...or will we fans do it
Just been wondering if Ian might write a backup story in where we find out what Sally was really going though when She along with everyone thought Sonic was dead for a year, and how Dr. Quack got invloved in helping her.
Cause I think A story where Dr. Quack is talking with Sonic and Sonic explaining to him that he feels that there's still something there between him and Sally and that there's a fear he has that what happen in the pages of 134 might repeat itself all over again may start out Dr. Quck explaining to Sonic what happen over the year he was gone and how he helped Sally or at least tried to.
Just a thought.
I think the way Sally felt for that year was made pretty clear over the past forty or so issues, there's not really anything a story could tell us about it without being redundant. I really do doubt Ian's interested in revisiting it, especially considering Sally's actions in #177.
What Matt said. Sally's described her feelings enough times now - I don't think that we need a full flashback.
You know, reading Ken Pender's EARLY work, (Sonic Archives 1-3), I wonder what the heck happened to him and his writing. And wonder if the same curse will hit Ian.
I bring this up because the 'gone for a year' was kinda one of Ken's meathod to retcon a lot. SO I wonder if Ian will want to even cover that.
I just hope Ian doesn't suffer the same curse Ken did.
A flashback wouldn't be useful if we wanted to look at Sally's feelings. However, it would be interesting to see a number of other events unfold, including:
Knuckles struggling to adapt to the fact that he was powerless
Lien-Da's rise to the top in the Dark Legion
The full story of the Brotherhood's disappearance (probably covered in the Enerjak arc)
and
How other characters changed while Sonic was gone to get to be what they are now.
I agree with the suggestions Spectre the Hechidnat made, although I think Bunnie is the only one left well overdue for a backstory (I know of the plans that the writer who left recently had for her).
Her history should be explored, especially now she is married to Antoine (in sharing everything together, experiences and all).
Also Remington's life growing up without his father (Kragok) and him joining the police force could be interesting too.
These kinds of stories would be perfect for a Quarterly Super Sonic Special. Heck, the entire lost year could be fit into a year's worth of quartley specials.
in a year without sonic... 52. *shot*
Actually, Archie did have a bit of a plan to explore Bunnie's origins; it was part of prototype storyline they came up with for issues after #134, it's all at this address: [link= http://sonichq.mobiusforum.net/newsite/comics/kbsonicoverview.php newwindow]sonichq.mobiusforum.net/newsite/comics/kbsonicoverview.php[/link]. Apparently, she would have returned to her old home town and we would have found out that her original name was "Scarlett O'Hare", as well as what happened to her parents, and that she ran away from her problems as a kid and went home to confront her past.
Remington and Kragok's back story would make for a cool read, even if it was only for a small section of an issue. Pity that Archie doesn't do Super Specials anymore; that whole "In a Year Without Sonic" title sounds cool.
Those were Karl Bollers' original plans for the comic, not a prototype storyline. Karl left after #154, so it's now irrelevant to the comic.
