Sorry.
You must not talk to me much anymore, Craigey. You're back to taking my sarcasm seriously again.
That seems to be the problem here though, so I'm going to bow out and let the others handle it.

Rico that was way too long what did you do that for.
Quote:
A) We built a chat for you to use. No Drama.
B) We set up standard rules like "No Vulgarity". Drama from YOU*.
C) Rules weren't enforced as they should. No Drama.
D) Rules start being enforced. Drama from YOU*.
Isn't this a really unfair way of putting it? The rules themselves are the stimulus for the drama because of the perceived unfairness, and people wouldn't be getting onery about this all if the first halves of B and C hadn't happened.
I'm legendarily bad with drawing comparisons and people that know me know this, but didn't white folks say this to all the minorities back when they were causing a huge ruckus over what rights they were not getting their rights as Americans back in the 1950's or so? "You're the ones causing all the chaos, why don't you just sit down and accept the way of things"-ish. Then again, the MoFo isn't a democracy, and the rules don't apply to a certain group, they're equal to everyone - but the same thing is being said to those that do not like the rules and punishment as-is.
Playing with the list like that doesn't really do anything
The rest of Rico's book is more important and pretty much agrees with you that it's not fair to dismiss things as drama. Which is what he was saying to Boston o.o

Of course, but it's what being thrown at us so I'm just parroting the same silly accusations right back at the accusers.

EDIT: Nevermind, ignore this post. Couldn't find a link, but I have one now.
The bottom line is that if you wanna use the Flashchat, abide by its rules and accept enforcement from those who are in charge of that. If you don't want to deal with that, then find this new chat and go there instead.
That's not that hard to understand, no?
i'm surprised it took us three pages to get here
why would you be
This topic isn't a reflection on how long it took us to understand that or even who understands that, just that we all ramble a lot like I am right now
Not caring about the other stuff, but public computers can't use IRCs, so I feel all left out and hope that perhaps the chat can use an ****** that those of us without mommy and daddy's laptops can also visit.
EDIT: SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN TO ME WHY THE WORD A P P L E T IS CENSORED.
lol @ A PPLET being censored.
I might have a work around for you Astrid... I have Modzilla's FireFox installed on a Flashdrive... It's only 20MB, and you should be able to access the IRC through that.
Someone else could probably confirm if that's would solve your problem or not.
I have firefox. It's the antivirus system on my network that stops all IRC applications from loading. It's not unusual for most public networks.
Applet is censored because there exists a HTML tag <APPLET> that can be used to embed Java programs in a webpage, which is not the kind of power you want to give to any Tom, Dick or Harry that visits your board. Really it should be <APPLET that is censored since that would catch all malicious uses of the tag without preventing discussion of it, but that's a matter for whoever manages the censor on this whacky forum. Not to mention it's not even valid HTML anymore. However most browsers probably support it for backwards-compatibility reasons, so it being deprecated doesn't matter much.

There's a new chat? What new chat? *lost* Or do you mean this new IRC chat is the new chat? o.o;
I've never really been crazy about how the rules are enforced. X3 And I DO follow them. So meh. XP
Personally I place the blame on the way the staff handle things and I agree with the rest of y'all that the way the rules are set up...you're kind of trapping us into making it sound like it's our fault. And it's not. The rules are the source of the drama, NOT the other way around.
So MEH! XP
Well, you hate the staff anyway. I state this as a fact you have stated yourself multiple times.
It isn't trapping anyone - they can always go to another board or chat. The freedom is entirely open to people to make their own boards and chats, the technology is there. So nobody is being forced to stay here against their will.
Well there are individual staff members that I don't hate Terg. ^^; And I do have fun here on many occasions.
My issue is more with being respected than anything else.
Respect is a two way street.

Said the fox with the tits and I agree.
So, what regulations (other than proper Internet etiquette) are in place for the IRC chatroom?
none, really (besides the dalnet terms of service, which i haven't read yet). if you don't act like a dick, you'll be fine.
Hmm...I kinda have a problem.
I downloaded that mIRC thingy, but I'm not too sure what else I'ma sposed to do >>;
I mean, I clicked on the icon which is now on my desktop, typed in the chat and all, but all what keeps coming up is a blank screen, even though it says I've joined the chat oO
Sounds like you're on the wrong server. Default behaviour for IRC is that if you try to join a chatroom that doesn't exist, that rooms is created and you're given operator priveleges.
I don't have mIRC in front of me to check the exact window layout, but on the connection window (option-window-looking thing that comes up after you get past all the "your trial is about to/already has expired plz give me all ur money" crap) should allow you to choose the server you want to connect to. The server you want is irc.dal.net. Once you've connected to the server (a crapton of text should scroll by) type "/join #mf_chat" (without quotes) join the chat.
i don't use mirc, but i think this is what you're supposed to do. hopefully there's something here you didn't do.
when you open mIRC, you should see a window that prompts you to fill in your nick, email, etc. click on "Servers" under the menu on the left, then select DALnet from the list that appears. double-click a server underneath the DALnet folder (i don't think it really matters which one), fill out your nick, and press ok. once it says you're connected, type "/join mf_chat" into the textbox.
i hope you can get in. we miss your presence, abi
heh, thanks, it works.
*hugs decky*
