According to this thread at Shout Factory, AoStH is slated for a release later this year if the SatAM box set sells well. Yippee!
I'll get BOTH!
Sweet! According to the thread, the first volume is already in pre-production and slated for release July 17th! That's just plain awesome! Brian sure works fast!
This year just keeps getting better and better. I'd probably pick this up.
Hey, gang! I posted the following over at Sonic Stadium, as well, but I'm interested in hearing input from anywhere I can get it! Please feel free to leave me comments here or there. I'll be here regularly, from here on out... Thanks!
Hey, guys. I'm happy to announce that the upcoming set is, in fact, official. I'm actually in the pre-production phase, even as I write this. Basically, this means that I'm reviewing the episodes--and laughing my ass off!--, waiting to go through original concept art, discussing packaging, and developing ideas for bonus material.
I've been told throughout the net that I don't so much have to worry about bonus material on this set, since the fans will buy it anyway. Riiiiight. Let me give you a little bit about my background. I'm a DVD junkie, plain and simple. If I have a vice besides going to the movies, it's buying DVDs. And I'm a FIRM believer in giving the consumers a good reason to buy their favorite shows aside from the obvious. I often do this by communicating directly with the fans themselves. In other words, I let you tell me what would make you happy.
Now that being said, something else MUST follow: Not every idea expressed is doable. I want you to understand that I'm using you guys as a sounding board. I want to make sure you're all happy with the set(s), but I also have to make sure they bonus material is cleared with both DiC and SEGA. If either of them shoot it down, it's off the table. If it's not financially feasible, it's off the table. And it has to make sense. For instance, getting voice actors to do commentaries doesn't really make sense. For starters, to them, it was a job. They walked into a recording booth, recorded their dialogue and then walked away to record dialogue for another 30 TV series later in the day. Getting them to sit down and talk about standing in a booth reading a script isn't the most exciting commentary.
SO...
Please. Give me your opinions. What would make the perfect Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog box set?

Brian!
Good to see you here! I'm glad you found this great ol' place!
Pleasure's mine, EnergyEmerald. Thanks.
Brian
My only real desire is that you manage to get all 66 episodes (including the Christmas Blast) episode on there. It'd be terrible for it to be a complete series set but missing a few episodes because of legal loopholes or something. For me, anything else would be gravy =p. Interviews with Jaleel White and the other VAs, as well as writers, would be good - maybe a retrospective look at John Baldry (I think that was the name of the Robotnik actor who passed away). A feature looking at how the games inspired the cartoon would be awesome, but I don't think, legally, you'd be able to pass it (not to mention it'd be a lot of work). To be honest, having the box set released is just enough of a thrill for me; I live in Australia and I'm already saving to have it (and the SatAM box set) imported. =D
(Although on that note, any idea if they're planned for overseas release?)
AoStH, unlike SatAM, is heavily humor-based. Therefore, I think the features should largely be humorous and light. In-character audio commentaries, mockumentaries, extras which parody the "Sonic Says" feature. I know some of these might be unfeasible or difficult, but they're just ideas I would like to throw out there.
That's noooo good!
If only Sega would allow it... haha.
Unfortunately, I just got back going through DiC's archives yesterday and they had NOTHING in terms of character concept art. A few generic images, but nothing conceptual.
Still looking to see if there's a possibility of getting in touch with Milton Knight. Perhaps he has something Robotnik-related to contribute.
Fingers crossed.
Brian
I'd love to have a mocumentary about what Scratch and Grounder did after they were laid off. I'm certain Dr. Robotnik didn't give them a good recommendation and that their
As for other ideas for features, maybe some montages would be fun. Like a montage of best one liners from Scratch and Grounder. I still remember Scratch exclaiming "You Moron-a-thon!"
Only other idea I have is it might be interesting to have a short documentary about the voice actor who played Robotnik. I remember hearing that he was a somewhat famous singer and also that he died recently; it would be interesting to hear about his life.
Edit: I had skimmed through the board before, and it looks like Matt Maniac had a similar idea to this one. Consider it seconded.
That's SO good! Can't wait!
It was a great pleasure of mine to speak with Mr. Milton Knight yesterday. Looks like we could be good to go for an on-camera interview, but I have to get the details hammered out. Looking forward to meeting him and hearing everything he has to say about his time at DiC. By the brief conversation I had with him and his website, he seems like a really great guy and I'm really looking forward to it. Thanks for the suggestion, guys. I'll keep you all up-to-date!
Brian

No thanks. I hated that show. That robot chicken's laugh is still horrible. "Ha, ha. Ha HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!!!"
Just noticed on Amazon that the UK are getting it in 4 seperate DVDs (although the boxset will also be available).
However, they've gotten the boxart all wrong
It matches the other Sonic artwork from the era the series was made in - although at least the second illustration gets the freakin' series right... :-/
Although how do you know that those won't be the covers for the separate volumes in the US version, too? There're at least three. 🙂
I've always loved this show when I was little. Its always good for laughs and I'm glad theyre finally putting all episodes out but wasn't there a Christmas episode in this series??
Yeah, there was, apparently starring Princess Sally, and again apparently never said a word in the whole thing.
Hm why would she be in AoStH?
Does this DVD set include all the episodes or just one season? I also heard there were some unreleased episodes that got aired...what do you guys know about this??
Promotional cartoon tie-ins?
Not sure but I was reading the link at the top of this thread and going down I read
""Responding to an ongoing demand in the marketplace for brand value programming, DIC Ent. will offer 91 half-hour animated episodes in the TOTALLY SONIC! package, which includes a private collection of never-before-seen episodes available for the first time to international buyers in all major language versions, at booth 17.01 during MIPCOM.
TOTALLY SONIC! includes digitally re-mastered, color-enhanced versions of original episodes from SONIC THE HEDGEHOG and SONIC CHRISTMAS, with new contemporary music and main titles. Additionally, DIC will unveil SECRET SONIC, an all new directors cut episodes of SONIC."
Sounds interesting...
I'm the one who posted that, Speed Demon88. It was brought up on these forums several years ago, and nothing has been heard of since. I dunno if Brian ever looked into it or not.
Yes, she was there. However, it was the pink Sally from early Archie/SatAM, and she appeared a presence with a handful of frames that mostly just stood there like a slack-jawed waxwork and didn't actually have any dialogue.
Sonic's goal for the episode was initially to find her a Christmas present. I think that the whole idea was to bridge the gap between AoStH and Archie/SatAM.
The proof comes after about four minutes of viewing here (or in the third part - which is linked off this clip - when Sonic gives her her gifts). I was going to post a screenshots from my RM file, since it'd be easier on people - but I didn't realise that RealPlayer wouldn't let me even use PrtScr with it.
And TOTALLY SONIC! was a package put together for selling to media companies for syndication, advertised in the industry press - it wasn't meant to be a commercial release.
We've already had a topic on the R2 release for a couple of weeks, and it's still at the bottom of the first page.
I didn't mention it before, but I've actually got a WMV of the Christmas episode, and the episode won't be in the DVD releases.
I take no responsibility for anyone who PMs me and asks for a copy...
I cant wait to pick this up and hope for the rest of the volumes to be released. I rally hope this does well cause i would like to see more episodes, since bascially i havent seen every single one, so this is a great chance.
*waves*

Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog is a popular videogame cartoon show and we need to buy Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog Volume 1 DVD Set to boost sales to get Volumes 2 and 3 of Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog released on DVD and spread the word to other Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog fans to promote the DVD of Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog Volume 1 to get Volumes 2 and 3 of Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog released on DVD!
P.S. I want to see Volumes 2 and 3 of Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog get released on DVD to get to complete the entire collection! How are the sales doing for Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog Volume 1?
Jonny
Last I heard Volume 2 and 3 were a sure thing, they just haven't had time to start work on them yet.
To all AOSTH fans,
AOSTH is a popular videogame cartoon show and we need to buy AOSTH Volume 1 DVD Set to boost sales to get Volumes 2 and 3 of AOSTH released on DVD and spread the word to other AOSTH fans to promote the DVD of AOSTH Volume 1 to get Volumes 2 and 3 of Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog released on DVD! Is AOSTH Volume 2 and 3 a sure thing to be released in 2008 that I will get to complete the entire collection? When will they start work on Volume 2 and 3 of Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog on DVD? Are sales picking up for AOSTH Volume 1 on DVD? Is AOSTH Volume 1 selling very well on DVD? How many people bought AOSTH Volume 1 on DVD?
Jonny
We heard you the first time, Johnny. I'm asking you nicely this time, but next time, it'll be a warning:
Please read the rules of the forum and don't spam.
Telling Johnny not to do something is like telling...well, someone who keeps doing things not to do something. He's like this everywhere he's at.
I am sorry that I asked the same question of when Volume 2 and 3 of Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog will be released on DVD. Did you get my question of is Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog Volume 2 and 3 a sure thing and also got my question of when they are going to start work on Volumes 2 and 3 of Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog on DVD? Thank you and have a good day.
Jonny
People already started answering that before you repeated the question the first time, Johnny...
I just hope that Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog Volume 1 sells more copies to get Volume 2 and 3 released. How many copies for AoSTH Volume 1 have to be sold to get Volume 2 and 3 made and get released to complete the AoSTH collection containing 66 episodes?
Jonny
Alot more than what has been sold. Don't get your hopes up.
What does a lot more than what has been sold for Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog Volume 1 to let Shout! Factory produce and release Volume 2 and 3 of Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog on DVD? Thank you.
Jonny
I had the pleasure of being able to obtain this set not too long ago; it's a great set that contains some memorable episodes that I enjoy (Slow Going is the very first ep I ever saw).
One of the best moments comes in Tails' New Home:
Sonic: You spelled "kidnapped" with a "c."
Robotnik: So? When I take total control of Mobius, that's the way everyone will spell it.
There's also "Subterranean Sonic," I believe, where Sonic pretends to audit Scratch and Grounder to get back the treasure they're taking. That scene is priceless.
Are sales picking up for AoSTH Volume 1 on DVD yet?
Jonny
Not yet, come back in a year or two.
