In my own opinion, it's has been quite a while since they've had one of those (sth #16, 43, 51, 52). I really do hope they consider sometime doing another one of those stories, particularly something close to sth #51. That issue was screwed up badly 'cause you didn't know who sent the medal. However a few years later, they said in a sonic-grams entry that it was Robo-Robotnik (Dr. Eggman).

Anyways, it would be nice not only for long time fans, but for new ones too. Anyone agree/disagree?

#51's Robo-Robotnik reveal was an afterthought.

The original culprit was supposed to be a robot Sally, who'd infiltrated Knothole after the real Sally really did die in #47. The plot was changed inbetween the two issues, thanks to Sega stepping in and asking for Sally to survive. Archie had to think of an alternative character to plan the medal, and only resolved the plothole when RR came along years later.

I wonder how thing would have went if Sally really did die, it kinda makes you wonder. You think her death might have caused the comic to be cancelled or would have hampered readers from sticking with the comic?

The original plan was that the fake Sally was going to be convincing the FFs that it was the real thing for about 12 months, with only Tails being suspicious. During that time, it'd be causing trouble and driving wedges between the FFs.

When it was eventually revealed that the real Sally died during Endgame, Sonic and Tails would've become much more like the unit they are in the games and the FFs would've ultimately been broken apart to the point where they disbanded. The plan was to create a soft reboot of the comic, making the continuity more like the games.

And I still think that doing that would've saved a lot of fan divisions down the line - better one big disagreement than lots of little niggles.

Sorry to change the topic, but exactly how are sales & subscriptions doing these day? You think the sales will fall low enough for the series to be cancelled & if so, how much longer do you think there is before Archie decides to end it?

I don't know exact numbers and don't quote me on this, but I seem to remember hearing that Sonic is Archie's best-selling book. Obviously it's nowhere near the juggernaughts that are Marvel or DC or Dark Horse (to an extent), but it's not doing too bad for itself considering it's based on a kids video game.

To make a point of comparison, a series with low sales wouldn't likely be granted the funds and effort to put out extra material like the archives/selects, Free Comic Book Day issues, the (eventual) Encyclopedia and a whole secondary sister series. Remember, writers, artists, etc. generally get paid per page, so that's nothing to sneeze at in terms of production.

On one hand, comic book sales in general (as in the medium itself) have been falling somewhat in general the last few years (since a lot of people just illegally read scans online now), but really - not only has its run lasted long enough for Guinness, it's a top seller for the company, and good promotion for Sega - you generally don't cancel something when it's making you a profit.
