Before I start, yes I know that this topic seems a little late, but I'm a newbie, and this is one of many special reasons why I joined this website....Hopefully there are still many comic fans here who remember the storyline that I'm about to point out:
I've read many rumors saying "the only reason the Archie creators chose to have Sonic+Sally in the comics is because that's what fans wanted."
Whether these rumors are true or not, I want to know something for sure:
When it comes to story and character-arc, WHY was Sonic+Sally the wiser choice? Remember the issue where Sally is kidnapped by Fang, and then after Sonic rescues her, they kiss, which Mina notices. Think about that issue for a moment. How did the pairing contribute to Sonic's character development? How did it contribute to whatever themes/moral-messages that the storyline was trying to send? What exactly made it the right choice for the story?
Don't get me wrong, I'm not starting this topic because I hate the pairing. I'm just curious about this particular subject, and I want to see if it can be discussed in-depth.....Pretend that some director was making a movie adaptation on the Archie comics, and you wanted the movie to give EXACTLY what the story/theme was aiming for. Having that in mind should help you understand the discussion.
Belongs more in Knothole than MFC, however:
Topics discussing romantic relationships are not permitted in the Knothole Village forum.
I dunno if the above rule applies to this situation.
Yes, it seems that the no relationship rule does apply in this case. I noticed a monrator locked an itentical post/thread.
Zonicvoom, your previous thread on the exact same subject was locked with a very clear explanation as to why. Please do not try to break that rule again, as this will result in a warning.
