Well,
Wikipedia says that Warp Rings were invented by Doctor Finitevus... how accurate is this?
I know Fin was a chaos genius and all that, but that he invented Warp Rings seems a bit much. And haven't Warp Rings been in the games? Have they appeared in the comic before Fin came along?
I was wondering if anyone could tell me the true origins of Warp Rings?
Don't know if it was ever said he personally created them, but Warp Rings have become incredibly prolific in the comic since Finny came aboard.
They were in the games when they took you to Special Stages to try for a Chaos Emerald.
There might be evidence of them from one of the way earlier Sonic issues. Check one of the ones where Knux guest-starred.
Warp Rings were in the Sonic Blast special issue, if I recall correctly.
The Sonic Blast Warp Rings were caused by a Chaos Emerald that the Flickies had; Finitevus invented the Warp Rigns in use now. If you've read issue #182, it explains that he invented them and infused them with his black Chaos energy. The only reason they seem prolific is because he uses them himself-and keeps them on him at all times-, gives them to his minions to use, had one stolen from him by Rouge, and gave one to Locke to get him out of the way.
It just says in #182 that finitevus used the chaos force for his "New, dangerous inventions" with a shot of Fin with some of his black chaos power, and a warp ring. Does this spcifically mean that the rings are the 'dangerous inventions'?
Could anybody tell me what issue the sonic blast special is in?
I'm pretty sure it was one of the earlier Super Sonic Specials, though I'm not sure which one.
It was a seasonal special, before the Supers took place. I read it recently (worst dialogue ever), and I don't recall that much was stated about the Warp Rings. They were just... there. But it did say that it would take them to where the Chaos Emerald was. So it was just a passageway, a door to the gem. There really wasn't any significance of the Warp Ring.
