I mean how many times did they risk their lives to save the king even going to the Zone of Silence for a second time knowing how dangerous it was and how crazy Max was even willing to fight his own daughter.
True, but there's nothing to suggest that they do or do not have the same loyalty now as they did then. If it were me, I know I wouldn't still be loyal.
You guys are still missing the point. Believe me, I know where you coming from, but still, it is really, and I mean really, hard to rebel against something you've been loyal to for so long. They may see the flaws but they are still going to be a little shaky going against it; I'm not saying they won't but it won't be immediate. If Amadeus had talked to them about it for say a week or month and they had time to think on it, they might've agreed but for it to happen all of a sudden could be too much for them.
Also, Spectre, the king hasn't really treated them badly; sure, he disbanded them, but he didn't think he needed them, and to be completely honest at the time he didn't, but he did eventually reinstate them after the attack on the Royal Secret Service. I don't think the FFs would be mad at him for that, and honestly, I can't think of another instance where he disregarded them.
As for the kingdom part, really how can you have a Kingdom of Acorn without a House of Acorn, and I mean that seriously, yet with a hint of a quip. After all it was the Acorns that started the kingdom and where the power lays, and without them, there would be no Kingdom of Acorn it would just be a regular kingdom, and they couldn't apply the title, "Kingdom of Knothole" to the whole worldwide kingdom, either. No, I believe if the Acorn line is to go down the whole kingdom would and it would have to go to some other format, be it separated counries, a republic, democracy or some other form of rule.
Well, maybe another government is what the citizens of New Mobotropolis and the rest of the kingdom needs. I mean, the monarchy hasn't exactly proven all that successful in the past. Really, it's because power wasn't shared equally and because everyone followed the king almost blindly that Robotnik took over in the first place. Not to mention that despite several years of warfare, the House of Acorn has apparently failed to accomplish anything more than a stalemate. Amadeus doesn't want a stalemate, and he doesn't want his son to continue growing up in a world torn by war: he wants to bring an end to it, and he thinks that a new power in charge may help do that.
You've once again proven me wrong, FMR. But really, we've seen no indications of what the Freedom Fighters feel about this. Predict as we might, the only way we'll ever really know is to see what develops.
Yeah, that's right, no matter what we say it's all just speculation. BTW, I ain't trying to prove you wrong I just wanted to show you why maybe the FFs ain't taken sides; of course, you could be right too, I just want to cover all sides though all is just speculation. BTW, have y'all notice that Ian is lurking almost every night? He's probably just sitting there, reading and laughing at all our little dicussions, lol.
I wouldn't doubt it, Ray.
man i dont know why but it takes such a long time to get my comic! still waiting for 178. seems everyone else has received theirs. and alas i wait once more.
If I were Ian, I'd be laughing too. Seriously though, FMR, I'm sorry if that proving me wrong thing makes me sound conceited, and I'm glad that you're not as biased to opinions that you form as I am sometimes. Both of us could be right, and we could both be wrong; just glad to hear that this friendly discussion thread isn't going to turn into an argument. I might not mind a debate...if it weren't for the fact that you seem to have a much deeper understanding of all this than I do.
The Freedom Fighters are probably going to sit this one out, to recover from the Egg Grape Chamber if nothing else.
Yeah, I definately say that the FFs, especially Rotor, Charmy, might sit this one out, but who knows about the others. Anyway, don't worry about it Spectre you don't sound conceited and don't worry about being "biased" I just call it passionate.^_^ Also, I wouldn't start a fight, a healthy debate is always good and as long as I'm involved I will try my best to make it a friendly one. As for having a much deeper understanding, I haven't been with this comic since number 30 and steadily since Knux Mini-Series #1 and Sonic number 34 not to know a little something something about this book and it's world.
Of course we don't know for sure what the FFs think about the issue of reforms or if they will get involved, but is fun and interesting to speculate. The FF's could sit this one out, or not, though I see Sally at least having something to say about it since this concerns her and her families' future. I can't speak for Ian, but if I was a writer it would make me happy to know readers are interested in my story(ies), and that it sparks some thought.
It is interesting to discuss things like this; that's what these sites are for. And I'm glad to hear you fraze my dedication to the series as passion, FMR :D. Of course, mine might just be a little closer to obsessed.
The Freedom Fighters' take on these events will be interesting to see; I just hope that they don't end up being split down the middle. If the Freedom Fighters, who have endured this war despite the Kingdom's temporary fragmentation, were to themselves be fragmented, it would seriously be a bad sign.

Hey, our passion is our obsession!!

But most of us are over twelve years old. We don't think Sonic is cool anymore, remember? We can't let Sega think they were wrong, can we?
You know, that line about being closer to obsessed is something I got from National Treasure. If you don't remember, here it is:
Ben Gates: Take one step short of crazy, and what do you get?
Riley: Obsessed?
Ben: Passionate
Above lines copyrighted to Disney or whoever made National Treasure; I don't remember.
By the way, have we discussed NICOLE's opinion on Amadeus' actions? I haven't read the comic yet, so I'm not sure if she's opposed to it.
She actually hasn't said anything about Amadeus and her opinion on what he's doing persay. She did reprimand Sonic for being so insensitive in front of Tails about his father though. She also warned Sonic later that someone was trying to break him out of the prison, but Sonic ran off before she can tell him who exactly was breaking Amadeus out. But I like the new NICOLE, I think that its good they're bringing her out of the woodwork more.
I like the new NICOLE too; I was quite happy to learn that she'd now be able to have her holographic body almost all the time. Given that she's dedicated to protecting New Mobotropolis inhabitants from outside threats, I'm not sure what stance she might take on the issues-although I'd imagine she'd lean towards the House of Acorn out of loyalty to Sally. It's also good that she's taken up the slack on Sally when it comes to reprimanding Sonic for being an idiot-oh, how I miss Sally getting mad at Sonic for stuff like that.

I know you were joking, but the guy did say he was taken out of context and I do sorta believe him so...IT'S STILL OUR OBESSION!!!!

I'm aware of that. I only said it to be obnoxious.
I figured as much.
Yeah well, you know I like to act that way.
I'm siding with sonic on this whole thing. Yes he's been a little cocky lately, BUT come on.. nothing gets done with out him. Tails was gonna get rejected by Fiona anyway. Just because he liked a robot does NOT give him the right to the real deal.. period! I"m sorry, it's not sonic's fault she went for HIM.
It's also not sonic's fault Tails dad went off the deep in and did a stupid move. Sonic only told it how it is.. it WAS a dumb move.. he should've waited and planned better. PERIOD. And breaking him out of jail wasn't the BETTER option either. Tails is being stupid because of what? Sonic getting the girl he wanted but couldn't have, Sonic being himself? Whatever.... Lets hate SONIC.. because I dunno... I'm being OVER WINNY.
whatever the case may be.. Tails breaking his dad out of jail was WRONG.. and or that fact alone.. Tails went over the line and while I love Tails... he needs his butt kicked for that one. Breaking the law is WRONG.. NO amount of if's and but's will EVER change that.
BTW.. what a post to make as my first....
One thing we all can agree on is that they both need a good butt kicking. they both have valid reasons, and they both are acting way out of proportion on this. I think this fight will be good for them, give them an outlet to get this all out, and I mean EVERYTHING. they'll get everything out in the open, they'll kick each other's butts and then it will hopefully be cool between them cause they've gotten it out of they're systems. now, I only pray that the comic gets here soon!!!
We all know thats going to be the outcome, Betheny. The fun part is ignoring the obvious and over analyzing as only horrifically scary obsessive fans can.
And curse you Ian, this is going to lead to a surge for fan inserts in carnie. What have you DONE!
Ah well, I haven't gotten to fanboy for years so, um...

I'll bet he's lurking around and laughing at us as we speak.
*looks around suspiciously*
I think this sums up this thread nicely.
Is that an actual book? If it is, awesome!
I knew there was something to Amadeus' reforms. -_-
Well guys, Spoilers (Select To Read): the whole thing's been settled now: go take a look at the #179 thread and see for yourself.
Spectre, people'd been doing that for days. Even disregarding the spoiler, was that really necessary?
Yeesh, sorry. My bad for forgetting the spoilers; I'm still getting used to putting those up. I've never done it on any site before this, I just wrote and posted.

Matt, I got correspondence from a college discussing the same topic...are you a fox or a hedgehog, to be specific. I wonder if the writer is from the same school?
