had invited him to the base yesterday was smiling at her. The Director would like a word Mrs. Reed. She nodded, stood up and followed her to the Directors room.
He sat there, sitting on the chair fiddling with a pencil, watching the people flit around outside, watching the screens, watching everyone.
Watching the snow outside on the only window in the base, Reed starred at it for a while, watching the white sky and snow blend together, flitting around for control of the window. Good morning Mrs. Reed.
She looked down at the desk, the man was smiling at her. Hello sir. Aryian leant forwards, indicating the seat to his right. Sit down, I think it's time you were filled in what we're doing here. I'm sure you have some elaborate guesses.
She nodded but remained silent, exactly as she had been instructed to be when in his presence. She had been debriefed thoroughly about his habits and demands, and how to make sure she never offended him.
He grabbed the pencil and began sketching a picture on the desk, a large tall figure. Meet Mr Rusel, multibillionaire, hidden away, tucked up in his own mansion several hundred miles from here. He spent an awful lot of money setting up the base, and ensuring no one ever found out what was going on here. He spent a lot of money hiring out people with the right frame of mind to set up the experiments, the technology, everything. We are here to rebuild a broken machine that he discovered many years ago, he wants us to rebuild repair and improve it. That's what we're doing here. He smiled as he began sketching out some kind of machine. Do you believe that there ever could be such a thing as Time Travel Mrs. Reed?
No. She replied solidly.
No, but what if I could simply make you just disappear, and re-appear a month later, would that be time travel? She considered.
That depends on the function of the machine, why? He held up the next piece of paper, rough schematics for a machine, she examined it.
This machine creates a portal, a portal that if we can control we can travel through time at will, out of the normal timeline and into the past or future. He smiled. When finished, we will be able to just disappear, loose ourselves somewhere in some forgotten time, and you're here to assist to that end. He smiled, leaning back smirking. When the project is finished, you can return to your old life with three thousand grand in your pocket, I hope that sounds worth the effort.
It does, she replied, for that kind of money she would spend ten years trying to find a cure for the common cold for all the good it would do her. The aim might be ridiculous but the money was real, and whilst she was here she wasnt paying for living costs such as food or electricity. Realising he was waiting she asked, Is that all sir?
He nodded and she rose from her chair, the director watched her go smiling. Oh, and Mrs. Reed, if we can travel through time, imagine what else we can do.
She shut the door considering what she had learnt; her employers were mad.
NK leaned against the door, having left a note and an answer message on the phone, telling everyone that for a few weeks she would disappear off on holiday. She had got her nights sleep and was looking forward to the break.
Not that she had any idea what was to come.
9: Shut Up
NK stepped out of the car looking around at the blank field, a gigantic green field with a gigantic black helicopter crouching like a lotus preparing to spring.
She looked around, where were the buildings, where were the aeroplanes?
This isn't the airport. She chimed to the driver, he turned to stare at her. He wasnt wearing the sunglasses he had donned when he had picked her up, the sun having disappeared behind a thick rain cloud, and she didnt like the way he was looking at her.
Special flight miss, he smiled at her, inviting her towards the helicopter. We've got a flight you'll never forget.
She paused before the helicopter looking at the people in it, there were six of them, six thick people wearing jackets and trousers smiling at her. Not a one of them looked like a tourist, or a holiday agent, but they all seemed comfortable. The tallest one leaned forward offering his hand, his white teeth sticking out between his jaws. Welcome aboard Nights Kitty, I've heard so much about you. Your art is stupendous.
Thank you. She smiled at him, petting the chao on her shoulder, Nights chattered softly as the engines started up. A loud roar of the rotor blades filled the cockpit suddenly, and NK put her hands around her ears shocked by the noise. You get used to it after a minute missy. The man smiled as he began shutting the door, but then Nights began moaning.
NK looked at her chao worriedly, Oh dear. She petted him, Be quiet Nights, come on, it's alright.
I think we can do without that missy. The man leaned forward and plucked the Chao out of her arms, raising it up in his hand out of her reach. The other passengers laughed as the Chao stopped for a second, and began sobbing louder than ever. The man paused, watching it, his hands stroking its soft skin tentatively, We don't take dirt on this trip missy, and then in one quick moment flung the Chao out of the window.
No, NK leapt out of her seat, but the man flung her back down.
Shut up or I'll do the same to you. NK kicked him in the leg but he just laughed at her as two of the other passengers grabbed her and forced her down. As I said, this is a flight you will never forget.
The Chao flopped through the air roughly, spinning as the air slowed its decent slightly, but still too fast. Flapping its wings it tried to slow down to a speed that wouldn't hurt it too badly. It was useless, it was already falling well to fast, and the helicopter hadn't been to far of the ground when it had taken off...
It looked down to see the grassy dirt beneath it fill up it's vision, and take up everything, and then it felt the greatest thud in it's life...
It moaned weakly on the ground, lying at a painful angle groaning to the world, unable to move as pain caroused through every inch of it's weak body. It lay there, how long or it didn't know, weakening every moment slipping in and out of consciousness.
The last thing it saw before it slipped away completely was a dark shadow fall over it, and it heard a voice muttering something, and a hand reaching down towards it.
NK wouldn't stop struggling, her Chao was dead, or it might be, maybe it could of glided down, maybe...
She screamed but they put a gag around her mouth to stifle the noise and laughed as she continued to push herself out of there hands.
The six of them laughed at her, sitting there over her looking down in disgust at her. Thought you could fool us did you? Thought that by pretending to be an artist, by trying to blend in with real people, by acting innocent, by pretending you didn't know anything you could escape us?
Did you think that it was possible to hide away? No-one escapes us, just wait till we get to our destination and then you'll have a lot to answer for. The tall man stood up, taking up the entire room as he stood over her, he raised his hand and let fly...
Neither Nights Kitty or her Chao knew anything for a long while after that.
8: No money
Swifthom grimaced as he took stock of events, enjoying his momentarily silence to recount everything he had missed. He had let things slip out of control here, he had become locked out. This wasn't anything to do with him now, he had let time run away from him and now other people, innocents as far as he knew, had been dragged into this entire affair.
He had no control over anything now, all his work earlier forgotten by one tiny little mistake. He had found the body of Alan Turner in a rubbish dump, distorted beyond recognition and when he checked back in the records all records of any Alan Turner had been deleted. He felt sorry for the man, he should have checked more thoroughly, if he had neither Alan or the other one would be in this mess.
Locked out, without a key, there was nothing to go on now he had missed that helicopter. It wasn't on the official records, he couldn't track it, he had no idea who owned it or anything, there was nothing to go on except sit alone and wander what was going on around him that he couldn't see. He counted them off his fingers.
Firstly someone had found Alan Turner, discovered an unknown side effects of the explosion, killed him and gone after the other person for some unknown reason.
He needed to get to work, to find some way in, to find a click somewhere. He paused leaning back in the bar sipping on his drink, the barman had watched him suspiciously for a while. Another mystery there, he seemed to be regressing, Maud had mentioned that before she had...
No, he didn't want to remember that, but she had commented that he had no age. He looked barely eighteen at the moment, only six months ago he would of passed off as thirty something.
Interesting, but not important, he had to stop letting his mind slip. If he let up now everything would fall out of control, and he couldn't let that happen.
He had to get a grip, but how?
A million names flitted over in his head, as he gulped down the last of his drink. That was the last of his money gone, spent on a packet of crisps and a pint of beer. What was he going to do? He glanced down at the map of the area on the table, from Mr Rusel's mansion to the public library, he had some research to do. Maybe the public library tomorrow, after he'd found somewhere to sleep tonight.
7: Close Escape
The first feeling was pain, the second was tiredness and the third was hatred.
NK opened her eyes slowly and groggily as she raised her head from her seat. The silent helicopter cockpit looked silent and empty, she glanced over at the window. A dark figure stood outside, probably a guard to check she didn't escape. Rubbing her eyes she remembered everything.
She had a sudden urge to scream, but that would bring the guard towards her. She fumed silently wondering what to do, but nothing came. There was no training for this, she had never been told in school what to do when kidnapped in a helicopter and taken who knows where Behind the guard it looked like a city, they had obviously landed in a city, on top of a skyscraper or something, in a town. There would be people, police, somebody she could get to for help, if only she could get out of the helicopter...
She glanced around, they didn't know she was awake yet, so what could she do?
She noticed a parachute tied to the roof of the cockpit. She smiled, she had once wondered whether she would every go parachute jumping, it seemed likely.
But they would notice the parachute, they would come after her, she needed a better plan. She ripped the parachute down and examined it, looking around her eyes fell on a cupboard half open. She moved a box out of the way to see behind the cupboard was an empty space, perfect, she could just about fit in there if she had to.
She silently slid along to the edge of the helicopter and peered out at her captor. It was a young man sitting on a step facing out over the city sipping on a can of lager. She glanced around for something hard, and her fingers closed in on the first aid box shoved beneath the bench. Gripping it tightly she slowly climbed out the helicopter and advanced on him, he turned around surprised as her shadow fell on him, and dropped his beer as he raised his gun.
The alcohol slipped all over his shirt, and he looked down in disgust for a second giving NK the time she needed to swing down the medical box on top of his head.
The man collapsed to the floor, NK smiled. She casually threw the parachute of the edge of the building and then returned to the helicopter to climb into the storage space.
She had been waiting hours when she heard the commander's raised voice. She must have drifted off because she suddenly realised she had been face down and a hard layer of saliva had formed at the back of her mouth. What do you mean she overpowered you?
I was drinking bear and...
You were drinking, sergeant, you drunk on duty and let an unarmed civilian knock you out.
Yes sir. There was a pause, then NK heard footsteps in the helicopter.
Sir, one of the parachutes has gone, she must of taken one and escaped. NK contained a silent chuckle, her plan had worked.
This is your fault sergeant, Im reliving you of your post. There was a hail of gunfire and she could hear a body fall to the floor, dead. NK cringed, she had caused that man's death, shaking her head she waited, listening. Okay, we'll have to find her. Fetch the tracker from the helicopter. NK paused, tracker, what if they had put a bug or something on her, she cursed as the footsteps disappeared, and she could hear the door into the building closing.
She emerged from her hiding place hurriedly, checking for other parachutes. No, they had taken them all, she would have to go down through the building.
She waited a minute before she opened the door, the staircase looked dingy and ready to collapse, but she went down it anyway.
It wasn't as if she had a choice.
She had gone down fifteen floors when she caught sight of a person, sitting on the floor beneath her, gun aimed straight at her. She dived sideways as the soldier opened fire, slamming open a doorway and falling through it. That had been close, too close.
She was now in the kitchens, empty kitchens, either it was after hours or the building was deserted. She ran straight through to try the far door, locked, she swore as the door she had entered by swung open and the woman who had fired on her earlier entered gun raised. She dropped to the floor as gunshots echoed above her head, blasting a hole in the ceiling. There was a crash as they blew open the cabinet on her right, and several kitchen appliances rained down on her. She moaned as several plates smashed around her, and a few on top of her, and lay there waiting...
Then there was a clang, a large frying pan had landed just on her right, her fingers gripped around it, a large grin appearing on her face. She picked up a piece of one of the shattered plates and threw it to her right, it smashed against the wall, accompanied by a hail of gunfire, she used to distraction to skirt around to the right, circling around the soldier.
She charged around her, gunfire blazing over her head destroying the kitchens, she skidded to a halt just to her right.
She hit the frying pan against a cooker next to her, the gun stopped firing and there was a pause.
Footsteps echoed as the soldier slowly began to advance towards her, she waited until she could almost hear their breathing and then made her move. She spun around, the frying pan drawn covering her face, and the gun went off. The frying pan was almost thrown out of her hands, but she held on as the soldier gasped in shock, and then as the gun stopped she swung around and bashed the frying pan against the side of the womans head, she fell to the floor unconscious.
Clutching the frying pan she skirted to the other door labelled fire escape, it was locked. She went back for the womans gun and fired at the lock, the door swung open limply. She rushed down the steps outside the building, the frying pan still clutched in her hands.
She was out, but if they had a tracker on her, they would know she was escaping, she had to get moving fast before they found her...
6: Keep Moving
Swift sat there moaning, the librarian approached him cautiously. Excuse me, we're closing now.
Sorry, oh right. Swift blinked and got up, picking up the book and replacing it on the shelf.
Is something wrong sir?
I can't find any scientific books here, just the basic school textbook stuff. I'm looking for theoretical quantum mechanics, I know you wouldn't have many books but Id expect one or two books, even if it only mentions them in a side note. The librarian paused as if considering this.
A lot of our higher research studies were sold to Mr. Rusel, if I remember right sir. He lives in the mansion just out of town, he apparently has an interest and he funded the renovations to the library after the entrance collapsed. He has his own private library up there, I am sure he would be welcome to let you have a look around if you ask him. He looked around, Now if you could just go now sir, I need my sleep. Swift smiled inwardly as he left the librarian behind, his hands rubbing together eagerly.
Thank you, I think Ill do just that. His thoughts turned to Mr Rusel, a billionaire buying every book on the subject of theoretical quantum mechanics in a public library, that seemed odd behaviour. He shook his head, he could talk with Mr Rusel and see if he could have a look around, maybe if he studied the subject Markson had a degree in then he could get some hints of what was going on.
Then again, maybe not.
Every time she looked over her shoulder she could swear she could see a soldier running towards her guns raised at the corner of her eyes.
She pushed her way through the crowds, looking for any hint that they were closing in on her. They had put a tracker on her, but where. She ran her hands through her hair and checked her arms as she ran down the street, nothing, well nothing she could tell. It would have to be small and light, otherwise she would feel it, maybe it was on her clothes, but there was no way she could check here. She needed to find a place, safe and hidden away that she could check from...
But she had to keep moving, they were after her, she was sure of it. She glanced over her shoulder again to look at the market that she had just passed disappear behind her, and ahead looked like an apartment building.
She could hide in there for a moment, she headed of towards it frantically, urging her aching legs to keep going...
She was almost there, but she couldn't stop now.
NK reached the staircase running, and almost tripped over the first step in her mad rush to get up. Still racing she stumbled up the steps, up level after level occasionally glancing at the doors to see if she should go out of them or not. She glanced at the map on the side, she was on floor twelve out of fifteen, she barged through the door and out into the corridor. She pushed her way along the corridor, which was empty, but all the doors were locked.
Suddenly from behind her she heard a click, as a door swung open and a tall woman stepped out. She turned to lock the door behind her but NK got to her first. She felt angry at herself for doing this, but she had to, she had to escape, she had to keep moving. She pulled the woman's keys out of her hands and slammed the door in her face, she could hear the shouting from outside the door as the woman tried to force her way back in, she rushed to the bedroom and quickly began checking her clothes for bugs...
Commander Basard looked over at his troops, milling about the top floor and checking every door. She's near to us, close, real close. He murmured as the last door was forced open and three of them piled into the room to search it. They re-emerged shaking her head, She's not on this floor sir.
We have 2 people guarding the entrance, she's not getting anywhere, we'll check every level as we go along. Basard checked his hand held device, it was registering a strong impulse from the target. She's close, we'll find her don't worry. As they re-entered the staircase Basard could hear someone screaming from somewhere beneath them, he continued down to check on the noise. He returned to floor twelve to find a tall woman banging on a door to her rooms, irately cursing in every word he'd ever heard before. He smiled, stepping forward to play the gracious security official; Excuse me Miss, is anything the matter?
The matter? Of course something's bloody wrong. She's locked me out of my room, I can't get back in.
Basard licked his lips trying not to smile, Who did?
Some cat of some kind, with purple hair. She said. I didn't think much of her, but she grabbed the keys out of my hands and... She chocked blood as Basard's first bullet flew through her throat, and fell dead on the floor. Basard pulled out the radio, checking down the corridor there were no other witnesses to dispose of. You two, get down to floor twelve, I have her.
She wasn't going to get out now, finally cornered, he leant on the door laughing. Who could enjoy their job more than he did?
NK pulled on a loose T Shirt she had grabbed from the woman's draws, if the tracker had been on her clothes they wouldn't be able to track her now.
Suddenly there was a noise form outside, the screaming and banging stopped to be replaced by a single short, they had found her. She raced for the window, opened it, walked out onto the balcony and looked down. Twelve levels was rather higher than she had expected but she didn't have a choice. She could just about see the balcony below her jutting out slightly, she climbed over the edge gingerly hoping for the best...
She let go of the edge, her arm firmly fixed onto the metal bar than ran alongside the balcony, and lowered herself down, her toes not quite reaching the balcony wall beneath her. There was a slamming noise from above her, they had broken in, she let go, and dropped the two feet down to the floor beneath her.
Climbing back to her feet, she raced to the door and pushed it open, returning to the staircase she pelted back down it to the bottom floor, and ran towards the entrance.
She stopped halfway there, two soldiers were standing at the entrance looking around. They spotted her and aimed their guns threateningly, NK dived behind the nearest till as the gunfire blew of the papers and smashed through the computer. She looked around, spotted the side door leading out to the restaurant and ran for it, pursued by two soldiers running behind her.
She ran straight through the restaurant and emerged in the swimming pool room, a thin wooden small wall separating the swimming pool to the gardens of the hotel. She crouched down by the bushes near to the gate and waited.
The two soldiers emerged, looking around for her, standing at the edge of the pool one of them walked forward and looked down. She silently rose from her position and dived for the other one, knocking him over and his gun went flying. She pushed into the woman looking down from the pool and she fell in with a gigantic splash. Turning she ran for the gate and vaulted over it, quite painfully as she caught it on her way over, and continued running towards the trees. She had to escape, she had to....
Basard angrily stood at the edge of the swimming pool, fingering his gun absent mindedly. His troops stood there, one dripping wet, both looking shame faced as he stood before them. "There are only four of us left now, Im not going to bother getting rid of you two as you'll be needed when we go to the other site, but if this happens again...
He looked up to the sky, and patted his gun, leaving the threat still standing. Now come on, the trace will still last for another day or so.
5: If I Didnt Care
Swift stopped in the middle of the library, glancing around he considered what to do next. He had snuck in easily enough, the security systems were rather more advanced than he had expected but that didn't stop him, and now he was here. Unannounced, unknown and unsuspecting, he could have all the time he wanted to browse the library, whilst that other poor girl who had been kidnapped was going through who knows what torments.
He pulled the bag from his shoulder and set it down on the table, pausing he wondered towards the first bookshelf and began to browse. This was exactly what he was looking for, every conceivable book on every related subject, perfect. He pulled a volume on the "Theory Notes" by a Mr. Eliart Ersan.
Director Aryian glanced at the screen as Max Rusel appeared, his thin smile and small head filling up most of the screen. Good morning Mr Rusel.
Aryian, Rusel's tone was dismissive. How is the work proceeding?
Reed, our latest addition to the team, has pointed out several shortcuts and mistakes in the programming, but progress is still continuing steadily. He smiled at Rusel, who just watched him tiredly. Im sorry sir, if you'll forgive me, but you seem to of lost interest recently on this project. It's almost as if you don't care any more.
I do care Aryian, if I didn't you're budget would disappear completely. I'm not interested in how it works or your personal staff, how long until the project is complete?
Soon, real soon, maybe tomorrow maybe next week, Aryian paused, biting his lip, building up the courage to make his next request. If you came down sir you could oversee the test of the project.
Rusel smiled at this, and nodded. I think that I.... He broke off suddenly, looking up to his right, listening to something. I'll be in touch later Aryian, expect an aircraft tomorrow morning.
Yes sir, Ill turn of the base defences tomorrow morning then. Aryian paused wondering what had interrupted Rusel like that? Not that it was any of his business but usually Mr Rusel refused to be distracted by anything. Was there really something more important and pressing for his time now?
Swift sighed as the three large bodyguards stood around him, Rusel sighing. What the hell do you think you're doing in my house?
Browsing your books, it's an interesting collec... Rusel raised his hand and a bodyguard winded Swift to shut him up.
No-one breaks into here, no-one. Swift opened his eyes again to watch the small wiry Rusel be joined by a tall beefy figure who flashed a smile at Swift, almost as if he knew him...
Excuse me sir, but our associates are looking for you on the telephone... Rusel growled angrily, and stormed off, followed by two of the bodyguards. The one holding Swift relaxed his grip as the beefy man strolled up to him. Who the heck do you think you are breaking in on my turf?
Swift, Swifthom actually.
You were listening in on Mr Rusel's communication, hiding behind a bookcase.
I was reading behind a bookcase, I didn't know there was a communication until this man grabbed me and... The bodyguard tightened his grip, Swift squealed as he felt his arm cracking.
Well Swifthom, as it happens Ive heard of you. I don't think that you're appearance here is co-incidence. What are you doing here?
Researching. Swift smiled hopefully, It's true you know. The beefy man cracked his knuckles.
My name is Don Hawatzi, I'm Mr Rusel's advisor and personal bodyguard. He opened his mouth the reveal a shining row of gold teeth, grinning he pulled a gun from his pocket. You would do well to stay on my good side, so tell me. How much of the conversation did you overhear.
Not a lot, just a bit about aircrafts and...
Too much. Don turned around considering things. You'll have to come with us, we can't let you out now, an information leak. You're coming with us so we can interrogate you there. Swift smiled mockingly and laughed
Oh goodie, a holiday. Where, anywhere nice? Don rubbed his hands together, grinning down at his captive.
The land of hope and glory, but don't expect first class rooms. He nodded to the bodyguard. Fetch his bag from the library annex and take him down to the plane.
Swift watched as the door shut him in the cabin, sighing, locked up again. You would think he didn't care about his own health the amount of times he was locked up like this.
He had plenty to go on now though, Don Hawatzi had known an awful lot about him, suspicious. Mr Rusel had something going on somewhere, that you needed air flight to get to, and lastly he had his ticket to get there. Maybe, just maybe this would be linked to whatever that Commander was doing with his hostage, but probably not.
They could be anywhere by now...
He felt the rumble of the aircraft, they were taking off. It hadn't taken them long to get started, it was obviously a private chartered flight. So how long would it be before they let him out. He glanced at his bag, the only thing he had with him in the otherwise bare cabin, he checked it and smiled.
Perfect.
4: Day on The Town
NK glanced up at the sky, it was leering down at her, laughing as she ran from the inevitable.
She could almost hear them running behind her, the blood pumping through her veins.
A bullet whizzed over her shoulder, she looked backwards to see several running figures appear around the corner, guns raised. "Stop" She could hear his voice, deep and loud. Covering her ears she ran on, suddenly there was a commotion around her. She stopped and stood still, covering her ears as the sirens wailed and the alarms squealed all around her. The soldiers caught up with her quite quickly after that, the Commander stepped up to her and cuffed her around the face, So you thought you could run from us hey?
Another soldier ran up to him. There are cops all around us, we'll have to shoot our way out.
Then that's what we'll do. Go back to the copter, I'll carry the girl. The soldier nodded, raised her gun and began firing at the blaring lights in the distance. NK heard the screams above the sirens, saw the blood stains marking the floor.
The commander put his arm around her shoulder. Well I hope you enjoyed your day on the town, because you'll never see it again. He twisted his wrist, and raising his fist knocked her unconscious for the second time.
Reed glanced over the dinner table at her fellow employees. They had warmed to her a lot since Director Aryian had tried to fill her head with nonsense, but now looking at what they were doing she had to admit that she was doubting it less than before.
It was about two OClock in the morning the night before when it had happened, when they had managed it. They hadn't tested it, theoretically it would be impossible to try it out, but the fact there was something there was good enough for the Director. He wanted to leave it powered down until Mr Rusel arrived tomorrow, then he could test it there in front of a keen audience. Yes, quite the showman was their Director Aryian.
She had watched it, glimmering blue/white lights flashing through her vision, quite mesmerising actually. She could imagine people complaining that it could give people fits, or other problems, but to her it looked quite relaxing, beautiful even. The biochemist had been examining the effects it had had on breaking hydrocarbon bonds, concerned that it might cause a breakdown of organic matter. What was a point of creating a portal if everyone who walked through it just broke apart into a heap of carbon and water
She could imagine, if it was a time portal, what she could see if she went through it. Apparently it was set for two hours into the past, so when Mr Rusel arrived Director Aryian would be able to get him to put an object in and then present him with the object as it would of appeared two hours earlier. Pointless but a good gloat of what they could do now and if nothing appeared in the laboratory before they started then they wouldnt bother trying so no one would embarrass themselves.
She smiled, so Aryian wasnt mad after all, quite a revelation. She had no idea that people were so advanced these days. She wondered what the portal could be used for, and why, what would the future bring?
She watched the dark room where the machinery was stored and smiled. Tomorrow would be a new surprise...
3: Land of Hope and Glory
Swift opened his eyes to glance out the window, yawning but grinning as he realised it was somewhere hed never been before but always wanted to go...
NK opened her eyes, waking up once again from being knocked unconscious, to peer groggily out of the cabin window...
Reed blinked as she gazed placidly out of the only window in the base, watching the land beneath them...
Rusel yawned as he peered down through the fog at the view below...
Commander Basard smiled as he glanced across the landscape towards their destination...
Director Aryian stood beside Reed watching the window as he waited for his master to arrive...
The snow rolled down the side of the mountains in small white fluffs, as the thick blanket covering the land built up and up. The land went on as far as the eye could see, completely white except for the occasional rock poking up through the snow. The white blanket sky gazed down at the land, the only difference between the two was the shower of snow falling from one white sheet to another.
The black aircraft drifted down towards the base, everyone watched as they prepared to land.
Director Aryian stood at the airlock, waiting for his master to arrive. The doors of the helicopter swung open grandly and he opened his arms to welcome his master. The first bullet caught him directly in the heart, and was followed by a hail of them that caught him face on. He collapsed to the ground, dead before he hit the floor, a red stain bloodied the carpet. Commander Basard stepped out of the helicopter smiling at everyone else standing around, Hands in the air, surrender or die.
Reed and the dozen other scientists stood stunned as the soldiers piled out of the helicopter, followed timidly by NK who was shoved next to the scientists. Who's in charge here? Basard's deep voice boomed over the deathly quiet.
There was silence for a while then one of the shorter men in white cloaks stepped forwards, The director was, but since you killed him I am the chief scientist. I am in charge. Basard nodded.
Take all of these people and lock them in their rooms, and put the cat in the Directors room. He indicated two soldiers to accompany them. He turned back to the remaining soldiers. Okay men, let's get the network set up.
NK watched as they spread throughout the base to make it theirs, she looked at the dead body on the floor, then at the gun being pointed at her face. Move it girl. She nodded mutely, and followed the scientists down the corridor.
Swift was pulled out before Don and Rusel, they looked at him gravely, he glanced at there sombre faces and smiled to himself. Don leapt out of his seat and grabbed him by his collar, shaking him vigorously as he demanded; What have your friends done?
What?
There is a helicopter already in the hanger, you have sent people here, I knew you were working for someone, who is it? Swift glanced at the window and looked down. He shrugged and turned back to them. I don't know, can we still land?
Yes.
Well don't. He nodded, turning back to the window to look down.
I beg your pardon?
Don't land. Those people down there have guns, their going to kill everyone. He shrugged, not bothering to look away from the window. Don't land, although if you have a parachute I'd be happy to... He paused, and gritted his teeth. He clasped his hand to his forehead in annoyance and shook himself, shivering slightly. The two men starred at him angrily as he paced around the room muttering to himself. What the hell do you think you're doing?
I can't stand heights, there's no way you could ever get me parachuting out of this plane. He began to kick the floor angrily, Land this plane, I need to get out.
Don glanced at Rusel, then stepped forward. Who do you think you are? This is Mr Rusel, and you presume to boss him around like a...
I presume because I know. Those men down there have kidnapped a hostage already, and will probably have killed the base Director and imprisoned everyone else. There's nothing any of us can do unless we have some weapons and...
He paused glancing up as Don waved the gun in his face, Shut up Swift, if that really is your name. Since you know so much that is going on, perhaps you can tell us?
Swift glared at him, then nodded and sighed, sitting down and putting the rucksack down on top of the table. Alright, I don't know everything but here's what I do know....
NK was dragged out before the commander, and he leered at her. Alright missy, time for you to answer some questions of ours. We know who you are, but how did they find you?
What?
How did they find you? He raised the gun and his voiced quietened to a whisper, Come on, I haven't all day.
I don't know what your talking about.
The Time travel, oh yeah we know. We know that you've travelled in time, now talk. NK didn't know what to say, she just starred at him. The commander smiled, pointed his gun at her and laughed, "Five seconds missy..."
Suddenly there was uproar behind him, and several soldiers leapt to their feet and rushed to the hangar door. The commander turned around as the young woman ran up to him. There's an airship coming this way, it's coming in to land.
The commander nodded, pointed at NK and muttered, Lock her in the Director's room, I want the new arrivals taken alive.
The woman nodded and lead NK off down the corridor, Basard turned and walked to the hanger to welcome his new arrivals.
2: Believe Me
Swift smiled at Rusel and Don, raised the rifle and loaded it. It clicked as the magazine shut, and the grin faded from his face. Dropping the rifle he opened the door and stepped outside with his arms raised yelling at the top of his voice, I surrender.
Don and Rusel stared at each other in shock, they stepped away from the door expecting a hail of bullets, but none came. Who are you?
My name is John, I am Mr Rusel's personal assistant, he sent me to tell you that he and his bodyguard surrender. Don glared at the direction of the door, but Rusel held him back. So, who are you?
That doesn't concern you, tell Mr Rusel and his bodyguard to get out here sharp or all three of you are dead. Swift turned to look at the plane waiting...
Rusel and Don stepped out, no longer clutching their rifles, with their hands in the air. The commander stepped forward and examined them as the three of them stood together. What the hell are you doing here?
I own this place. Rusel replied obstinately. What are you doing here?
Taking command of an illegal instillation, the Commander smiled. You'll be happy to know youre director is dead. Rusel blinked as he spotted the body in the corridor, he let out a shout of anger and rushed towards the corpse. The commander kicked him in the leg and Rusel feebly fell to the floor moaning. Don made to move forward but Swift held him back. Pathetic, the Commander stepped around them smiling sickly at them. I think you'll be happy in the Director's room, it should be comfortable enough for you. The soldier behind him looked uncomfortable.
But sir, we locked the girl there, what should we do with her? Basard shrugged.
Kill her, imprison her, lock her up and torture her. I don't care. The three were escorted away, Don was watching Swift suspiciously wondering why the young man was smiling to himself....
NK looked up from the chair as the door opened, three strangers were shoved into the room and the door closed. She watched them suspiciously, two of them looked at her suspiciously and the other was almost jumping up and down with joy. They all then turned to stare at the third one who realised he was making a fool of himself and grinned sheepishly. He stepped forward smiling and offered his hand to her, Hello Nights Kitty, or may I call you NK? My name is Swift and I'm a huge fan of yours.
She blinked and smiled sheepishly and nodded. NK will do fine. She took his hand warily and shook it, he beamed at her with admiration. Who are your friends? She pulled her hand away from him worriedly. Rusel stepped forward and nodded to her.
My name is Rusel, and this is my bodyguard Don, we own this instillation.
NK opened her mouth and gravely informed him; Your director's dead. Rusel nodded sadly.
He was a close friend, we grew up together. I offered him this job because it was his dream, now because of me he's dead. Rusel looked at the floor. What else do you know?
The other scientists are all locked up in various rooms across the base, the commander wants their technology and he...
He can't get his hand on the machine. She glanced at the bodyguard in surprise, he gritted his teeth. We can't allow that technology to fall into anybody's hands.
Youre too late, I think their interviewing the scientists one by one to find out how to work it for themselves. Don kicked the bench angrily and sat down dejectedly.
Tell me everything you know about these men....
Basard paused outside the Director's room, checking the lock hurriedly. It didn't look as if the door had been opened, it was still locked, but it was still possible that one of them could have got out. Sweat running down his brow he held his gun ready in case anyone tried anything and slid open the door.
Inside he saw all four of them, three of them talking to each other animatedly and the fourt, the small dark haired man sitting on his own starring at the wall. Stepped in, keeping his rifle held high aiming at Rusel he barked an order, Mr Rusel and you, he pointed the gun at Don, You will come with me.
The two climbed to their feet and followed him out of the room leaving just Swift and NK sitting there. NK glanced up at Swift who had been silent since he had introduced himself, he was bending over the desk scribbling something. What's wrong with you?
Sorry, I thought Id let the three get on with it whilst I practiced.
Practiced what? He sat up smiling as he raised a piece of paper, clumsy pencil drawn portrait of NK was drawn on it, he smiled. What do you think of my art? I'm not a very good artist, but it looks like you. NK paused examining it, then smiled weakly.
It's very good. Swift just continued to stare at her, she starred back at him wondering if there was something wrong with his head. Its very good, for a beginner.
He smiled shaking his head laughing. I hope I didn't offend you earlier, Im not really that much of an avid fan, I was actually quite hoping I could get a chance to talk with you. She glanced back at him suspiciously and he smiled at her pleasantly. I'm sorry for everything that's happened. He whispered and leant back in his chair, she starred at him again.
What kind of weirdo are you?
The kind who knows what's going on. I got you involved in this mess, it's all my fault, everything, Im sorry. She glanced at him and it clicked.
You were the man on the hill that night, you set off the explosion. He nodded sagely, his dark eyes focusing in on the floor.
You're temporarily imbalanced, your less than a millisecond out but they built a tracer that picks you up like a beacon. I thought that lake would be deserted, but I later discovered two people had been caught in the energy flow back, you and Alan Turner. They caught Alan, tested him and built the tracer, then they killed him and went after you.
Why? NK didn't really expect an answer, but Swift just shrugged.
Why does anyone do anything? Imagine if they had a time machine of their own, they could do anything.
And you want to stop them. She smiled bleakly. I don't see what you can do in here. He smiled at her suspiciously.
Believe me NK, just trust me and Ill bring us both out of this alive. He smiled at her.
She resisted the urge to slap him, and just sat there considering everything that had happened.
And the door opened without either of them getting up from their seats.
1: Time
NK Glanced at Swift, How?
He tapped his nose and smiled. I'll explain it all later, right now we need to get going. She crossed her arms angrily and checked outside the door, looking for a guard, there was no-one.
What, who, how? Swift stepped past her made of down the corridor hurriedly. Swift, come back.
No time NK, we need to get to the machine before they get it working. Oh, and that reminds me. He reached for his backpack, but it wasn't there. Swift cursed softly looking around, My backpack, where is it?
You didn't bring one in, why?
I left him in it.
Left who in it? Swift, you aren't making any sense. He gritted his teeth and smiled at her.
Your Chao, whatever his name is. I arrived too late to stop them kidnapping you but I found your Chao on the floor, I've been looking after him while I searched for you. He's in the backpack, probably asleep, which I... He paced around the corridor banging his head. He's in the plane, I put the bag down to explain my plan to Rusel.
NK laughed, and set of in the opposite direction. NK, where are you going?
To get my Chao. She set of at a run, desperate to save her Chao.
Don shivered, since they had taken Mr Rusel away he had been locked in here on his own with the machine, if they harmed his boss then...
He looked around for somewhere to hide, some way to escape, somehow. Suddenly the door opened and Swift stepped in, Don blinked and stepped forward. They've taken Mr Rusel, indeed to help him.
Swift glanced at the machine and nodded. Alright, that's fine Don, come on. The two of them set of down the corridor to find the Commander and his prisoner, and finally end this madness.
They stopped outside another locked door, they could hear shouting from behind it. Swift nodded to Don and knocked slowly on the door three times. There was silence, then the door opened. Swift stepped forward smiling, Hello Commander, I don't suppose you can...
The Commander roared and stepped forward strangling Swift, Don waited until he was fully out into the corridor and brought his hands crashing down on the back of the Commander's head. Basard fell limp, Swift steadied himself on the wall clutching his neck. Thank you Don.
Shall I kill him? Swift shook his head quickly.
Certainly not, take his gun and tie him up. Let's see how Mr Rusel is shall we?
The sight that met there eyes was not pleasant, Rusel lay battered and bruised in the centre of the room unconscious, there was blood pouring from his right arm and he had a large swelling black eye. Don gasped and dropped the Commander with a thud. How dare they?
Shut the door Don. Swift bent down to examine Rusel, and nodded. He's alive, his eyes noticed a small black device on the table ticking. What's that?" He picked it up to examine it.
It's a timer, Don informed him, his eyes widened as he noticed a small black box in the corner of the room. He's set explosives, he's going to destroy the base. Swift ignored him checking Rusel again.
We can escape the base, there's a working Time Machine where you were locked up, we can use it to get out, but first I need to find N...
The door opened, a tall black suited soldier appeared dragging by the neck a struggling purple haired cat. Commander? The Soldiers eyes flickered across the room, Don was the first to respond.
Drop the girl or your commander dies. The soldier let go of the cat who stepped quickly away from him. Now back into the corner and give me your gun. Don advanced on the soldier who quickly obeyed, Don pulled the machine gun over his head and smiled, his finger tightening around the trigger, the young man convulsed and died as the bullets ripped through his gut and lungs. Swift's eyes widened in anger as he tried to pull the gun from the bodyguard.
There was no need for that.
Don just laughed, Come on Swift, we're getting out of here, if youre sure this Time machine will work? Swift nodded and retreated to Rusel's body. Okay NK, you take the head and shoulders. He bet down and the two of them lifted the body as they left the room.
I couldn't get to the plane, the guard saw me. NK blinked, I need to try again.
Too Late NK, in a minute this place is going to explode, you won't make it to the plane.
What's this about a time machine? She tried to change the conversation quickly, Swift smiled knowingly.
Ahh, Rusel has been hired to build a Time Machine by the Elite I expect," she looked blankly at him, But of course you wouldn't know who the Elite are. Never mind, theyre not important.
It sounds like they are. She muttered, heaving the hea
