My desktop can handle all the various themes on Yuku pretty well. My laptop and most other computers I've tried, however, cannot. Scrolling gets unbearably slow, no matter what theme I select at the bottom (no, "No Translucency" doesn't seem to fix the issue any).
Maybe we can have a plain-color theme for the various boards? Y'know, for the poor folk like myself who scroll slower than molasses.
No plain colour themes for me, thankyouverymuch! I want variety! I want diversity! I want vibrancy! I want... uh... yeah.
It was going to be optional anyway, so relax.
One thing I do find that eliminates the slow scrolling problem is opening up Internet Explorer as opposed to Firefox, if only for this forum.
How well does it handle the directory listing?
IIRC, relatively well, but I don't actually remember. I'll let you know next time I'm on my laptop.
If you're using Firefox, switch off "Use smooth scrolling" in it's options. That'll fix it.
Actually, no. I do know what you mean, as I've experimented with it in an attempt to speed it up, but despite it being miles worse with it on, that wasn't the issue. It's more lag than anything else; I hit the down key (or click on the scroll bar or whatever), and the site takes a second to actually respond with moving the page. With smooth scrolling on, it's that for each "frame" of the smooth scroll (so, basically, several times worse).
I half-wonder if the non-scrolling backgrounds in the back have anything to do with it. If they were plain color, maybe I'd have more success there?
I'll note that one of the worst offenders is the SPA, if it means anything. The Pokémon scheme worst of all, "SPA Original" best (but not by much).
I should really experiment more on this with my laptop, but I don't feel like leaving my desktop right now...
EDIT: on laptop now, and I can confirm: the main forum listing scrolls TONS better than the forums themselves.
Testing it on my phone. Seems to scroll just fine. Damn Opera Mobile, have to use quick reply as the text box in the normal reply refuses to activate.

I have the same issue on this hunk of junk computer
Also at the library, it's not a problem. You know why? Cause my library blocks all the images. D:
Funny enough, I've been having this issue, but it's gotten a lot better since I was last on, this forum being better than some others.
To whoever actually implemented this idea: thank you have my children
