Depends on your definition of the word beautiful.

That's not from SatAM, it's from the live Sonic show from (the now closed) Sega World in Sydney. It kinda makes the Sonic R songs look like musically inspired genius, by comparison. I've got an MP3 of the show, and I remember seeing it about ten years ago, but to be honest no one is really missing anything by not hearing it.

Uh, not that hard to visualise. People in Sonic and Tails and Sally and Robotnik suits. And I don't have to admit anything, none of the songs from the show have any interest to me beyond my ten year-old self being excited about Sonic singing. To be honest the only really interesting part of the show was that it featured slightly remixed game music.

Is it legal to link to the Sonic World? I always thought it was OK to know of places w/ downloads but to not to expressly mention it here. Maybe I read it wrong, that was just my understanding of a rule.

well, the song made me eeeek a little. At first I started singing "Super Sonic Racing" from Sonic R, which then reminded me of Sailor Moon R and lastly I can compare the song to "Misty's Song" from Pokemon. Misty is trying to decide how to tell Ash her feelings. :razz

The line that says "from the first time we came together our love was true" or something along that, makes no sense. Did she mean when they were 5 years old or younger? Was the live Sidney version related to SatAM or not?

Nope. It was pretty much AoStH, but with Sally and no Scratch/Grounder.

Quote:

Sonic Live In Sydney
A 1 hour live childrens show hosted at the park, Sonic Live In Sydney, was set in an alternate timeline based around the Saturday morning Sonic animated series and the Sonic 3 Mega Drive video game. Doctor Robotnik's Death Egg crash-lands in Australia instead of Angel Island, causing the scientist to attempt a takeover of Sydney, which is foiled by Sonic, Tails, and Sally Acorn at the end of the show. A subplot of this show involved Tails being shown around Sydney's landmarks. There was a large amount of audience interaction in the show.

Most of the music for the show was taken from Masato Nakamura's score on Sonic The Hedgehog 2, with three theme pieces; Sonic's That's the Score, Robotnik's Give Me Chaos and one sung by Sally Acorn. A recording without audience was made of the performance.

That was quoted from Wikipedia. Here's my question, does anybody know the year this Sonic Live show came out?

I saw it in January 1998 and Sega World has been open for about a year before that, so probably in the first half of 1997. I imagine all the Sonic-related stuff would have been the earliest opening attractions.

They sure wouldn't pull anything like that today, especially since Sonic Team no longer acknowledges any continuity outside of the SA/Sonic X continuity.

After listening to this, you say it as if it's a bad thing.

Here's the full thing, if anyone's willing to make their ears bleed. Got it when I posted the OP's link over at The GHZ.

Honestly, I haven't listened to any of this stuff, and I'm almost afraid to. It'd be like listening to Sonic's voice in Sonic Schoolhouse for the first time all over again, but now with songs.

Well, I decided to take the risk and listen to this, and surprisingly, they're not that bad. Here're my thoughts.

What Are We Waiting For - Sonic's theme: Very hip hop sounding, and the lyrics really fit Sonic. The tune sounds very familiar, but I can't seem to place it. I did get somewhat worried when I heard the line: "I lift my tail and hold it in the air." Yep, that's an actual line in the song. Aside from that, it wasn't that bad.

Thank You for Being You - Sally's theme: Surprisingly, I liked this one. It has a very "You're My Hero" vibe to it, and the music sounds like "A Dream Worth Keeping" from Ferngully. It's much more pretty than I thought it'd be. I actually liked it so much I saved it. If you like songs in the vein of "You're My Hero" and "Misty's Song," you'll probably like this one.

Give Me Chaos - Robotnik's Theme: Another one I personally liked. It has a very catchy tune, and I found myself tapping to the rhythm. Robotnik sounds something like a fusion of Scar from "The Lion King" and Shere Khan from "The Jungle Book," at least in my opinion.

Yeah, they're pretty cheesy in some places, but I was pleasantly surprised by them. Of course I tend to like things that the majority of people don't like, so take that as you will.
