Hey guys, got a request that I'd be interested to see fulfilled. I was just wondering if anyone could find any pics of characters who are cats, bats and rabbits that were shown in the Archie comics BEFORE Big, Rouge or Cream were introduced. I'm just interested to see, if there are any, how closely Archie managed to get those particular species to look to the Segasonic versions of the species before they were ever concieved. Any help?
Hmmm... there are the Yagyu bats that were introduced in Sonic Super Special #8, around 1998-9. More info here. There is Jack Rabbit (1998) and Bunnie Rabbot (1992-1993), of course. Can't think of any other rabbits. For cats, there is Hershey the Cat (1997) and the Felidae Warriors, but they premiered with Big I think.
You can just skip the text and looks at the scans, though. Due to many switches in artists, some characters can end up looking a lot different, though. Can't give you my own clearer scans at this time myself though, so I hope these will do.
So basically like a whole other universe than SegaSonic, other than the Yagyu, which they deserve credit for due to them arguably being better drawn than Rouge.
The Yardley Peppers Bates move to Sonic style is among the major reasons I'm getting interested. It looks like they are members of the same universe instead of Sonic being an alien invading mobius.

Cheers for the replies, its interesting to see how varied the species looked before their official mickey moused styled segaization of the species occured. Now that I've just remembered Jet, Wave and Storm, does anyone have any images of bird type characters that Archie had before Sonic Riders was concieved?
Also that Ixis Naugus bat looks terrible, lmao.

The first two have been sorta tweaked to fit in better with the style... I think any others have more or less fallen by the wayside.
Actually, there seem to be a lot of birds who are basically SegaSonic (Bean, Speedy, Fukurokov, etc.) but predate the Babylon Rogues/Uekawa style, too.
