This may throw up an immediate red flag. Mods, please know that I'm not trying to stir up trouble, I want none as a result. As mentioned in my first topic, I'm brand new in these parts, but a long time fan of the Archie comics. When I found out about the relationship embargo, I was surprised and confused. Alot of the members that were there when it went in place seem bitter about it still. I'm curious, what on earth led to such an embargo? Did debating who rightfully held Sonic's heart become that incredibly heated?
I don't understand why argument would arise out of such a situation simply because I'm so out of touch with the comics. I see Sally as the perfect fit, because when I left off in the comics, she was the only one! So, here's my question to all of you. Mina seems to be the character that threw the wrench in the gears. Do you feel that her character was developed well, to the point of being a very "likeable" character, even in replacing Sally at the side of Sonic? I've been asking for tips on how to catch back up in the series, like specific comics that I should look into buying. I'm aware that all of this romance confusion began right around #100. Any suggestions on certain comics I should pick up to understand the backstory of these two conflicting romances, or is it not worth it?
I only own one issue with Mina in it, and that happened to be the issue she took Nack's shot to save Sally. That's the extent of the understanding I have of her.
I guess one good thing about the embargo is at least the Archie comics have developed characters well enough that we are concerned for them! If the characters were hollow and not developed, then we wouldn't waste a minute of our time debating the relationships.
Suffice it to say that the relationship embargo is in place for a reason. If you want to discuss the rule, then EVC is the place to do it.
Could a mod move this topic to EVC?
Without going into unnecessary details, yes, it got heated. It "took over" the forum as it came up in basically every topic because anything that could be would be twisted to make it apply. That (among other issues) got people upset and the ban was put in place. It was lifted for awhile, but the "problems" returned so the ban ended up being re-instituted. It covers everyone, not just Sonic as that wasn't the only problem--just the most obvious and blatant one.
No Dirk, I have no want to discuss the rule. I have no place to challenge or question it. That was never my intention. I just didn't understand why things must have gotten so bad that they placed a ban. I was only looking for background information, and I got that. Thanks for the clarification.
I'll just say "you're welcome" on TR's behalf (I doubt she'll mind) and lock this, then, since its purpose has been fulfilled.
