Archie, it turns out, publishes its Statements of Ownership, Management, and Circulation, meaning they say to the government what they're selling. And looking at their sales figures, it has been found...

Sonic is, on average, their highest selling regular-sized title, with an average of 34,694 an issue. (Remember this is covering newsstands, bookshops etc as well as comic shops, so this is its figures after the newsstands have returned unsold copies)

It's completely outclassed in sales by Archie's eight digests (their lowest being 54,000) but that still leaves Sonic as Archie himself on average. (The numbers for Sonic X aren't in yet, though it'll be interesting to see how they compare to the regular title)

Outselling the flagship character who the company is named after? Damn Ian. You rock. (Now include Big more)

Yup, the Digests are the top seller - and for good reason. Next time to get into the check-out line for your groceries or some store like Wal*Mart or Target, look at the little newstand surrounding you. I'm 100% certain you'll see at least one Digest. You'll find them in most bookstoors. You'll find them on the occasional medical clinic waiting room. I think I even saw them in Home Depot once. They're everywhere. The standard comic is limited to comic book stores and some larger bookstores.

So, yeah, the Digests make a killing because they've got many times the exposure the regular books do. Still, it's a point of pride that STH is doing very well. We all have the intention of continuing that trend. And, personally, I'm always looking for a good time to bring back Big.

Any reason there's no Sonic digest, by the by? It seems it'd sell well (based on the standard-monthly sales) and there's certainly no shortage of old stuff to reprint (nearing 300 Sonics & spinoffs IIRC).

Likelihood of more Big? Brilliance.

Actually, no, I've got no idea why Sonic isn't in the Digests. It might have something to do with the way our license with Sega is worked out. I'm not familiar with the inner-workings of the Digest side of things, so I'm afraid I'm no help there (haha!)

If you like Big, Ian, I bet you're pleased as punch at Sonic Chronicles having Big as a playable character aren't, ya? BTW, the comics will have an adaption of Chronicles won't it, and if it does, have you gotten any details on it that the public doesn't know about?

Even if he had any details, he wouldn't be able to share them @Ray

True I know that still, I would like to know if he knows anything more than we do wheter he tell the specific or not. Then again, if he said he did know more, people would be bugging the heck outta him until he would have to leave, and we wouldn't want that now would we?

Woo! I've always wonder how the well the sonic comic sold. 2 years ago I used to go to the local supermarket to get sonic and I would never see anyone else besides me get one. The store used to get about 9 or 10 issues every month and a week later there would still be about 7 or 8 issues on the stand.
