This topic was started at another forum on 4/23/10, and is still going on, So I thought I'd give it a shot here, here's the link:
http://saturdaymorningson...     Read the post on there, then please read mine below.

Let's see what I can do here.

Well first off, the Amy here in the comic is different then the Amy in Games and Sonic X.

You see in the games and Sonic X, that's the Amy, all fans would want to see Sonic with.

But the Amy in the Archie Sonic Comics is not that Amy, cause the comics go by what was established in it's continuity.

For example, in issue 79 I believe, Amy used the magical Ring of Acorns to age herself older, so she could with the Freedom Fighters to Station Square. Now true, this was also done to tie into the Sonic Adventure Game and new designs for the Characters at the time, but that's just some of the continuity that comic sticks with.

Another example is in a backstory, where Amy and Tails went to school, and Amy had to be in the same age graded class as Tails.  This meant, that despite the fact, that she magically aged herself, doesn't mean she is mentally that same age.

Now true, she has shown maturity in some issues, most recently in 210, showing how good a leader she could be, but then in 211, where she embraces Sonic atop of the Iron King, that would give people the wrong impression about her.

Sally on the other hand, is an established character in the comic's continuity, that has been Sonic's love interest the longest.

Now true, the writers of the comic have portrayed her in ways that make her act b***y, and selfish, mostly from issues 90 -123, and then in 134. But I guess to those writers, it's all about development in the character.

Now Ian has stated that he wants to get Sally back to oldself, basically back to what made the fan favorite back in the '90's.  Which means even if Ian has to write Sally in the way of her wanting to patch things up with Sonic and try salvage what's left, in other words, see if there is enough oil left in the candle for their flame to be ignited anew, then the reason for that is Ian is going by not just what a majority of long time readers and fans say, but by the comic's continuity.

In other words, Amy may have matured in someways in the comic's contumely, to the point that she could have a steady relationship with Sonic, but it's the way she is portrayed differently here.  I mean if Amy was portrayed here, in the same way she is in the games and Sonic X, then things might be different.

But also remember, the comic's continuity is/was loosely based off the SatAM Series, so that may be also one the strong reasons why Sally seems to always end with Sonic and vise versa in the end.

And that just may take on it.
