why is hybrid back? less than 10 people like it 🙁 change back plz

also "Which movie did you see last?" and "What Are You Reading?" topics were moved to spa, doesn't seem like appropriate topic moves...

*includes herself in those ten people* :p

as for the topic moves, i'm not sure who did those or why. when the forum is in that format, large topics like the 'what are you reading?' tend to get moved to the MFC2 forum.

Yeah, we're in hybrid because it's what the themes are more suited to and the topics were relocated because they were big.

Issues:

EDIT - All issues taken care of apart from the possibility of changing the default theme that's overwritten by the JS.

Sonic{sonic heroes buttons} needs a bgcolour that matches the edge of the background image. *

Classic Sonic{omake.bmp background} also needs a matching bgcolour. It needs to be white, not lilac.

The dark MF mascots theme with the Fexusfan bg also needs a matching bgcolour.

The light collage theme's background isn't aligned and doesn't repeat. *

Green Hill continues the bgcolour trend and the users online image doesn't extend down beneath the grass header into the table that actually displays the people online.

Also, importing some random bland theme to MFC in the ezboard CP may cut down loading problems.

* Only an issue on higher resolutions.

I may end up adding more once more themes circulate.

"Classic Sonic{omake.bmp background} also needs a matching bgcolour. It needs to be white, not lilac."

".bmp"

".bmp"

Anyway. How is the rotation done? Personal experience and HSW's 6th issue suggest that there's one default theme that's loaded first and then as the page loads some sort of css+scripting magic loads the appropriate theme from the rotation on top of it If this is the case, then I agree that the base theme should be as absolutely lightweight as possible rather than using GHZ as the base.

Also, a lot of the themes use link colours that are the same as the normal text colour. Is it too much to ask that this be changed? I find it annoying and I'm fairly sure I'm not the only one.

EDIT: Whoa. I went to edit this page and the following text appeared at the top of the screen (above the posting tools button) in a small green font:

I don't know who moved them to the SPA, but I moved them to MFC2 for you.

After all, SPA shouldn't be stealing MFC2's reputation as a forum where topics go... to DIE!!! or anything. It gets enough traffic as-is!

Yeah, this truly sucks... The hybrid format just clutters the place up.

If I remember correctly, the rotating themes were used when we changed MFC to the standard look.

Also, why the hell are the "Movies" and "Books" threads in the SPA? Those never were and never will be spam topics. If anything, they should be in MFC2...

And the 12 themes rotation thing is stupid. We already did this before guys. Same themes too. It was cool back then, but now it just reeks of laziness.

This forum needs to be renamed EWC and not EVC.

i've been getting that glitch through the mofo forums for awhile now, i first noticed it in cooki's spam topic in the SPA. we're not really certain so far what's causing it.

it seems to post the first paragraph of the topic you're viewing/replying to.

I usually add .bmp since that's the format it is on the s&kcollection disc. You're right, the themes are JS that overrides the usual theme. The actual script can be found here if you search for "case 1". Oh, and Vec himself was probably the one who put the topics in the SPA. Also, I edited my first post in this topic like ten times today and never encountered the glitch.

Just to air my opinion, I too dislike hybrid view. It just means I have to scroll more and get nothing out of it. Call me lazy but I prefered it as it was. =/

HYBRID MFC MAKES FOR APOCOLYPSE

Yeah @ HSW. In that case, the base theme should definitely be as minimal as possible. Hell, maybe not even have a base theme as far as ez allows because, srsly, who's using non-JS-compatible browsers these days? Maybe just the bare minimum to appear presentable for people who have it turned off for whatever reason, but no more. Anything else wastes loading time.

And I must also voice my distate for hybrid layout. I find it horridly ugly and rather inconvenient when there are lots of very large topic. The only advantage I see to it is being able to see who's replying to who, but even if people used the reply buttons properly (which I believe mainly only oldbies do and not even some of them) I would still consider that only a very minor advantage. Is it all possible to have tabled layout but with the expanded reply tree at the bottom of every page of a thread? That would give the best of both worlds, IMO.

I like it and find it rather convenient so I can reply to the post I want without someone trying to make it seem like I was talking to them.

Strange. Is MFC supposed to switch between hybrid and table format?

Maybe it goes with the table background when the background is minimal and hybrid when you kind of want to see the pretty background...:p

Hybrid is pretty. <3 The only problem I remember having with it is that when I was on dial-up, it would take 2 minutes to load the whole page. But then that was true about a lot of pages! ^-^
