Dr. Quack hinted that exposure to power rings has made Sonic more resilant than most other mobians. Makes me wonder if Sonic has gained an enhanced healing factor over the years.
Isn't this a spoiler?
If it is, it's over a year old, so I don't think it would matter at this point...
I also wonder if Sonic, because of his exposure to power rings, has developed the ablity to heal others(at least at certain times). It would explain a little better why Sonic seemingly healed Sally in "Endgame."
Maybe his power ring thing had something to do with him healing his father back in that god-awful Tommy Turtle arc.
Doctor Quack said that the reason why she'd been left alone with her death faked in the first place was to heal and recover. I think that that was meant to be exceedingly corny "romance" rather than any sort of special trick of Sonic's.
Although it wouldn't surprise me these days if someone (although I wouldn't expect it from Ian) attempted to retcon it at some point.
Since I didn't read, or have much of a reference form Sonic # 50/SS# 6 except the fact that Sonic vs. Robo = robo no more, I was pretty sure that Sally was in a coma. That would explain much.
Having checked the relevant back issue: yes, she was. 🙂
Stranger things've happened to bring people out of comas without any magical healing factor, though - from tapes of friends and colleagues to someone accidentally playing the theme of the patient's favourite soap opera on the room's TV once.
The patient promptly woke up and asked how many episodes they'd missed.
Isn't this like a reaaally old secret? I thought the extended exposure to power rings was the reason Sonic survived the Mecha Madness situation.
I thought Sonic's only powers was translator chip and his superspeed. I don't remember anythng about power ring healing.
Hiro is 100% totally right. From Mecha Madness:
Sorry it's kinda wrinkly. Old issue from before I took good care of my comics. ^^;
And she goes on to say how the rings created an "internal shield" preserving Sonic's "life force". Rote & Sally hook NICOLE up to Mecha Sonic, blab some about pseudo-science and hey presto! Sonic is no longer robotic.
They didn't bring it up much after that issue, but it's a nice bit of continuity and an easy out for Ian (had he not mentioned it, I'm sure someone would ask "how Sonic heal so quickly?" Fans are nitpicky like that).
I love how there's only been five months since it was released and they're already calling #35 a classic =p
Totally OT:
THAT..IS..Still one of the best drawings of Sonic ever !
Just the masterful grip he HAS on that ring, it just screams POWER!! And his other hand, such poise! So quick to react to anything,-but at the same time serve as balance!
GAWD, where are issues like that now? -.- Let's go Ian. Bring back quality..well you already are, I'm just being goofy xD.
You forget to mention how BEAUTIFULLY miscolored his arm is.
When was the last time sonic used a power ring anyway.
OT: What do you mean by "miscolored", Toby?
Left arm's blue.
OT: I thought it had to do with Sally. Toby loves to annoy fans of Sally.
Sally's miscolored too. Why is'nt she black and pink? D:
The effects of the chemical vat accident wore off.
lulz
They need to recolor Sally-she's all chipmunk brown sexy in that pic. That's gotta go. Bring back the hideous pink and black clash.
and LOL @ Toby. Yeah I noticed that, cracks me up every time they do it.
ah... the days when Spaz penciled entire issues of Sonic... Like the smell of fresh lemon you see
