I'd like some opinions as to how the Archie comic would have turned out had the SatAM not been cancelled. Suppose the SatAM had finished out its run? Remember, Ken Penders has stated more than once that when the show was first cancelled, everyone expected the book to share that fate as well. I'm asking for unbiased opinions of course.

I feel that had the show not been cancelled, "EndGame" would never have happened and there wouldn't be a "World Tour" story. You have to take into account that the "EndGame" saga had originally been written with the book's possible cancellation in mind.

Opinions are, by definition, biased.

In any case, I think that if the show had not been cancelled after season two, it probably would have soon after, as Sonic's popularity did in fact begin to hit a drop.

If that were the case, the death of Robotnik would never have happened. Archie would be tied to the SatAM continuity as it once was. The Archie continuity would probably never develop the out-of-control explosion of jumbled characters and plots. Knuckles would be introduced, I'm guessing, but not the Penders version. Knuckles would be modeled after his SatAM self (and we don't know what that is, exactly).

Other than that, I really don't know.

i agree with dirk on the most part, Satam would've been cancelled soon after. but personally i don't see how that would effect the comic. i'm sure Endgame would've happened eventually. give or take a few issues.

Oh, and since Shendu posted moments before me...

That's half right. When SatAM was cancelled, Ken and Justin feared that the book would be cancelled soon after.

Because the book was supposed to be cancelled, they decided to plan a big finale where Robotnik died in issue 50. Then, they were surprised to find that the book's sales actually went up, so they developed ideas for the post-Endgame continuity.

I can't escape the conviction that the comic would have followed more or less the same trajectory if the series had lasted another season or two. Which means that we STILL would have been subjected to "Endgame."

I think the comic would have kept an Sat a.m. feel to it for as long as the cartoon lasted. We probably would have still gotten Endgame, though at a later time. Sad to say, I think it would have been better if the comic got discontiued soon after the cartoon was. Often, I don't enjoy the comic book anymore, and worry about what Archie is going to do to the characters I love.

SatAM's cancellation is why I started reading the comic in the first place, to sort of find out "what happens next".

If the show had not been cancelled I think the comic would have followed post-Endgame with Ixis returning as a villain and Snively joining the freedom fighters like the rumored season 3 said. These things have both happened in the comic since then, but would probably have been sooner with SatAM still running.

I think the comics would've followed the SATAM series' continuity for a while longer. Int the end they would eventually break free, and head into a different direction which is what they were doing alot before. It just wouldn't be in such a mess as it is now!
