As I'm sure you're aware, the hack got rid of three years of my work. Three years. And I, being the idiot that I am, didn't make a back up. Why? I don't know. I should have, but I didn't.
So, once all my work had gone, I was reluctant to return to the story. I mean, it was gone. All that was left was the prologue. I didn't know how to continue. I could write a big recap, I could just go on as if nothing happened, I could start again. I didn't know what to do. So I left it.
I don't know how many people read 'The Aeon Saga'. I'm hoping a few people did. If you were a reader, then you'll probably have realised that I would sometimes go for months without updating. I think I once went for a year without adding anything. Despite that though, I liked working on it. I enjoy writing. I'm just a lazy slob who gets distracted easily. But once I get down to it, I really like what I do.
So I want to come back. The question is, how?

I've set up a couple of choices for myself. I'd like any readers to reply and tell me what they want. If nobody replies, fine. I'll make my own decision. But I don't want to do something that people aren't happy with. So I'll put it to a vote. Hopefully someone will respond.
The choices:
1) Continue as is. Recap all the important events, give some background for the characters so new readers can get some idea of what they're like, then go straight into chapter 86 (or whatever number I was on). Thus allowing anyone who read it before the hack to find out what happens next. I still remember where things were going and what had happened, so it wouldn't be too difficult.

2) Start over. I'd been thinking about this since sometime after the hack. Begin again. Use the same characters, and the same setting, but a different story. Different words, different situations. An 'Ultimate' Aeon Saga, if you like.
In 2002, I had some bare ideas of what I was going to do. Things came up whenever I thought of them. Allik's sudden reluctance to lead people, wishing they could lead themselves-that came about when I started learning about anarchism. Marli joining the crew was something I thought would be a good idea after I introduced her, so I went with it.
Now, I've got it figured out. I know what characters are like, how they should act and what they will do. Also, I like to think my writing has improved since I began. So (hopefully) it would be something of an improvement.

Please, people who read and enjoyed The Aeon Saga. The two of you need to make a choice. Well, not need per se, but I'd be really grateful if you did. Please?
