Cream fans rejoice! I must admit I really want to see how ArchieCream will work out.
Edit: The solicit for STH #219 is up now, and don't let the solicit for the backup fool you, the Sonic Colors story will be in it instead of the Lien-da story. Ian has no clue where or when the Lien-da story's been bumped to but it will come up soon.
Every page Cream is on will sparkle and the background will be filled with happy puppies, hearts and the sweetest of candies.
CREAMY DREAMY!!!!! Honestly I was hoping she would stay out of the comics seeing as her role in the games is to just stare in awe at all of Eggman's mean robots, and have her chao beat up the bad guys. I just don't know what to think about Treasure Team Tango. It looks like a terrible idea, but I have been wrong about guessing the quality of these comics. I remeber once stating that The Good, The Bad, and The Unknown was going to be "excellent" and "a return to the comic's former greatness!" So don't trust my opinion!
I'm having flashbacks of Rebecca Handler whenever I think of Cream (Oh The Horror) ;__;
But hey, Geoffry St. John IS BACK!
... yay!
Well, guess Archie wasn't bluffing about continuing with production as usual; with the whole Penders thing going on, to blatantly use one of his characters on the cover is a bold move.
Or maybe not so bold, since it's been shown that Penders never really copyrighted most of his characters to begin with. Ah well.
Or more likely this was planned before Ken Penders threw his latest attention tantrum. Not that I am enthusiastic about it. IMO the comic would be better off referencing his non-echidna ideas as little as possible. That said, the cover is quite good, and they should use Jamal Peppers more because he's one of their few artists who, like Yardley, can handle Sonic style without hints of slipping into more traditional comic art techniques. See how much better Hathor is in Yardley's cover vs. the way Steven Butler did the cat people, where she is like a whole other character.
SU's cover suggests that it will be a 'team them up because they're girls!' story, which sounds like a terrible idea, but we will see how it actually works.
What Vec said on the Penders point, Terg.
How long do you think it takes to get a storyline into print? Things're planned out months, even years in advance (you just have to look at Karl Bollers' plans from before he left to see that) - you have to get approval from Sega, you have to write and draw it, and even if you're pulling something out of your slush pile, you have to get the solicits out months before...
Even if I thought that Archie would be as unprofessional and spiteful as Penders - which I don't - it's just not logistically possible.
For me, the fact this is coming out now should be conclusive proof that the narrative is nothing to do with Penders. Although I have no doubt that he'll try and see it that way, in just the same way that he seems to think that any third party whoever created a family or past for Knux is ripping him off.
I guess you're right; I didn't really think about it in terms of what producing a comic would entail in terms of planning.
Blaze sure looks excited about this treasure team stuff. She missed out on Sonic Heroes; this'll be her chance to catch up on things!
Sonic Universe 9?!? Did I miss a relaunch?
*facepalm* Aww, crap, I don't know how I missed that.
Also, here's what Ian said about the new SU arc:
Given the cover and how the story starts off, the next SU arc is kinda "Girl Power"-y.
And then it turns into "let Ian have as much fun as humanly possible and then some in a story arc."
While I always enjoying this job, I haven't had this much fun on a story arc since "El Gran Gordo." You guys are in for a treat.
As fun as El Gran Gordo eh? Well I guess only time can tell. I still don't believe it though.

The issue with Amy, Cream, and Blaze sounds intriguing enough to pick up, but I wonder what Ian means by "girl power-y". I'm very iffy on such a term because a lot of writers actually handle the subject of said "girl powers" poorly. Sonic's reaction really doesn't help. Guess I'll wait and see.

To be fair, this is Sonic!

How is the idea of "gurl powar" usually handled?
Badly, because the whole idea leads to situations contrived to emphasize that girls can have power, which unintentionally implies that girls having power is unexpected or requires a contrived situation. They also usually include some stereotypes and heavy-handed gender symbols, providing them positive implications, but also perpetuating them.
Done properly, the phrase girl power is rarely used for it, because it doesn't act as if feminism should be unusual.
Seeing Cream on that cover almost makes me want to actually read the comics again. Almost.
In all seriousness, I'm curious to see how her character is handled in the Archie Sonicverse. I'd decided to stay away from the comics because of the Loads and Loads of Characters, but even the games are starting to become just as character overloaded.

What Veckums said. I'm not saying "girl power" is a bad thing, but so many writers have a trouble time handling it. The majority of said "girl power" - and this is ridiculously common in children's fiction - is that the female leads often have to prove their worth to their male counterparts in order to be taken seriously. There's certain things one gender can do over the other, but usually said "girl powers" happens to come up during situations where BOTH genders can equally handle said task with no complication. Like say, both of them are excellent fighters, but for some reason the boy thinks his gal pal counterpart is weak and shouldn't or couldn't fight because she's a girl. The girl then proceeds to prove her worth and kick the boy's butt in order to get him to change his mind. The fact that a girl has to prove themselves to stop the boy's "pig-headed" view (sometimes the boy acts completely out of character so they can shove this moral lesson) is a tiring and frankly, insulting stereotype.
I don't know what Ian has planned, so I can't judge, but I'm pretty hesitant at the moment.

I'm glad Cream will get her first appearance in the Sonic the Hedgehog comics. On the other hand, I'd hate to what Lien-Da's new form looks like.

She'll ditch the leather for something a little more refined...
Noting but the best for Lien-Da.
o.O Sorry, but uhh.....Is there a Ish 218 preview? I just got my Bunny vs Sonic Ish and realized I had no idea what cover was next?
Pretty sure the peeps who've been handling those kinds of things in this forum have jumped ship and settled in at Bumbleking.
Not that I don't blame 'em.
Well, I still consider the MoFo my home, but I haven't really felt like posting the previews; perhaps, it's because it seems like so few comment on them that it feels like a waste of time to post them. However, I'll go ahead an put the preview pages for SU #21 shortly if you want.
I still read them, don't post on them much since I've lost my interest with the comics as of late.
Alrighty then, preview pages up!
