I was just going over the collection of Sonic stories I have had over the years when it has occured to me that their exists a number of instances where heroes in the book have tried to do away with the Blue Blur. By themselves I didn't think of them too much but when I put them together they almost seem jarring to me.
Knuckles: This is the first example of this in issue thirteen where he was first introduced inside the comic Knuckles actually threatens to kill Sonic and Tails if they do not leave the Island.(please not I do not have the issue myself but read a review from a trustworthy source where this was stated)Now one could assume it was an empty threat except later he tries to make good on it. The next time he appears in the Sonic and Knuckles special he actually attempts to kill Sonic by making him fall to his death. The way he just steps on Sonic's hands as he is hanging on to that ledge is unbelievable. Ouch are we sure Knuckles wasn't supposed to be an anti-hero back then.
Sally: Perhaps the most suprising on the list on one occasion this long time love interest tried to do her main squeeze in. In issue number 27 while Sonic is inside the tunnels to Knothole she orders them flooded despite the well known fact that Sonic can't swim. Even if he could he woulf still be in trouble. Of course to be fair at the time Sonic was exhibiting strange behaviour due to his amnesia had a mounted wrist laser and no one quite knew what was going on but still..........
Antoine: As hard as it might be to believe the character who for the longest time seemed like he should faint at the sight of blood also took a stab or should I say swipe at cutting his friends life short. In issue 28 after the last issue menitoned after a team of rookie freedom fighters he was leading get's taken out Ant comes at Sonic with his sword. (By the way this was actually one of the cooler Antoine moments in the early days of the book in my opinion) Now this is actually debatable as you actually can use a sword on someone without killing them but still had he connected it wouldn't have been pretty.
St. John: Another addition to the list is the rouge of a skunk who previously had his eyes on Sally and was one of Sonic's oldest rivals. It's no secret the two didn't get along but the striped one seemed to want him out of the way permanently. In issue 46 the guy actually binds Sonic to a tree and attempts to run an arrow through him, actually stating his intention to kill Sonic. He is only stopped by a massive blow to the jaw from Antoine(one of the other cooler moments the guy had in the early comics I might add)
What does everyone have to say about these incidents. I for one am suprised these events were written, especially since this is an Archie backed comic.
Wow. I beem reading Sonic for about 3 or 4 years or so (God i feel old) And I never heard about these 'people anbushing Sonic and trying to kill him' storyes before. And I whould whould NEVER fall in love with some one who tryed to drown me. Who knew Sonic knew a bunch of people who wanted to kill him? Not me!
A little perspective. Sally was trying to stop Sonic from getting into Knothole because he was carrying a transmitter that would've led Robotnik right to the villiage. And Sonic had also been brainwashed by Robotnik to attack any Freedom Fighter he came across. Which he did without mercy.
When he came to his senses, Sally, having been punched into a computer terminal in the war room by him, didn't even ask him to apologize. She even supported him without argument when he tried to make amends by foiling the rest Robotnik's plan. Heck, even Tails was upset about being thrown around. Sally just took it in stride, directing her efforts towards the real threat.
Do these sound like the actions of someone who wanted to kill Sonic?

I never said she wanted to kill Sonic, just that she tried to.
Plus she didn't know he was under Robotnik's control while he was in the tunnel only that he was acting strangely and had a device on him he may not have been aware he was carrying.
ooooh that STORY. I saw the cover and read the summery but not that Comic itself. I never read the old school comics, So i did'et know the full story about it. Thanks for clearing that up Shak. 
In the Issue where Verti-cal and Horizont-al return as vengeful robot beings Tails is forced to fight Sonic to the death. He's put under a spell and fights him with alot of vehemance but the two animal's friendship manages to overpower the brainwashing.
So you can add Tails to the list, too.
Looks to me like the conflicts break down into three groups: good guys gone bad, bad guys in disguise, and noobs who have to learn who's the hero of this comic book. I don't know where on this scale to put emo-Tails; he doesn't WANT to kill Sonic I don't think, but he does have that post-crush thing going.
It looks like Tails might be the next one. Just see what he does when he sees Sonic and Fiona together. There has to be rage in him some where.
