Several things.

What is Flaming?
What is Ban Jumping?
What is Censor Jumping?

And were you guys attacked by the LOLZ also? Legends Incarnate was attacked by them a couple of years ago.

Edit: oh and what is a Troll?

Most of these things you can find answered (or at least more
detailed) in the Rules topic (found here:
http://sonichqcommunity.yuku.com/topic/4264/t/MF-Rules-Mandatory-Reading-Last-Edited-Jan-22-2009.html
, see second post for elaborated version of the rules (I know it says you don’t
have to read that post, but it can be pretty useful when trying to learn more
about the rules and what they mean)).

For example, under “flaming” it says (bold font added by me
for summarizing purposes):  “Don't resort to petty insults, name
calling, or personal attacks.
Friendly, joking insults are allowed,
provided the target (and, preferrably, all others present) understands your
intent and is comfortable with it, but on occasions when any member expresses a
concern that it may be or become flaming, it must cease. When you're just
kidding, try to make your intent explicitly clear by saying so, including a
"j/k," adding an appropriate smiley, or using some other method.”

Ban Jumping is when you’re banned, but you attempt to bypass
it by posting with a different account.

Censor Jumping (I normally see it referred to it as Censor
Dodging) is when you try to get around the filter that automatically censors
words (such as profanity/swear words).
For example, let’s say the word “badword” normally gets caught by the
censor and changed to “*******”, but you decide to try to go around the censor
by typing “b-a-d-w-o-r-d,” which ends up appearing in the post as typed.  In that case you would be censor dodging.

For Troll, here’s the definition given by Wikipedia:  “In Internet slang, a troll is someone
who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online
community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room or blog, with the
primary intent of provoking other users into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic
discussion.”  (definition taken from here:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troll_%28Internet%29
, and just in case it’s useful, here’s the article on flaming as well:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flaming_%28Internet%29
)

As for LOLZ, I don’t seem to recall anything regarding that
(I’m not even sure if that’s supposed to stand for anything in particular), so
I’m going to say no.  If someone else
knows what that’s about, then feel free to correct me.

Hope this helps^^

You're welcome^^ And ah, I see what you mean now. However, for that post, the "lolz" is basically just a different way of saying "lol", so it isn't referring to the "LOLZ" group that you were asking about.

Ok, well I was worried that they had attacked here to. They have a couple of very good hackers on there team.

So if the forum randomly gets a lot of users with LOLZ in their username, BAN THEM IMMEDIATELY!!!

Well, back in oh about 2005 we, as in Yuku (EZBoard back then) as a whole, was hacked but I don't know if they ever found out who caused the EZHack.

Perhaps it's for the better. Considering that many forums lost most of our history, people would probably have called for their heads.

When the EzBoards' servers were hit, it wiped out a metric ton of old data. Data that EzBoard never bothered to back up. As a result, we lost entire portions of the MoFo's history.

We recovered some of it through caches and through archival searches, but the majority of it is gone. If you've ever seen a post that reads "This post is missing and cannot be restored," that's what happened to it.

Here's an example. The first post is fine, but every post after it is gone.

I heard that the hacker even got to some of the backups somehow, don't remember exactly though.

Quantom X, hello. The ban announcements thread is replied to by people who just banned somebody. They tell you who they banned, and maybe how long they wish that person will stay banned.  If someone is unbanned, that is not announced.

Really?  I remember hearing that they didn't have any backups.

Or perhaps, they did it for "LULZ": a corruption of L O L, which stands for Laugh Out Loud.
