Ben Bates is pretty awesome.
Best artist they've ever had? Up there with the likes of Yardley and Spaz anyway.
Doesn't look all that different from Yardley's style. Just maybe with the intensity raised up a notch.
...
I'm okay with this.
I wonder if that green Armidillo is Mighty's long lost sister.
That's what many speculate yes, but with the way Ian likes to tease, I'm not so sure if that's his sister or not.
I really do like the art done here. I'm sad to see a decent story and I somehow missed it so I will have to tune it to see how this turns out. Really like how this guy does expressions
The art in this issue was great. Great dialogue between Sonic and Bunnie, too. I love how Ian is able to introduce new characters for about 4 panels, and they're already more interesting than 'new' Segasonic characters.
I really, really like the touch with Sonic stealing Bunnie's hat during the fight. And then replacing it only moments later. That is a classic Sonic-type snarky move.
I haven't actually been, you know, keeping up with the comic since Ian took over (all the copies I got to read were pre-Ian), but these first few pages are really tight. It's easy to follow the flow of the story, and while I'm sure there are probably some other surprises there, I think I can guess what happens next.
Got the issue and thought it was good, a bit lacking in a solid conclusion but it's most likely set up for future arcs. I actually preferred the Snively story at the end, but that's probably because I just like Snively. I will say that Ben Bates was terrific on art, hope to see more of him.
