Greetings,

My name is John, I haven't been in touch with the Sonic community for quite a few years since I'm far more acquainted with what one would call the 'old' games, comics and cartoons. In fact, I am actually driven to do this post due to an old, unresolved story that seems to affect my more recent interests.

Some years ago, Ken Penders held an 'art contest' (which involved contenders drawing a page of script) on his message board. I submitted an entry, but never got a reply. At first I credited it to a talent problem, but could never be sure if my mail was ever received.

A week ago, while reassembling my portfolio, I ran into that page again ( www.geocities.com/jszasz/js-test.jpg ) and the old doubt flowed back into my mind. I wanted to ask Mr. Penders if he recalled receiving it at all - even today, it would mean a great deal -, but my e-mail to 'kenpenders@kenpenders.com' got an auto-reply message from the mail server stating it couldn't deliver the message. I tried a different server, but to no avail. Then I tried his own board, and alas, it bans my message on the spot.

Since I'm not on the U.S. and Mr. Penders' board seems to be a constant target for hacking (which probably resorts to foreign servers), I have no means of contacting him directly. So I've wondered if anyone from the HQ's forum could help me do it indirectly, by forwarding this message to his forum or e-mail - I would greatly appreciate it.

On to another subject, SonicverseTeam comics' site has suddenly vanished and I couldn't find news related to that anywhere. Does anyone have a clue as to what happened?

Many thanks and regards,

John

I can at least answer the SVT question. Long story short, the domain expired. It is being worked on. :)

When I first saw this title I excitedly expected to see a glorious "Where's Wally" style image filled with talented writers, and you had to spot the Penders in it.

I am thoroughly disappointed.

Well, when I first saw I had a new response I expected you could actually help me out, so that should level us in regards to disappointment. =1

Since you didn't name Wally 'Waldo' I'd guess you're not in the U.S. either, and I don't think it's really possible to fill an entire page with talented writers in 'Where's Wally' style, but that's just me.

Seriously though, as a questionable substitute, I invite you to spot the obvious error about the comic page I pointed to in my first post.

It is if you use every writer on the planet who's ever lived. Or just use the same one. And no, I live in Australia. Though I have my eyes on Seattle.

Well, I had a gander and I couldn't spot the flaw. I did however recognise your art test. Toby showed it to me a few days ago and I remember commenting on how good it was.

Personally, I wouldn't bother about Penders, man of False Promises and lack of interest in his fans. Unless of course you're pampering to his wondrous ego.

And dissapointment is my game, me laddo.

Well I'm not fond of the man myself either, but I love Sonic to pieces. Back in the contest days I was _really_ disappointed I couldn't get a reply, to work on a Sonic comic was _the_ only thing I could want in the world. I was partly inconsiderate about whether others didn't get a response, or why.

Today I'm merely indulging myself in the possibility I could blame the e-mail instead of myself or Ken (specially after the server clue), I'm just giving it a shot; but your thoughts reveal to me lots of people might label Penders as 'inconsiderate', that's somewhat a relief and a pity.

Guess I shouldn't bother 'bout that any further indeed, to hear you thought the page was good (the 'obvious error' is that it seemingly never entered the contest it was meant for =P) probably rewards my effort better than Ken would.

When I checked your page it had precisely 666 deviations, which was intriguing. Between neat Sally and 3D renditions, I liked best the humorous sketches, very great. Specially the Yuji Naka one.
