First off, complaints go in EVC.

Secondly, the manner in which you presented your post was consistent with that of a story or role-play, i.e. narrative prose from the perspective of one of the characters, in which case your topic would have been better off in Carnival Island or the Role Player's Guild. If you wanted to make a thread where people make up new Megaman characters, you should have started something like "Hey guys, why don't we all make up new Megaman characters and post them here!" and then posted your character. If you wanted to showcase a fan character and present it for discussion from a literary perspective, you should have posted in Carnival Island.

This forum is for discussion of Megaman games, cartoons, comics, etc. Original creations and artistic works (even if they derive from established properties) go in Carnival Island.

Just be a bit more careful about where you post next time and nobody has to get upset. Think about what you want to acheive with a thread and decide where to post based on that.

Also, neither Acrio nor Shadow Hog were making fun of you. Acrio was explaining the rules, Shadow Hog was enforcing them, albeit in a slightly snarky manner.

I'm going to go ahead and move this thread to EVC now since that's where staff complaints belong.

Thank you Becca, I think that's one thing I consistently fail to get across when dealing with these issues.

LWS, the mods aren't out to get you. The rules are there to keep everything sane (as much as everyone isn't :P) and help everyone get along. The subboards, in particular, while they may seem abstract, do serve a purpose as categorising things to an extent allows people to find the kind of posts they want to read easily. If everyone started posting whatever they wanted in any forum, there'd be no point in having more than one forum and no-one would be able to find topics relevant to their interest in the big jumbled mess.

Ultimately, though, all he want is to keep things running smoothly and for our members to get along and everything to be nice and shiny and happy. When someone offers you advice or give instructions about the rules, don't take it as an insult; they're trying to help you develop into a worthwhile and valuable contributor to the community. It's better to try and understand what they say than to start posting angry topics lamenting their words and actions.

Yeah, pretty much what they said. Just follow the rules. They're there for a reason. No ones trying to offend you. They're just trying to keep order so everybody can get along.
A few more things, one exclamation point is sufficient enough. It's a pet peeve I have. LOLZ @ calling Acrio Zesty. That's classic. That should be on the qotw or something.

LWS, we're not trying to offend you, seriously. If we were trying to do that, it would have been a long time ago. Also, the mods are mods for a reason. They've been around for a long time and know more about this place than you do. That's the reason they're mods. Plus three warnings is quite a bit, so I would say that you have been getting off of the hook.
My advice: Read the rules. That way, you know what was fair and wasn't. And aknowledge the mods. They're just trying to help.
P.S. I don't mind a few grammatical errors, but your posts are beginning to irritate me. I'm not telling you to fix your grammar, it's just that good grammar is much more pleasing to the eyes. And it helps people take you more seriously. But that's your choice, not mine. Take care.

Hahhaa Zesty. That's great. I had no idea he/she was referring to Acrio until he came and addressed himself. But yea LWS, you have to shake some stuff off. Everyone is who they are, just like people you meet in your school or neighborhood. You'll get used to us.

To UDC: I haven't really seen much of what you desrcibe directed at you (then again, I rarely venture outside of MFC & SPA), so if you want anything done about it you'll have to provide specific examples.

UDC, I saw that post in Knothole about how "Nobody knows how hard it is to be outnumbered in their every opinion" (for the record, I'm someone who's gone on the record in Knothole about Ian's work not being "all that", either, so I know that you're not the only one and I can show you the posts) because people either weren't responding or contradicted you, and I'm asking you nicely, since you're repeating the allegation here:

I'm not so catty myself, but I'm surprised that I didn't have to get between you and someone else who was saying that the populations of Darfur, Congo, China and Palestine probably had some vague clue...

Nobody's not allowing you your opinion. What you're describing in Knothole is people who disagree with you, and say so.

I've never seen anyone tell you to "keep your trap shut", and I'm a little offended as a staff member that you're implying that myself and Red (who're generally the people who do most of the Mod work in Knothole) would let something like that happen. If I'd seen it, I'd have had a few words to say about it - and if I hadn't, why didn't you ask a staff member for help, since they're breaking the rules?

You can't expect people to think that your every word is the best statement ever - we all say things that other people on the forum might not like.

Nobody hates you... Posting here is just like meeting people on the street - you can't just stop someone at random and expect them to agree with you because you might have similar interests.

And being in a minority isn't a bad thing. It's just different. 🙂

Tornadot actually gave you some advice in his reply to you in Knothole and this is honestly just another friendly suggestion, but... If your opinions amounted to more than one or two lines of:

And actually contained some reasons why you think what you think, other people might understand you a little better when they had something to work with. That's why we have rules about trying to actually put your opinions across, rather than just posting one-liners - you don't have to write an essay with every answer, but it's hard to have a discussion forum when people don't discuss.

If you weren't "allowed" your opinion, like you keep claiming, they wouldn't get that chance, would they?
