I have been a Archie Sonic fan since issue #0, and have collected every issue, spin off, and graphic novel ever published. That being said, I subscribed for the first time due to not having enough time to hunt down the new Sonic and Sonic X issues locally, and recently recieved my first official subscription issue, #178.

The reason I am posting to tell you this is that, in all my time collecting and reading, this is the first time since issue #50 that I am actually extremely excited and anxious to see what happens next. I am absolutely loving Ian's influence on the comic, and every issue seems to edge a bit more toward issues that matter to adults but are still appropriate for kids. Not only that, but this issue, for the first time in YEARS, has had significant and realistic character growth rather than a slapshod personality change for shock value or lazy plothole filler. If Ian sticks around (and doubly so if they bring dub back... letting him go was a mistake, regardless of the reason) and awareness of the comic increases, I can see the main title easily lasting antother 100 or more issues... although they should consider a switch to volume 2, number #1 after issue #200, just to keep things fresh and open the door for new readers. Also, for the love of GOD, please bring back the mini-series events and Super Specials! I realize that they weren't profitable after a while, but that's only because the Specials started to suck and be insignificant, not because nobody wanted them! I guarantee you, if there was a new "Super Sonic Vs. Hyper Knuckles" or "Mecha Madness" caliber Spaz-illustrated special, it would sell BIGTIME. Same goes with an Amy Rose or Dr. Robotnik Mini-series, or even a quarterly "Knuckles" Issue. Sonic X is alright, but not nearly as entertaining as the main storyline.

I don't really think that many people in the upper food chain of Archie comics really give a flat wet crap what fans want as long as profits are up and Sega is satisfied, but hopefully someday we can see the comic move towards what made it so great and fun to collect in the first place, only with the talent and love that we are seeing now from Ian, Tracy, Spaz (who needs to be given another full issue to illustrate in the WORST way), and all the other awesome people who help make this my favorite comic. When that happens, profits will follow.

And really dub, if your out there, bring back to us... bring back to us...

I'm very thankful that there are people from the fandom working on the comic now. It makes me feel a lot better about the future of the comic.

Tails may be the chosen one, but Sonic has more experience with his powers. Sonic is a lot faster than Tails and whatever speed Tails has is limited to his two tails. So for Tails to have a chance against Sonic, he has to rely on his mind instead of his powers which he has yet to fully tap into.

As long as it is a sane fan and not some obssesive fan who does bad grammer, horrible spelling, and capitalizes all the letters all the time just to get their point across, I'm fine. Then again, the only reason I came on to the comic was the fact that this was the same writer who did "Other-M", a fan comic that I could still remember reading a few years ago. ;) Nice story huh?

he kinda changed the capitalizing to bold letters. but other than that, you're right.

And it was as Kefka as this situation in New Mobotropolis is becoming.

Are you talking about Kefka the Dark One (exceedingly disturbing writer of exceedingly disturbing fanfics) or Franz Kafka, the surrealist who wrote the likes of The Trial?

Franz Kafka.

Just checking. 🙂

There would've been grounds for a Kefka comparison, too - albeit one so hopelessly over-exaggerated that I'd have refuted it on the spot. 😉

Feeling of being trapped, situation with no real right side, and friends turning on each other, just feels Kafka.

No, it feels Kafka.

Feeling Kefka involves BDSM, torture and Sonic forcibly doing things with/to Antoine down dark alleys that I really can't discuss around here.

...A very disturbing image popped into my head just now.

And it's probably not as bad as what was actually on the page.

For the record: I tripped over Kefka on a MSTing site - I don't go looking for that stuff as standard, and I could barely stomach what I read (before backing away before even finishing) even through MSTing.

I get the idea already that you have zero repsect for my opinions or ideas, cause otherwise you wouldn't be trying to tick me off by point out every typo I make rather than responding to the actual idea. But it still feels rather petty. Since this topic is supposed to be about #178 rather than such things.

This is a story from which there can be no clean solution, and any solution that is found, will leave it's scars. Like what happens to the mobians in the city who DO like the idea of a king? When the colonies separated from England I've heard, they had to vote unanimously. They also had the grace of the loyalists having somewhere to GO when they prefered to still be part of the old kingdom rather than the new country.

The good General is demanding this change takes place with only a 50% voice behind it. And the rest of the 50% have nowhere to go if they don't want to be part of this new government.

Kefka and Kafka refer to completely different things. She's not trying to annoy you, she's trying to help clarify what you mean. Frankly, it's hard to tell which you meant when you aren't consistant.

Thanks, CCL.

They're two different things - and close enough to make things confusing if someone sees one name rather than the other in a Sonic context.

Any of these guys'll tell you that I consciously back off from correcting posters' grammar and spelling - but I'm not going to apologise for correcting something that's incorrect.

I don't see how that means that I have no respect for your opinions. You've already said that you meant Kafka, not Kefka - so how am I not respecting your opinion when pointing out that you got the name wrong? Your actual opinion has nothing to do with that.

So just split the kingdom.

One part could be ruled by the monarchy, the other by the people.

A simple solution, and it would work, in theory. But a split down the middle Knotehole would become a disfunctional one as well. It would become like East and West Germany.

So make Knothole a neutral zone. Anyone who doesn't care for either leaderships can live there.

And when they'd break the wall between the two, Mina would be singing a song up on it? Only years later she would appear on MoTube eating food off the floor and in a drunken state.

Although, as for Knothole, even if residents did leave the safety of New Mobotropolis, the ruins of Knothole would still not be safe from the Eggman Empire.
