Mine are The Doomsday Project, and Sonic's Nightmare. The Doomsday Project mostly cause almost everyone got captured, and the evil evil cliffhanger. And Roboticized Sally gave ME nightmares as a kid! 😮

"Sonic, where were you when the brains were handed out?"

All of them. I'm always terrified at the fact that the show was made. =D

Can we get some reasoning behind those answers, please, guys?

i'd have to say the scariest for me was the one where Robotnik makes a copy of Sally but when i was a kid i always got scared that Sonic wouldn't figure out she was fake. ^^;

I have to say Doomsday right when Snively came at the end durning the ABC run. Rewatching the dvd set again, i still find it creepy.

Sorry to ask a dumb question, but what does SaTAM mean?

SatAM means "Saturday Morning". That's the time slot the cartoon ran. It's just an abbrev to let people know you are talking about the ABC Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon and not the character, comic, or video games of the same name.

Welcome to MoFo, and hope you have a good time posting. ^__^

EDIT: Right, the topic. No SatAM ep scared me. I thought it was fun mostly and liked watching, but was never frightened.

'Sonic's nightmare'

It had a horror film-like esque to it with the way Sally is Sonic's nightmare says 'Sonic...where were you when the brains were handed out?" and the way poor roboticized Sally in Sonic's nightmare screams horribly after she's 'noticed' (I'll go with noticed even though roboticised mobians don't seem to have free will to express outright emotion) that she's robot.

Oh yeah, the part when Antoine, Bunny and Sally are in Nimbus dressed as SWATbots was pretty suspenseful

I didn't actually find any SatAM episodes scary in the kind of way that would provoke terrified screaming if it were intense enough. For my part, I got shivers from the split in half Antoine episodes from Season 3.

Here's my reasoning: Antoine is not a cool character. If you want mild comic relief, or a mockery of the French, then he's your guy. Otherwise, he's just a useless idiot who kept getting the other Freedom Fighters in trouble.

Look at the episodes I've mentioned: Fed Up With Antoine/Ghost Busted and the Odd Couple/Ro-becca. In fed up with Antoine, the least useful of the SatAM Freedom Fighters proves how pompous he is by acting all arrogant when a group of cannibal hyenas make him their king. Not only does he continue his obviously unwanted advances towards Sally, but he has the audacity to NOT get eaten! I know, it was a kids show, but that dummy had it coming.

Ghost Busted and the Odd Couple weren't that scary, unless you count Antoine's attack of insanity after sharing a hut with Sonic for several hours. Ro-becca, on the other hand, is demented enough to make you want therapy. You've got a "feminine" robot who rips off the bride of Frankenstein's monster, and she just so happens to be attracted to Antoine. Not only does Antoine not feel joy at finally having someone who's in love with him, he eagerly seeks a way to get rid of her. That freaky machine doesn't give up until he turns up his weirdo meter to 10, and then she makes a b-line for Sonic!

Well, there you go: the two scariest episodes in SatAM-in my opinion, at least.

There wasn't a scariest episode, for me, but there were some moments I found kind of scary or freaky. The robotic Sally was somewhat creepy, as well as Uncle Chuck when he when he went back and forth losing his free will. Sonic's nightmare was freaky too, Kath Soucie(Sally's VA) milked the line "Sonic where were you when the brains were handed out" for all it was worth, which made Sonic's nightemare a little scary.

I thought the "Robecca" episode was kind of frighening. What was Roter thinking when he was creating an android with a rampaging instinctives.

Rotor didn't create that demented robot with that personality; she was supposed to be his lab assistant, but Antoine screwed up around her and caused her malfunction.

I agree that Sonic's Nightmare was a creepy episode at the parts when Sonic was actually having his nightmare, but aside from that it wasn't all that scary. A really scary episode: Warp Sonic, the one with that stupid goat Griff. Watching Sonic and Antoine make total fools of themselves trying to outdo him and each other while flirting with Sally is just plain spine-tingling.

Sonic's Nightmare was a pretty scary episode in a way. It was chilling to see Sonic in his attempt to save Sally, only to be left totally helpless as he succumbed to ultimate failure, losing the girl of his dreams.

That was chilling, now that I think about it. Of course, I see it as something of a tragic romance idea: Sonic loves Sally so much, and in his dreams he couldn't save her.

The pilot episode. Sally's appearence there scared the hell out of me. o_O

It wasn't that bad; it was just a design element that they hadn't resolved. I rather like the ponytail, myself.

Scariest part of SatAM: Antoine. I mean, a guy who constantly makes advances on a woman who has shown no interest on him and freaks out over improperly prepared French cuisine is just unsettling. Of course, I do like the fact that he was basically a thinly disguised mockery of French culture.

I hope you mean that you like the idea of parody in general, and not that you're just randomly throwing some French-bashing out there. This forum gets some traffic from several countries you know, France included. <__<

I'd also point out that Sally actually kissed Antoine in one ep (Spyhog I believe, because he did save her life when the magnet belt failed to work, he grabbed onto her before she fell splat to the ground). And she did flirt with him a few times, mostly to make Sonic jealous true, but a dim-witted guy that takes most everything literally and doesn't have a firm grasp of English probly wouldn't realize that. So it's not like she showed no interest, just not as much as she showed for Sonic. That's the one aspect of Sally's personality that bugs me the most: if you're not romantically into a guy what's crushing on you please say so. You'll only embarass him once, as opposed to him humilating himself MANY times. Don't except flowers/other gifts without making it clear "I only like you as a friend".

Anyhoo, this is bit off-topic. I know there's a topic somewhere about Least Favorite or Most Annoying characters. You want to talk about Ant there, fine. It's totally within your right to dislike him. But this topic is for scary EPISODES. As I said before, I didn't find any scary. I don't think I've been frightened by TV unless it's the news. The real world is scary enough for me.

Well played, Ms. Puar; perhaps I meant that the scariest episodes always involve Antoine in some way.

I see your point Miss Puar, and I am glad that Archie has gotten away from Sally being that much of a flirt.
