He's gone forever.

His atoms are scattered forever of something like that I believe. He was originally going to be Anonymous (under Pender's time as writer), but Ian made Anonymous ADAM.

^ Really? I thought it was supposed to be that Ivan Kintobor dude.

Robotnik and Eggman are essentially the same character aside from design, which are still pretty similar. They provide the same function to the story. I really don't see what difference it would make.

I thought that I read somewhere that Anonymous was going to be Ivo Robotnik, but I could be wrong. I could see Penders going that route too.

To be honest, Lea is right. They are basically the same person. I prefer the current design of Eggman anyway.

I was always partial to the SatAM/Archie design of Robotnik, before they capped him.

You mean the one that can actually beat Sonic in a foot race?

Blubberbuns? God no.

Haven't we suffered enough from the likes of LNR?

If there's one thing I have learned from reading comics all of my life, it's that when a character has a decent death scene (I am under the impression that Robotnik died in #50?) the fans will constantly want them back, mostly because they had such a memorable and well executed death that it usually heightens people's awareness of their potential and character. (Example: Captain Marvel, mediocre powerplaying character who's best issue was his death. It was an amazing story, the character and his supporting cast were emotional, but bringing him back? STUPID IDEA)

And because comics and comics, they come back and... hey, they're just another character who (thanks to the void left by their death) likely has been replaced. Not to say that this is always a bad thing, when Doc Ock was (in the most stupid way possible) brought back from the dead, I doubt a single soul complained that Carolyn Trainer was shoved out of the comics.

Yet, this is less of a "poor man's Robotnik" situation. There's no reason to bring him back, what good would it serve. To use Spidey again, it would be like the drag we had when both Green Goblin and Hobgoblin were active, there's no need for both, they're more or less the same damned guy. So they killed HarryGoblin/shoved Roderick to an island until May Parker was of age.

Point is, this happens all of the time all over the place and perhaps excluding a few choice situations, it's rarely a good thing.

But, hey. Sonic and Superheroes don't mix, so maybe I'm wrong. Who knows.

Yeah that's probably the only design flaw to Sonic 2 that comes to mind.

Not just Sonic 2. He also beat Sonic to the Death Egg boss in S&K.

Hah. I never played that game. I think that's a major design flaw. Why would they have Robotnik run as fast as sonic!?!?

I think that would be wrong to bring the original Robotnik back to the comic. He's dead. Gone like he never existed in the first place.

He's kicked to the curb like an old filthy street dog with an uncurable disese.
Although I do wish "Eggman" would inherit some of his sinisterness.

You mean enslaving the world; using robots to brutalize people and keep them in line; making sure people who volunteer to work with you have no choice but to be your slaves; draining people's minds, souls, and energy; roboticizing people for a short time; and blowing up cities that oppose you isn't sinister?

Yeah, pre-50 Robotnik was very sinister. [/sarcasm]

He was forced to take the Freedom Fighter oath, for goodness sake.

... Aw geez. I was thinking of the wrong Robotnik. The one from SatAM. My bad. Scratch what I said.

That Robotnik was a boring, cliche, run of the mill Saturday morning cartoon villain.

yyyyyyyyeeeeeeeeeeesssssssssss. I posted a topic like this in an earlier post somewhat back. though i do like this current version, there seemed to be more of a tense conflict between the original robotnik and sonic. I mean, during engame, sonic really got aggressive towards him and basically killed him off in issue #50.

Then in ish #74, when the freedom fighters (esp sonic) thought robotnik rose from the grave in the satallites, sonic was way too angry and agressive to him until it was revealed that it was robo-robotnik. after that, it seemed that sonic was less irratated with robo. I dunno, to me he should be ressurected once again. I mean, they could if they wanted to. Make up some story to bring him back in. Hey, they did that with tommy turtle (i know you all despise him).

Except that it was actually Snively who killed him as he tampered with the Doomsday machine. I don't know, Sonic seemed pretty ticked off in #175 to me. I don't know where you got the whole Sonic isn't angry at Robo/Eggman thing. Both Robotnik and Eggman are basically the same person. As I reall, Sonic was still pretty ticked at him, even when he found out who Robo-Robotnik really was. As well, I didn't find Sonic's conflict with Robotnik to get really tense until Endgame. Maybe I'm forgetting something, but I don't really think that I am.

Also, that's exactly why people hate Tommy Turtle. The emotional sacrifice that he made in a pretty good single issue story was completely done away with in a terrible three parter. To top it off, he never really did anything, and always just seemed to be there.

touche, Bsonic10. You're right. I don't know, I guess i'm making too much of an effort to bring back the original Dr. R. He was in only in 50 issues (well, technically #51, 74 and 108, but who's counting?)
