Hi! This is my first post, I'm Shamus nice to meet ya! I probably confused people in hope of finding a guide on how to read the archie comics, but actually, I'm here to ask for one. I don't have much time in order to do it myself, so I'm hoping someone else does. If this would-be person could include all the specials plus mini-series plus knuckles comics that would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You sure confused me...Are you looking for Summaries of the Archie comics? If so this is your best bet...
If you're looking for how to read how to read the comics...you're in trouble...Go to some classes (sorry, I just had to do that...nothing personal...)
Does this help you? Let me be the first to welcome you to Ezboard...but let me warn you, don't get too comfortable here! We are moving here in about a month!
i think he's(she's) asking for a cchronology reading order? i think thats most likely. i wrote up one a while ago, can't seem to find it, and im in a rush, so maybe someone else can help him(her) out?

It's very difficult to say which reading order is best. I'd say your best bet would be the order of their publication. Feel free to skip the first thirty-forty or so issues if you want, however.

Hey, that's my job to warn the newbies about the move, Hiro! Anyway, welcome to the MoFo, Shamus, and though Hiro warned you about the move, I would suggest you to make an intro topic here. Have fun and hope to see you around both on this side and the Elite side.
I've already read them, this is for a friend, and I'm lazy. And I do mean the order in which they should be read, cause it makes it easier. I did one for One Piece, but that took a while, and I don't feel like doing one again. I was in a hurry to write the post, as I stated I don't have much time to do things, and proofreading my first post was one of the things I did not have time for. Shamus is a man's name by the way, and its Scotish.
Edit: Hiro0015, look at the title of the thread, it says guide in it. I think its obvious what I want.
o.o How hard could it be to do one for One Piece? Unlike the Sonic comic which has had different series and specials, One Piece is simply chronological chapters. o.o
Yeah, I was gonna say.
In any case, I can't help much, but I can make some suggestions. Firstly, you should let your friend start with issue 39 and Mecha Madness. Then, you should let him or her (I'll say him, as a gender neutral pronoun) read other issues up through 46. At that point, backtrack and let him read Sonic & Knuckles, then Chaotix, Then Super Sonic vs. Hyper Knuckles. Then the "Sonic's Friendly Nemesis Knuckles" miniseries, then the regular "Knuckles" series 1-3. Then Battle Royal. Then Endgame, only instead of issue 50 use SSS #6. From there, read all the following Sonic and Knuckles issues in chronological order. Oh, and the SSS issues. I think that's all.
I meant that I did one for the One Piece anime, finding the perfect spot to watch the movies. I made it so he would watch them right in between main story arcs, where anything could happen. I appreciate the help, but I was looking for a more perfect guide. Like the perfect spot in which to read each comic and special, but I wasn't expecting anyone to do this for me on a whim, I just wanted one that someone already had lying around. If no one has one, then I can start my own, I just thought that this would be a faster way to get it done. Don't anyone go start one unless you want one yourself, I can do it. I just thought I could save some time. Thanks anyways guys.
Sorry about the confusion Shamus...If you do make a guide, you should post it here...for future reference...
Sorry I can't contribute any ideas as to the order...I started reading #39...then skipped to #45-50...then I missed a lot...it was only at #79 when I started getting every consecutive issue...and at that point I had missed so much of the Knuckles story line that some things didn't make sense...I've started back tracking now, but that wouldn't help you at all...
I'd suggest fitting in 28 and 29 at some point, just to get the backstory for the "Chosen One" references, and Fiona.
Oh, I feel so sorry for your friend. Almost all of the One piece movies and specials were truely and utterly crap.
But the same could be said for any and all filler in anime anyway, so yeeeeeah. >.>
The Archie Sonic universe is a lot like the Star Wars expanded universe novels. Start with publications from the 1990s, but make sure you begin with a critical story arc and work from there.
Oh, never mind the avatar and sig banner. I usually use this account on a Mariah Carey EZ Board.
Chibi Edit: *turns off the avatar* that word isn't allowed here.

Super Specials #3, #5, #6, #7, #8, #9, #10, #12, and #15 can be read pretty much anywhere, as they don't have a specific place in continuity.
There's some overlap of issues - for example, Knuckles #22-#32 takes place in about the same tiem period as Sonic #68-#77, so you can mix and match a bit if you want.
Wow, Matt, that's amazing!! How did you ever come up with that, or where did you find it? I think I got alot fix right, but the specials are what I got messed up the most.
Well, I'm a little late as someone beat me to it, but I'll post mine anyway, cause this is my interpretation.
Sonic Limited 0 3
Sonic 1 18 then Sonic in your face
Sonic 19 20 then Sally mini series 1-3
Sonic 21 24 then Sonic and Kuckles
Sonic 25 26 then Sonic triple trouble
Sonic 27 29 then Tails mini series 1-3
Sonic 30 The events of Super Sonic vs. Hyper Knuckles happen just after the Chaotix is formed, but before the back story in the Chaotix comic. So read Knuckles Chaotix main story then the main story of Super Sonic vs. Hyper Knuckles then the back story of Chaotix then the back story of Super vs. Hyper.
Sonic 31 36 then Knuckles mini series 1-3
Sonic 37 39 then Mecha madness
Sonic 40 41 then Sonic quest 1- 3
Sonic 42 then Sonic live
Sonic 43 44 then Sonic blast
Sonic 45 46 then Super Special: #1 Battle Royal then start the Knuckles series. For every Sonic comic, read one Knuckles comic. There may be a bit of overlapping, but overall it should be okay, with a few exceptions, which I will mention later.
Sonic 47 50 then the Directors Cut of issue 50, or just read the directors cut, its up to you
Sonic 51 52 then Super Special: #2 Brave New World
Sonic 53 55 then make sure you have read up to Knuckles #9 then stop
Sonic 56 then Super Special: #4 Return of the King
Sonic 57 then read up to Knuckles # 11 then stop
Sonic 58 then read Knuckles # 12 and onward like before.
Sonic 59 then Super Special: #5 Sonic Kids
Sonic 60 then Super Special: #7 Exiles crossover, Sonic and Tails visit back to Mobotropolis and then that whackyness happens. Props to True Red for that info.
Sonic 61 64 then hurry to Knuckles #19 and onward if you havent gotten there yet, because the storyline crossover gets important later on in the Sonic comics.
Sonic 65 68 then Super Special: #8 I think its called Giant Special, not sure though
Sonic 69 71 then make sure you finish up to Knuckles # 28, then read Super Special: #12, which is in between Sonic # 71 and 72 and Knuckles # 28 and 29.
Sonic 72 75 then Super Special: #10 Chaos crossover
Sonic 76 77 then Super Special: #11 Girls Rule
Sonic 78 then make sure you are finished the Knuckles series, because he goes back to the regular comic with back stories instead of a whole comic, now he only has 8 pages. Grrrr, that sucks.
Sonic 79 then Super Special: #9 Sonic Kids Are Back
Sonic 80 82 then Super special: #13 Sonic Adventure, but make sure, somehow to play the game, get a gamecube if you dont have one and buy the game.
Sonic 83 87 then Super Special:#14 Sally M.C. Acorn and the Best Of Times
Sonic 88 93 then Super Special:#15 Naugus Games
Sonic 94 98 then play Sonic Adventure 2, it has Shadow, hes cool.
Sonic 99 and onward.
I left out a few things, cause I felt that the didn't need to be there. If anyone has any revisions that they feel should be done, like adding something or changing it, tell me and I will change it.
Since you attempted to place all the specials, you earn a cookie. **gives a cookie**
I find your placement of SSS#12 to be interesting in terms of the Knuckles series. I've always been a bit torn in terms of placing it. I'll read it again and see if I adjust it. Currently I have it placed between Knuckles #25 & #26 as part of the "official" placement based on the editorial, but I've never really liked it there.
Quote:
Sonic 65 68 then Super Special: #7 Exiles
The problem with that placement is Sonic & Tails are supposed to be "away" when SSS#7 occurs and on a temporary visit. By the end of Sonic #68, Sonic & Tails are back home to stay. SSS#7 belongs at some point after Sonic #58 but before Sonic #64.
Also, SSS#9 moreso than any other special technically goes before every issue just due to the fact that all the events within it occur when the main cast is very young.
As regards SSS#12, at the end it says its between 28 and 29, not 25 and 26. You must have forgotten.
I see where you are talking about with SSS#7, sorry about that, I never fully reread the issue, so didn't realise. I put it just after 60 now, hows that?
As for SSS#9 I revised that myself now, and changed it to after Sonic #79, because of the tales from the great war back story ends then, all events afterward, like one of the stories in sonic kids are back, happens after the stories told in the tales from the great war. It makes it a little easier to piece together what happend before robotnik took over, but still has his plotting as a past event, instead of happening as you read it, which would happen if one was to read it before all other issues. Thats my reasoning behind why I kept it in a certain place. I hope I didn't confuse anyone again.
Nah, it's cool. Just getting my 2 cents in. Besides, not a lot of people do the whole continuity thing. ^^
