for The most underused character choices: Character had to appear in more than 1 story.
For most overused character: can't be Any of the original Freedom Fighters (Sonic,Sally,Tails,Bunnie,Rotor,or antoine), Knuckles,or Dr.Robotnik.
This topic is for personal choice but i'm eliminating the obvious choices.
My vote for most Overused would have to be Shadow, I just think that Penders used him too much but gave us too little on his history.
My vote for most Underused would have to be the chaotix. (except julie-su, she's had solo stories before.) but Vector,Mighty,Espio and charmy don't get alot of attention, They did however get a 3 issue mini series in Knuckles though. but that's still my choice
It's difficult to say which character is most overused. There are a lot of overused characters, because the comic often brings back characters that were meant to be one-shots, causing them to lose any charm they had. Examples: Monkey Kahn and Tommy Turtle. Even if a character is used only sparingly, that can still be too much.
With underuse, the writers have managed a fairly good balance with the SatAM Knothole crew, but some Sega fanfaves get the short end of the stick. Tails to some extent, and Amy as well, and the Chaotix. But the most underused character at the moment is Knuckles. He has barely appeared in the past year, which is sad because he's supposed to be so major. The main problem is that Knuckles, because of the nature of his character in the book, comes as a package deal with a huge cast that the book simply cannot accomadate.
I don't see a problem with it. You do need to rename the topic since you elinimated the poll options, though.
Saying shadow was overused is like saying if you take out the main three characters in my story's, I overuse the fourth one. Duuuuuh.
Your real argument is that you don't want Shadow to be the next main behind the ones you call "The original Freedom Fighters".
All opinions man. *shrug*
Most overused? Sonic. XP
Most underused? At the moment, poor Knux. Ever? Quite possibly the 'Back Up' Freedom Fighters. I can't think of anyone else.
So many characters have been underused, but I think the family members of the main cast (Freedom Fighters) have especially gotten the shaft. Consider-
Jules: the "Last Robian", fights FAKE! Tommy, death cheat, now sits in his hut reading the paper and arguing about whether or not he and Bernadette should talk to Sonic about feelings
Bernadette: De-roboticized, cooks breakfast and worries about Sonic.
Rosemary & Amadeus Prower: Mysteriously disappeared only to resurface on far-off planet. During they absence they became skilled watch-makers.
King Max: Shuffled off to the Void, encased in crystal, doppleganger (Endgame), inept decisions, wheelchair-bound, more inept decisions, and comatose.
Queen Alicia: recovered from her coma, mostly seen standing next to Max in silence. Occasionally dispenses some wisdom before returning to her role as Royal Eye-Candy.
Skeeter, Mama Walrus & The Walrus Herd: Hypnotized briefly, then left to rot on ice floes.
Sherman Walrus and Rotor's Older Brother: been MIA for years
Armand D'Coolette: a few random "evil henchman" appearances, brief father/son bonding scene, deroboticized only to get shipped to a military base, poisoned (presumably by Evil Twin! Patch), now he's either comatose or dead
Mrs. D'Coolette: never talked about
Mr. and Mrs. Rabbot: Ditto
But what's your vote on most Overused?
Most Underused = Dr. Finitevus. Hope Ian brings him back ;P
Overused? Tommy. He should have just been used once in Hare Scare.
Underused? Nack. He only apperars about once every 25 to 50 comics. I hope he's used more in the future. And Nic, too.
i was actually rhinking that they could do another solo story about him, like about what he's been up to since heart held hostage.
Overused: Two years ago I would have said Knuckles, but now I think I would say... Tommy and Shadow.
Underused: ummm... Dr.Fin and Sally
No freedom fighters remember.
Overused: Mammoth Mogul (one issue is even too much)
Underused: errr...
The problem is the inflation of characters since #30. There are too many for only a 25-pages story per month. Plus, Shadow is the fashionable character; it depends on the current Sega politic. Let's wait for a Blaze miniseries...
