I'm not sure wether this would be a problem with the site, EZbarf or my own computer, but I'll post it here just incase.

I have just been updating the Transformers RP currently going on in the RP Guild...I typed up my post, proofread it to make sure of any mistakes, then posted it and accessed the topic again to give it a final check over before I moved on to another RP, and I noticed this quote, taken from about half way down the post:

Quote:

His trailer seemed to compact itself for a moment, before splitting into two and extending ebilurlds to form huge, heavily armoured pillars of legs

(bold added)

'Ebilurids', whatever it is, was not the word I typed into my post...what it was supposed to read was 'outwards'. The strangest thing of all, however, was that when I selected EDIT to change the word back to what it was supposed to be, the text in the post box read 'outwards' just like it was supposed to! I had nothing to change! I have no idea why in the post it changed, but when I try to edit it back, it says it is completely normal.

I have noticed this same thing happen before on this board in other RPs...occasionally I like to go back and re-read some of the old stories to bring back memories of them, and this substituting of nonsence for words has happened in those archived RPs as well. It seems to be certain words that trigger it, like the word 'outwards' and a few others, however I did not bring this up when I spotted it in the old RPs because I assumed it was simply an afteraffect of the data corruption from the hack a few years ago. This is the first time I have noticed it happen in a modern thread, however it may have happened since and I simply haven't noticed it until now, I'm not sure.

So...anyone any ideas on this? It's got me completely foxed :

EDIT: It's doing it here too! Wherever I try and post the word that it was supposed to read, it changes it to the wrong one! The word is supposed to be 'o u t w a r d s'

That's due to an old spam link which affected the site a few years ago. Out Wars is an online game where people who clicked their Out Wars URL would get points for prizes.

Thusly, it was added as a censored word to prevent linkage.

I feel it's been long enough for the censor to be removed.

Oooooh kk, that would explain it lol. Interesting, must be one of the most unique situations I've ever come across on a forum.

There are one or two other words that seem to transform into random letters like that too, but I can't offhand remember any examples. Were there a few of these spam links for different things?

The javascript censor has a list of words to preserve. That word and the others can be added to it.

I had to work on this one to figure out what the person typed but considering it revealed "sDr. McDoomzored"

I'm assuming he typed sniggered.

Testing:

script

Okay, I'd actually typed "o u t w a r d", and it was censored. "Script" is unchanged.

This is the type of issue I find rather annoying. Like the "Lord Acrio-sama" thing a few months back.
