Here's an interesting thought, and please stop me if it's been done...
In 170, we got a look at the old badniks from Sonic's goofier days, all out on an island, still being goofy. How well would those badniks fit in the atmosphere of today's comics? Anybody in particular you'd like to see get brought back in (and not in a substantially different way, like Caterkiller 2.0)?
I dunno. Most of them came back from an era where the comics were mainly slapstick and comedic more than anything else. If you changed them to be more hardcore and tough, it might destroy the appeal they had as the bumbling robots that Sonic got to embarass on every such occasion. Unless we had the mini story often be like the Sonic comics of old, I'd rather they stay in the past.
I liked Karl's plan for Coconuts being a B-list villain, with Scratch, Grounder, and an amnesiac Nate Morgan as henchmen. I think Scratch, Grounder and Coconuts should be brought back.

Seeing them try to organize and become some sort of threat is intriguing... Perhaps they can enter the scene and try out their grande plan only to be embarrased by Sonic or even Robotnik himself. Wouldn't hurt, and it's quick and easy. I don't see them as long running nemeses of anyone though so I hope the comic doesn't try to do that

This document was written by Karl, detailing his ideas for the comic after issue #130. Mike and Karl didn't agree on these ideas and that is reportedly why Karl left the book.
i really wish they would bring the super sonic search and smash squad... especially coconuts, I loved his story in #30
