on the anchorbay forum they said that sega wouldn't let them make it because dvds weren't around when the show was aired.what kind of lame excuse is that
What makes me wonder is that depite this, SATAM airs on digital TV here. (That wasnt around back in 1993.)
Im guessing DIC dont want to be bothered and thus put the blame on others.
Perhaps the US DVD didnt do as well as they hoped and because of that they didnt release anymore and put the blame on sega/disney, to keep fans of their back?
Of course that should have no impact on the UK. As we have had no satam videos or dvd's released here.
BTW; that bootleg DVD on the fus page looks pretty damn good. (cover I mean.) Tis a shame its not the real deal.
I got the DVD and i watched the episodes(i have never seen SatAM before) and wow. Dramactic Cliffhanger? yeah! Its now a shame. You kind wish it just ended after those fireworks and the celebration so there was no cliffhanger. You think SEGA have got a problem with this! Look at Archie Sonic! I dont watch Sonic X so i just hope the comics keep me reading and the game keeps me playing.
So Shendu, I presume those DVD's have a nice picture quality?
Very Good picture, but you can see motion paths in it sometimes. Worth the money (25).
Disney needs to get sacked!:">
*setting*: Disney HQ
*somehow I rikorillaz teleport there*
walks in while Walt Disney is counting money from his crappy movies
Me: hey Walt, How Ya doin?
Walt: Get outta here, I don't feel charitable!
Me: Ok, but first, i have to ask why you will not allow SATAM on DVD, the fans and I have been waiting too long Walt.
Walt: NEVER! As long as i have them red-tapped in faulty legalization papers, the fans will have to wait for an eternity! WAHAHAHAHAAHAHAAHA!
Me: uhh uhh uhhh! You answered wrong, Ha-Cha!
*tears his "pride" with blender*
Me: Yay! now to obtain those DVDS, screw you Disney you shouldn't mess with SATAM!!!!!!!
And I do not care if this is inappropriate, but I know everyone wishes to do this, and so fans I fullfilled yur dreams! fake checks are in the mail
While you're at it do you think you could do something about DVD sets to the past 11 seasons of Power Rangers? Yeah its a known fact to those people on their forums that Disney holds all the cards to that deal too. So if you're gonna get SatAM on Dvd, then you might as well do those people a favor too even though PR is one of the big reasons SatAM only went as far as it did.
Hey, don't look at me that way. Even though ABC had just a two-seasons-per-show policy back then, I'm sure that SatAM would've lived on and been just as successful on some other network if PR hadn't made such devastating competition.
Walt Disney has kind of been dead for a while. And I hardly think that Disney execs are purposefully refusing to release SatAM on DVD. There's probably a lot of legalities to it that we don't know the half of.
His son!
i'll tell you guys what im ginna email Anchor Bay UK and see if they can help on the SATAM subject.
i may or may not get lucky but its worth a shot.
i call back if i get a response from them (if im lucky).

<waits by phone>... Wait a minute...where's the phone!?! HEEEEELLLLLPP!
In the business world money talks. want someting you better have the green to back it up. I think it is going to be more than 30 bucks to get anyone to release something. All we can do is pirate it from the internet, find dvds that havent been recalled, or bust out thousands of dollars.
I now suspect it's Sega after reading that one link. It is no secret that AoSTH went off the air on Toon Disney around the same time Sonic X started airing on Fox. I think Sega just doesn't want anything competing with Sonic X. That's too bad if true. All I can say is that if you live in the UK buy the Sonic Underground complete series. Even if you may not be the biggest fan of it, the more it sells the better the chance that SATam or AoSTH will be released as well.
I bought it, and even though I'm stuck watching it on a portable DVD player with a mere 8 inch LCD display I'm just glad to be able to watch it again. Those portable DVD players really are a marvel aren't they?

Allready did.... 2weeks ago today. havent heard a thing.
But try anyway, they may respond if more than one person asks the same question.

SEGA are tyrants, we should start our own Freedom Fighter group.
Yes! I hooked up the little DVD player thing to my TV and it displayed the image with no problems whatsoever. I thought there would be display issues with Pal format DVD's on an NTSC TV?
Anyways, if I ever come into millions of dollars I am gonna personally throw enough money at all the companies involved to get them to release SATAM, and AoSTH on DVD.

YEAH!!! Who cares about those stupid starving children in Africa!?! We need our SATAM!

As long as the DVD Player is able to play the region DVD, it should play properly.
No way its only the real deal that i want!
This thread was on the forum sticky, so therefore I will use it unless told otherwise by you good people.
I found this post on Ken Penders' board and would like to know what you think of it. If the series really is finally coming out, then hooray. If not, well, life goes on.
Sonique's one of the bigger SatAM fans out there. And we know she has connections. If she says we may be getting a box set of the entire 2 season run... hey, we might just be getting a box set of the entire 2 season run.
WAAAAHOOOOO!!!! Now the only way this can get better for us is if these DVD releases inspire Sega to finally release the rights on the Archie exclusive characters and create games that include them (possibly as playable too). Say like, a Knuckles game that actually pits him against Enerjak and the Dark Legion. Or perhaps something based off the first 50 issues.... maybe playing as Bunnie versus Mecha Sonic like in the Mecha Madness special.
Of course the series being released on DVD alone is more than I ever hoped to ask for. I wonder if these can be pre-ordered?
I seriously doubt THAT will ever happen. Anyway, I'm sitting this one out, someone let me know when they release an AoStH DVD set. THAT'S when I'll get excited.
I didn't say it would happen... just that it should. Simply nothing more than wishful thinking.
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
About time we got a DVD box set. Im dissapointed it wont come out during Sonic 15 anniversery. Kick ass bonus feature? Wonder what kind of feature we will get?
SatAM's 15th, then? When's that, anyway?
First, WAHOO!!!
Second, it's good to see Shout! Factory finally was able to clear things up to release the show. They know how to make fans happy, that's for sure, especially with a self-proclaimed "80's-90's geek" putting this release together.
If the sets sell well, here's hoping for some Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog goodness on DVD in the future. ^^
SatAM DVD rerelease? Huzzah!
That wouldn't be until September 2008, Psx. I believe the exact date is the 18th of Sept, but I can't be bothered to verify it. Of course, if you mean by when they started producing it, that I wouldn't know beyond probably being in 2007.
I suppose they'd go by date of the first airing if that were the case. So, yeah... what's another two years to the ever-patient SatAM fan, hm?
Its hard to believe that the battle is finally won! I never thought id actually see the day when SoniqHQ would post a news update announcing that SatAM DVDs are being released! The elation is overwhelming and in the 10 years that ive visited this site, I've never lost hope. Score one for the fans!!
I am excited about this. "Sonic the Hedgehog" is still one of my favorite cartoons.
I cannot believe this. SatAM on dvd, damn I'm going to cry. Wait till the friends get a load of this. Yes, I did register for an account, just to rejoice for the Complete dvd version of Sonic Saturday Morning!

Art contest for upcoming SatAm box set announced.
Want to leave your little mark on Sonic history, your brilliant Sonic artists? Now's your chance. By: nuckles87, 1st November 2006 (04:45)You want to leave your mark on Sonic history, folks? Now's your chance. Brian Ward from Shout! Factory has just announced a fan art contest for the Sonic the Hedgehog: The Complete Series DVD boxset.
This fan art must meet the following requirements:
*Entries should represent SatAm Sonic. They can be any kind of art, having anything to do with SatAm, as long as it's appropriate. Any kind of art is excepted and has a chance of being featured.
*Should be scanned in 300 DPI.
*Shoud be sent by November 4th (Brian apologizes for the delay, it took longer then expected for him to get the approval from Sega and DiC).All entries should be submitted to SonicFanArt@hotmail.com . They will be judged by Shout! Factory's own art director, Emily Johnson. The winning entries will contribute to the packaging of the DVD box set, and featured within the thinpaks of the discs themselves.
If you have any more questions regarding this contest, please take them up with Brian at FUS's "Sonic the Hedgehog Box Set" thread on the site's front page. He is called "ShoutInsider". I will update this news post whenever new info on this contest is revealed.
CLARIFICATION: It seems there has been a misunderstanding from some of the people here. You are not designing a DVD COVER. You are just drawing art that could be used on the packaging or in the DVDs themselves. You are not designing DVD covers, here. Just do your best and submit it.
I know there are quite a few artists hanging around here who might find this relevant to their interests.
Too bad it's for fan art, I'll have to pass.
That's pretty interesting, Psx. Though, I doubt not many people, especially artists, would see that here. What about MFC, or Carni Isle?
Shame I only just now saw it and its in for tomorrow. No way will I be able to do something for it, then.
According to Ken Penders' blog, he's being strongly considered for the cover art, which he has posted here.
I wonder if it'll be used. It looks pretty good to me.
I just got off the phone with my brother who just got off the phone with Ken Penders. According to Ken, the fan art contest has been extended for two weeks. The fan art that wins will not only appear on the inside sleeves, but as a DVD extra. (Probably a slideshow.) Anyone who lives in the Long Beach/Bellflower area can come by Metropolis Comics and we'll scan and E-Mail your art to Shout Factory ourselves. If you are e-mailing it to them directly they want the e-mail pic at 300DPI (Isn't that for printers? I'm not tech savvy. I guess that means not too high res.)
You can find our street address at the metropolis website at www.metrohero.com
That's reasonable, anything less than a week is too short a time limit. Especially if they want something approaching high quality.
[bw1979's post, moved from another thread]
I'm just curious as to what Ben Hurst will say when he is interviewed for the boxset.
I'm sure he'll talk about the series and how it came about.
He may even talk about that they may have tried to get the series back on the air when it was first canceled, by having it join another network.
I'm sure he'll talk about the lost 3rd season.
And maybe why Blast to the Past and Doomsady were made.
That's what I think he may talk about.
But what you guys, what do you think he'll talk about.
o.O..Yay foir SatAM..
