What have you liked about the comic since Ian Flynn became the head writer? (Better dialog, death of Tommy, Sally back in action instead of crying all the time)
What have you liked about the comic since Ian Flynn became the head writer?
It'd be a shorter list to cover what I haven't liked since Ian took over writing..
-Can't think of anything.
See? Short List!

I get it, reverse psychology!
Positives:
1.) Good at character development.
2.) Good at wrapping up loose ends.
3.) Faithful to the Knuckles side of stories.
4.) Good at adapting more Sega Sonic characters into the book.
5.) Strong knowledge on the games helps out the two books.
6.) Both he and Tracy are keeping the book fresh.
7.) Fintivus.
Negatives:
1.) Stories feel way too fast-paced. (Partially due to them only getting half a book for the main story.)
2.) Doesn't quite have the humour that Joe had for Sonic X.
3.) Needs to work on twists. We could see Fiona's backstabbing a mile away. It would have been more of a suprise if she was NOT a traitor.
4.) Scourge.
1 ) Sonic desperately needs to grow up. Admittedly, his time away (which actually took some time away) puts him at a disadvantage, so to speak; but for crying out loud, he's 18, yet he still acts the same as when he was 16. This is especially noticable during the last few issues. I'm hoping that we get to see him serious mature, hopefully during the 175-176 arc. And if we could see Sonic make 90% less stupid remarks, all the better. As a matter of fact, Silent Sonic would be kinda cool... But that's just me. I'll settle for a more mature Sonic.
2 ) I do appreciate Ian finally giving most of the characters their own place in the Sonicverse. For a lot of characters, this meant the graveyard, but hey, Tommy was long-overdue anyway.
Bah, that's all I can think of at the moment. Altogether, though, not that bad.

i don't know about that, i like the jokes especially when he was pounding the crap out of Bean. but that's what i like about him, so long as they don't make him TOO childish then i'm allright with it.
(i dont post here enough, although i have like almost every sonic comic made >.>; )
I like how the story incorporates loose ends being neatly tied, and new known, yet totally unknown enemies. For example, we all know "Eggman" is out there, and his plots have always been againsed sonic, but he's always the one to have the last laugh and a massive plan. I like how the Mongrel is no longer using an emerald as his heart (so to speak) and is relying on his own powers. Also, i like how knuckles is joining in the stories more, but that all leaves the angel island/Dr. Finitevus thing shrouded in mystery, as we only get quick glimpses of whats leading up to something. The Fiona thing was surprising and cool too.
Overall, i like how the story is, and i will of course, continue to keep reading it. I think its the most interesting thing going for the blue hedgehog yet!
(yes, that was directed at Ian's work, although i didnt mention his name.)
I want Sonic to eventually grow up and become more responible, I don't think that means you have to totally give up his fun side. If Sonic becomes more mature, it would be a change for the better IMO because he can learn from his mistakes and have better relationships with his friends.
Snively finally getting a bit more attention... I realize that his biggest thing so far is trying to kill knuckles to get his hair back, but hey, it totally fits Snively's character. ((Though I am wondering... how the heck did he get them back into his scalp? If he went with hair plugs I think he would have just gotten a full head of hair again.))
he is just a drooling toadie now. He was better at being a full force villain but now he is nothing but moguls toadie
I've just come back to the comic after quite a while away so Ian if really the only writer I've known. He gets so much out of the characters though ,thats what I love. I can see myself re-reading these books.
Hey there. S'always good to have new fans of the comic. Or old ones returning.
I like the pacing in Ian's work. Yes it can be a bit fast (Part 3 of Darkest Storm) but that is better to me than dragging_on_and_on. The stories feel fresh and exciting even after I reread them. Tho maybe Trace should get some credit for that he's art seems to pare well with Ian's style. Specially when designing the vechiles/mechs-- Egg Lobster FTW.
Character wise I like Fini who seems like a capable threat. And Bean who is nutso. Balances it out I think (not all villains should put the heroes into MEGA DEF CON 5 ALERT). Sonic is witty again. The Chaotix have personality and not 4 guys who all act alike. Ant can win a fight but is still a doof sometimes. ^_^
Not so much stuff I didn't like, maybe a lot of death recently. While necessary (the cast was huge, there hadn't been major losses to the heros in awhile and it provided emotional growth) and not gratutios they were "downers". And I'm just not a fan of sad stories in general. *shrug*
I say this as nicely as possible...
But what is there to like?!?
Seriously! The story's have no real heart to them anymore! They are WAAYYY too quick and the two things that connected me to the series in the first place...
1. Fan Love
2. How controlled everything seemed to be!
I mean, IMO the comic is nothing but a free-for-all now! Before it seemed paced, under control, and well-written.
At first, Ian was good, but now he tries to write a real touching moment and it just doesn't do anything for me.
All I know is:
If the comic continues on this track, they'll be losing a fan.

This is like the total opposite for me. I think that when Ian took over, the whole book just kind of turned around. To me it seemed like Ken had just kind of given up. All the characters seemed the same. It was too controlled. The comic had turned into a book with no emotion and monotonious dialouge. Now its finally getting back on track.
I've started rereading a few issues into Ian's run. I had been reading since issue 34, and only missing 19 issues before stopping at 150. I'll started losing interest in the early 140s. After reading 145-149, I was like "Did we need that many issues for this story?" and decided to let my subscription run out at 150. I decided to pick up issues if I had the money and was in the area of the local bookshop.
After picking up 166-170 and searching these forum and Wikipedia, I felt that I missed alot since Ian had taken over. For now, I've resubscribed and ordered any missing issues post 150. Thank you Ian for renewing my interest in the comic!
i've been off again- on again on the comic for well, almost all of my life. i remember back during the whole xorda wanting to destroy mobius thing, i truly thought after sonic gave his "life" to save mobius i thought that was it. that the comic stopped after that.
would've been a good way to end it if you ask me, but then years later i find out the comics still alive n kicking and now my interest is back. despite, all of the changes.

We ALL (with a few exceptions) started losing intrest in the early 40s! That was more than likely the worst year for the Sonic comic. However now that we got IAN FLYNN this comic has simply became great! The way he handles each and every character is truely amazing. The fact that he writes stories to please us long time fans other than write worthless garbage as in Ken Penders' last 10-12 issues is what impresses me! Let's just hope and pray that we've seen the last of Romy Chacon and any other abomination to write for this comic!
I lost interest at M:25YL Part 2. It was Aweful. I must say, I am not a big fan of Ian for quite a few reasons, most of them related to relationships, and I only buy an issue every so often.
from what i've seen M:25YL ver. 2 was a huge flop. shadow being king? wtf...
What I hated most was the Fight in Part 2. Laura-Sue VS Shadow!
2 mins into the fight:
LS: Chaos control!
Shadow: *freezes*
Sonic: *takes Shadow's wife* Let's have kids!
Seriously...
I was hoping to hear from people who had left the comic but have since come back to it.
Does it really matter if we left the comic or not if we all felt the same about the previous crap compared to the current gold?
I just find it interesting. You do have a point, though.
I'm surprised at the comments that Ian's being too fast-paced. He only gets 14-pages a month for the main stories, he kind of has to be fast-paced - that or be hyper-dense with lots panels & dialogue crammed in on every page.
I think the pace of the comic is fine the way it is! If we try to cram too much dialouge on the pages it would come out sounding like a college mid-term essay!
Well the first issue i ever got was 154( and really liked it ) and from that point i kept buying back-issues( some great some... not so great-but i'm fine with them in my Collection ) But at 160( and that point on ) I loved the comic even more! I love how everything is fixed up, The Games are slightly more tied in with it( The Chao's, And the Black Arms ) And overall everything is better than it was before. And i can't wait for what happens in 175 because Ian's doing a great job keeping me on the edge of my seat with 174, So those are my thoughts.
Not a relationship discussion - simply a comment on how relationships relate to the story, but:
I have to confess that I'm getting a little edgy as far as Ian goes on that front, myself. As I've said elsewhere, I get rather concerned with the way that Sonic and Sally seem to've been backsliding - and I'd much rather that Ant and Bunnie's wedding had actually been about Ant and Bunnie, rather than Sonic and Sally making wistful googly-eyes at each other and everyone talking about them.
I like the way that Ian writes relationships when characters're in them - I was an Other-M fan from the start - but I still feel as though, in trying to slip back into a SatAM vibe with Sonic and Sally ("Princess of Power" and all 'round Mary-Sue), he's sliding back into a stagnation that the comic'd spent several years working to get over.

OMG, I'm not alone on thinking that. ME SO HAPPY! ">
