I've been debating on if I should pick up this series or not however I cannot make up my mind! I'd like to read some opinions on your likes and dislikes on the comic.
Depends on who you talk to.
Some people like Sonic X and others dislike it. I myself, love the series, it's much more lighthearted and wacky than Sonic the Hedgehog, and has a sense of fun.
One reason many people don't like it, and some even refuse to read it is because of Chris, or human B, or something like that, but really, the comic mainly focuses on what the anime did'nt. The Sonic vs. Eggman dynamic.
You may like it, you may not. If I were you, I'd pick up a few issues and check it out before you decide whether you'd like to continue buying it or not.
I enjoyed the series myself. Though it is a bit strange because I enjoyed the TV version of the series, but not the comic version. The TV version rocks though, because I'm a big fan of Tails. I'm of the old fashioned mindset that stuff has to follow the "continuum" of the Sonic Universe. I have always maintained the fact that Tails should be one of the, or the, pilot and intventor of the group (aside from Rotor of course) and frankly all the cartoons before Sonic X, while having Tails, he was gypped. The other cartoons while good overall portrayed him as a whiny little baby who was only a random extra in SATam save for once episode, and only a plot device to be captured in AOSTH. The comic was great cause yes they did start him out as a little kid who did practically nothing but he GREW INTO his abilities and became a pilot and inventor. Sonic X saved my mindset of the cartoons because of tails, because they actually portraid him as a pilot and inventor, which is as it should be. I would definatly watch this series, and thats my opinion on it.
It depends. If your a fan of the TV series then you'll like the comic series.
If you enjoyed the older Sonic comics, at least before they began to take themselves far too seriously (To be fair, I liked both but the old ones are still a good laugh) then you will like Sonic X. I think it's too silly at times but stacked up against the regular series, it's a nice diversion. And the cover art is a treat every time.
The Sonic X comics have never held my attention as well as the StH series. In general they're fairly good but the storytelling isn't as daring in terms of shakeups (which is understandable, but regrettable). I loved the cartoon, although I prefer watching it in the original Japanese with subtitles.
Sonic X is a light-hearted, and very comical take on the Sonic game universe. It has a lot less focus on Chris compared to the anime. Although there are many stories that focus on Sonic, the title may as well be "The misadventures of Eggman and his wacky robot pals". Eggman's insane plans to take over the world almost have a "Pinky and the Brain" feel to them.
Overall, it's a very fun book that I highly recommend picking up. Start with #25 and up.
Sweet...Okay you guys have convinced me enough that I should pick up some issues and see how I like it...I never watched the series though..So maybe that will put me at a disadvantage?
However, I do perfer the earlier Sonic comics to the lastest ones..They are silly and can be read without needing to have the whole series..So yea, if this series is somewhat like that then sweet..I will give it ago.
I just bought the series from #1 to current..I'm waiting for their arrival...Can't wait (^_^)
has shadow made an appearance in Sonic X yet? or have they not gotten to him (or they won't have him) but i have also been contemplating on whether or not i will get this series. liked the cartoon tho...
Shadow hasn't appeared yet, and if I recall what Joe Edkin (the original writer of the comic) said correctly, there's no plans to introduce him. I'd like to be proven wrong on this, though...
Ian has said the same thing on his board several times. Something to the effect of Shadow not fitting the tone that they're going for for the comic, he's "dead" at the point of continuity the comic is in until further notice anyway.
so i am guessing that sonic x is aimed more at a younger audience?? sounds like it by what i have heard about it, seems like a very light-hearted take on sonic
It is, not that that's a bad thing, but it's not everyone's cup of tea. For me, it's nice to have a serious series, and a funny series, to give some diversity.
