For those of you who have not seen my message on Ken Penders's board, this looks like another solicitation that was written before the final script was completed (which is understandable--solicitation have to written months in advance). Just so you know, there is no ProtoShadow. That element had to be removed at the request of Sega (long after the solicitation was written). What's worse--that was the original mystery for a three issue arc that the solicitation just gave away! Ouch.
FYI--the plot elements remain the same, but there is now a different mystery involved, so at least there will still be some element of surprise in the issue.
Oh--and Cowboy has an official name now. He's Captain Harold Westwood.
--Joe Edkin
Hmm. Yeah.
The SX preview could have gone like this:
Troubles beneath the city abound! When Topaz & Rouge are assigned to an investigation over Harold Westwood once more, the wayward worker decides to go anyways - underneath their noses! Teaming up with Sonic, Westwood suddenly finds himself in the middle of a war zone, while Rouge and Topaz suddenly find themselves hunted as well! Will they all make it out alive? And what exactly was uncovered inside the city sewers that has piqued everyone's interests? You won't believe the answers in the lastest issue based on the hit series!!
....and it would have probably been more accurate. >_>
Here's hoping for more homocidal bomb throwing/obsessed Bean the Duck (Ian said Bean and Bark are a lot like those in the fancomic "3-B", so I'm holding onto his words for that!).
~Neo
Starring Bean and Bark may be an ATTRACTION to the comic, wouldn't you think?
Wait a mniute, why would Bark and Bean be working for Robotnik? Are they good guys or not?
So Rouge and Evil Sonic are going to try and get the Master Emerald again eh? Five bucks says either the Brotherhood appears out of nowhere and beats the crap out of them both or Lien-da does that and Evil Sonic dumps Rouge for her. Anyone want to contribute to that(?) because I can seriously see that happening.
I just had an overpowering sensation of Doom.
I just PRAY Ian does well, can't Sonic's Birthday be peaceful, last time there were Meteors.
Call me crazy but I have a REALLY bad feeling about this Issue.
Yes, well, I have a great feeling about this issue.
I would like too see the cover, anyone know when it comes out?
Westfield gets their previews many days after 86th floor. However, Westfield has the only preview catalog with COVERS. We'll have to wait until about the 30th. Ten more days.
To be honest, though, I haven't checked yet.
Sonic birthday? Must be a late birthday since Sonic spend a year in space. Happy 17th birthday Sonic
No >< So its been two years now {I don't want to make this another time debate. I'm just a person that sticks to the notion that even if gone from your home planet you still have a current age as well as a "real" age} and he's 18.
This is Issue 160? When did he turn 16? Issue 79? Wth 80 issues..I'm not completly intrigued at all with Bean and Bark.... so I'm really not looking forward to it -.-
Sonic turned 16 in #68.
Sonic was in space a whole year so he was then 17, however, you could argue that Sonic has only Lived 16 years of his life.
And now, it is Sonic's 18th Birthday. But Sonic lived for 17 years.
Hope that good enough facts.
Yeh. But, people are rumoring that Sonic's turning 17 in issue #160, which just doesn't seem to work. Clarification would be really nice. =)

Here it is:
Year 3220
Day 162: Sonic s born, according to Sega Data File in issue 112.
Year 3236
Day 162: Issue 68's "Surprise." Sonic turns sixteen.
Year 3237
Day 162: Issue 160's "Birthday Bash." Sonic turns seventeen.
This means Tossed in Space wasn't really a full year. It was probably about nine or ten months, with issues 69-125 and 130-159 fitting into the remainder.

I was actually thinking that too...
When you think about it, it makes sense. After all, when that girl told Sonic that a year had passed, I doubt that EXACTLY a year had passed.
Here's some rough estimates on my part:
#125 happened somewhere around day 250 of 3236.
#130 happened somewhere around day 120 of 3237.
According to Sonic-Grams in issue 110, there are 370 days in a Mobian year, with twelve extra days every five years. Let's call 3236 a leap year, just for convenience. So there are 382 days in that year, meaning 252 days passed between according to my shot-in-the-dark estimates. That's roughly eight and a half of our months. Sounds reasonably close to a year, don't you think?
And Tails' birthday was supposed to have been soon-after the Xorda attack, while Sonic was in space; 160 days after Sonic's birthday. Correct?

According to my made-up numbers and Tails's birthdate from the Sega Data File, Tails turned eleven a couple months after the Xorda attack.
Hey Joe, I hope it's alright for me to ask - what was 'ProtoShadow' going to be like? I understand if it's not something you're allowed to talk about, but I'm assuming that since this ProtoShadow didn't actually make it into the comic, it'd be no different than one of the rest of us talking about a fancharacter we'd created, so.. yeah. I'm interested. Was he/she/it going to be an anthropomorphic hedgehog like Shadow, or would it be some other creature, like the Biolizard [Prototype of the Ultimate Life Form]? If it was indeed a hedgehog, did it look much like Shadow?
Just curious, but like I said, s'alright if you can't say anything, and sorry in advance if that's the case ^^;
It was obviously going to just be Shadow in Proto Man's outfit, yellow scarf and all.
I don't see the point in bringing back the base from the comic's early days- but Bark & Bean? By the guy who did 3-Bs? Lovely jubbly!
If Bark and Bean appeared in Sonic Fighters (right?), then why wait until now to have them officially debut in the comic? Wouldn't it make more sense to have had them show up near the beginning of the series when Archie tried to make as many Sega game-based tie-ins as possible? Though both of them do appear somewhat original, a reasonable analogy by myself places them as the comparatively organic versions of Heavy and Bomb. Besides, I never heard of any information before this thread to suggest they would ever be villians. Is that how their charcters are supposed to be? Also, why is Bean constantly referred to as "The Dynamite" instead of "The Dynamite Duck"? For the short time I first heard about him before learning what he really was, I kept having this image of a walking stick of dynamite (appropriately drawn by Dub) running through my head.
This is #160? I thought I heard that the next story arc with Shadow (Blackhog Down?) and the Metal Sonic troopers was supposed to be four issues? And how does the main part of the story tie into Evil Sonic and Rouge going after the Master Emerald again anyways?
and like Patch gets set back to his world in the end.
Just my opoion.

No, 3 issues.
Ian is my new hero. #160 sounds fantastic.
Could someone show me a link to this 3-B's comic. Please.
One thing I'm happy with is that we will probably see some comedy put back into the book.
Coverz:
I'm so glad to see Spaz doing another Uekawa-style cover. I was afraid after 150 that we weren't going to see any more of those.
Odd SX Sonic looks light blue while Archie Sonic is dark blue. Also the cover for 160 looks boring compared to SX#7.
It's like they don't even tell Spaz what's going on in the main comic anymore. Probably because they aren't too certain themselves now, with all the recent "lettings go" of writers Bollers and now Penders.
The EKG is fluctuating rapidly. Someone needs to get this book stable, stat. 50ccs of Ian Flynn, nurse...
As it's been presumed elsewhere, the preview cover for S#160 is probably just a place-holder to preserve the surprises of the issue.
And while the preview paragraph is right on the money, there's certainly some big surprises that haven't even been hinted at. Which is just about killing me. HURRY UP, MARCH XD
Forget about the chronology and Bean and Bark, I'm trying to wrap my mind around:

How do you give someone a base for their birthday? And if they don't like it, can they trade it in for a summer camp?
Here we go again...
XD
...Going down the only road I've ever known
Like a drifter I was born to walk alone
But I've made up my mind
I ain't wastin' no more time
Oh...you weren't singing Whitesnake...my bad
that's like... my favorite song. keep on rockin'.
Let the judgement be upon us - EARLY!
Comics Continuum has preview pages up for your viewing pleasure.
Bean is freakishly amusing.
Wow...I'm actually interested in reading this, since this is Ian's first work, hope he has me locked on the comic like he did in Other-M.
Ha. I found it funny that the SWATbots thought Blaze was a "he!"
One word: "SHINIES!!"
I love you already, Ian. ^_________^
GREAT art from Tracey, too. It's refreshing to see his new style grace the book.
Lookin' forward to Tania's story, too. Blaze seems like a character that would be right up her alley.

...And Bunnie can punch through a battleship, but not through an ugly polar-bear?
She was flying around during #133. The speed she was flying at helped her to punch a hole through Eggmans battleship. At least, that's one way to explain it. ^^;

Wait just a... where's THAT page?

No, seriously. It's there, it's just not linked to. But it was easy to find, what with its obvious filename.
Hooey. Good job, Dirk. We think alike.
Hey that's the old-school SWATbot colours. Ever since Robo-Robotnik replaced the old Robotnik, the SWATbots have been black.
And what are SWATbots doing so close to Knothole Village anyway? The Freedom Fighters defense line has seemingly disappeared, so that SWATbots can just cruise on in and Eggman can do drive-bys (#157). The FF's are too caught up in their own soap operas to give a hoot.
I have to admit that I'm not crazy about the art in this issue. It seems to..."cute" even more so than the art in the sonic x comic(almost more than dawn best's art).I myself liked j.axers art, fry's and steven butler. But back to the issue I think that its weird that tails is all of a sudden cool with sonic, since he was so upset about seeing sonic and fiona together and claiming that he hated sonic.I am actually looking foward to the sonic rush backup story more than the main story, however. As for spite's response I agree, you would think that they would have some sort of security system going on or something.
It looks like a mix of Dawn Best's art and Art Mawhinney's artwork. Doesn't it?
take out Dawn best and add ron lim.
Ron lim + art mawhinney= extra suck.
