Here's a new thread for entertainment as we wait for the next issue to arrive...

SEGA in ARCHIE. It's always been a part of the comic (OBVIOUSLY), but with Sega and Archie branching out into their own universes with their own characters... where do we draw the line?

I have a problem with introducing Sega characters for only one story and then not elaborating them anymore. Big? Gamma? Disappeared. Lumina? Void? Only mentioned once ever. It seemed that they were going to quit with the new characters when Cream wasn't included, and that seemed like it might work.

However, what is UP with introducing Blaze, Jet, Storm, and Wave in those back stories??? I was insulted that we had to read about them instead of characters we already know and want to know more about.

And then why NOT include Cream? Her story would be far more interesting to read about and have more of an effect on our original cast than the others. And I thought that a big part of Blaze's story was her connection with Cream.

I had no problem with leaving Cream to the Sonic X series (don't get me wrong... cuz I'd drop dead if Chris ever showed up in the Archie series). But why must we have to deal with these other *lesser* characters as well? Wouldn't it make sense for them to be in Sonic X as well???

What are your thoughts on this, everyone?

The Sonic X comic can only have characters that appeared in the show.

Thuh end.

A game tie-in, presumably editorially-mandated, and sets up future use of them as new antagonists.

I gotta agree about Sonic X.

This was a 3 season anime, that is over and done with. In order for the series to grow in the comic it needs to add more of Sega's Sonic characters. It only makes sense as Sonic X is a very close adaption of Sonics' video game cannon.

The Sonic X comics is the only thing left of the Sonic X legacy.Unless, the DVD's,of course. But that don't really count.

Anyhow,Mike Pellerito said " Cream is coming " and stuff like that,I kinda thought he meant the STH comics, but he really meant the Sonic X ones so techically he lied.

Cream may appear in STH but I greatly doubt it.

One of the reasons we don't see many of the characters from the SEGA universe appear more than once is because of conflicts with storylines (thanks Ken :thumbsup ).

We're lucky these days to see Knuckles and the Chaotix show up every now and then, or even Nack on the side. We'll probably never see any of the other characters again (Big, for example), and with any luck Ian will probably be bringing in the Armada (which may or may not include the Babylon Rogues).

Shadow and Rouge, however, are dead-set in the comic as major characters, or at least semi-major. Probably on par with the Chaotix.

As for Cream and her mum Vanilla, Sonic X can keep them. I've never really been a fan of either.

What are you talking about Shigamado? Sonic X already has the majority of current video game characters, and I would fancy it not bringing in any of the old characters that plague the other comic.

I think he means that need to focus less on Sonic/Tails/Amy/Cream. Knux, Shadow, Rouge, Big, Omega, the Chaotix, etc. all need more prominent roles. Plus the comic would probably benefit from using Mighty or Fang or something, because the Mobian character list at the moment is only so limited.

As I just said, I would appriciate the comic NOT using those characters, such as Mighty, Fang, Bean, Bark, whoever.

Whoops, sorry. For some reason I thought you said "I would fancy it not bringing in any of the old characters that plague the show." =p

I still stand by my original statement though, the second-teir Mobians need more exposure and there needs to be some third-tier Mobians built up. Sega needs to break this "not in the comic if not in the show" deal, and either let in other game characters like Silver or Blaze, or let the writers create some of their own.

Because we all know how great it is when the writers at Archie make thier own characters, right?

Anyway, I seriously doubt that is going to happen. Besides, Joe has said many times that he has too many characters to work with anyway, so I doubt he'd want to work on bringing in more.

Some have been great; some have been crappy. I don't think we can say for sure one way or other eh?

Where did you see that? Is it a given?

In any case I think the Sonic X comic and anime are focused in a way that the Archie comic will never be. There are two completely different creative visions at work here, and personally the less cross-pollination I see between the two titles the better. I love both though :)

Mike said that in the letters page a long time ago--as it was before the Sonic X comic came out. During the creation of the Sonic X comic, it was seemingly decided to keep Cream a Sonic X comic series "only" character instead of just adding her into the Archie STH cast immediately. I put "only" in quotes because I'm sure she'll make it into the Archie STH series at some point. But that's my feeling, not something based on insiders knowledge--and I make that distinction only because sometimes I do get insiders knowledge. ;p

Heh. The last true adventure the whole SatAm Gang went on I can recall from the comics was in issue 137. The one where they went to rescue Tommy from that robot duplicator factory.

Not if Ian has anything to say about it. I recall quite distinctly his feelings toward Cream when she first debuted in Sonic Advance 2. Though I think he's mellowed somewhat on her character since then.

Joe is no longer the only writer working on stories for Sonic X.

Mellowed? Brothers and sisters, I have been converted!

I think Cream could be a fun addition to the cast, especially as a foil to Amy Rose. There'd be a lot to explore concerning all the character built off her as well (Cheese, Chocola, Vanilla).

But Cream et al. are still Sonic X-exclusive for the foreseeable future. Even if that were to change today they wouldn't be popping up for a long while.

I was hoping he'd be more of a threat, not some panty waste who makes deals.
