We start off where the spoiler pages left us, with Scourge about to deep six Miles for his treachery. Before he can cook up some fox, Silver interrupts with pyschokenisis! Oh snapz! Scourge is amused and breaks free of Silver's mind power with ease. He's super, remember?

Sonic is still recovering from being put through a wringer, when Metal Sonic grabs him, who realized that trying to take on Super Scourge gives him a chance of 0 percent success, so he'll go after Sonic instead. Shadow kicks him away, saving Sonic the trouble. Sonic asks how they'll get rid of him and Shadow figures he can use the same power Metal used to get here, to beam him away. One Chaos Control later (what a broke ability), Shadow and Metal Sonic are out of here!

Rosy tries to attack Scourge, with little success and Scourge simply tosses her away. Rob secures the knocked out Rosy with magic ropey arrow (No seriously, he shoots an arrow which unbides a bunch of ropes to tie her up). Amy thanks him for taking care of her.

Sonic grabs Miles, demanding where they can find more of those anarchy beryls (ugh). Miles says they hid them away and is quite surprised that Scourge had some stored in the throne. Miles suggests luring Scourge to Mobius but Sonic shoots that idea down quick, arguing that most of the emeralds are stuck in some special zone and the other two aren't available.

Sally rallies the troops with a new plan! Silver holds Scourge in place while Bunnie and Boomer knock him down with energy beams/blasts/whatever. They all then pile on Scourge in hopes of holding him down long enough for him to power down! Sonic doesn't really think this idea will work while Silver says he's about to lose him...

Which Silver does in spectacular fashion! Sonic yells at every to fall down but Scourge isn't having any of that! He drags him outside into the rainy weather, tossing him around like a child's toy. He's still pretty ticked that Sonic turned down the idea of teaming up with him to rule to multiverse, mocking Sonic for sticking to his goodie goodie ways. Scourge is fed up with the idea of ruling anything, instead going from planet to planet, stoming all until he finds a planet that will respect him! I see Scourge and Jenova have a thing in common!

Sonic speeds away, wondering what he can do to stop Scourge's ramapage. He realizes that even when he powers down, he still feels great until a light bulb flashes in his head! Scourge arrives, ready to end this once and for all! Sonic goads him, poking fun at Scourge saying that he had to go super to have a chance of beating him. Scourge doesn't like this but before he can do anything, he powers down to regular form, opps!

Sonic points out that while in his world, he can power down and still feel a bit pumped, the anarchy beryls leave Scourge completly drained of energy (Hmmm energy drink anyone?). Scourge still tries to put up some kind of resistance but Sonic smashes his crown and calls him a bully. He throws him to the ground, reminding Scourge that he takes the quick and easy way out, which gets him nowhere. The good guys win out in the end...this time.

The next day, Buns and the others supervise the Squad disconnecting the star posts. Miles tries to recruit Buns to their team but she tells him to stuff it where the sun don't shine. While the FF and Buns leave, Alicia and Miles explore the castle. She's a bit annoyed they didn't get to copy the plans to the star posts but Miles said he memorized them. He says they must restore her back to her place on the throne but she corrects him, telling him that they both know who's the one who calls the shots.

Sonic meanwhile, asks Silver what he plans to do. Silver decides to do a bit more research before jumping the gun again (lies!) and bids Sonic farewell. The kind ol' Doc thanks them for their help and Sonic asks if he is still tied up. Sally thinks they're both going back but Sonic says he's hauling Scourge to jail in the parallel zone and then get some answers...hmmm

GrandMasterGalvatron was nice enough to post some pics over at Bumbleking, I'll post them here too for you guys to see before you go get the issue:

Sonic finishing Scourge.

Miles and Alicia talk about things afterwards.

I kind of think that Scourge's defeat was Anti-Climactic. I mean, it was okay, but it just felt a little too fast. Things almost felt a little rushed. This definitely wasn't my favorite issue in the Bold New Moebius saga. Scourge getting his keister was satisfying though.

Also, I thought it was interesting of Alicia to basically admit that Miles is the leader of the SS. I kind of like her more as leader, but it makes more sense if he is. I guess she'll remain like a figure head for now.

Concerning Buns, after looking over some dialogue from her and after what Miles said, I honestly wouldn't be too surprised if she returned to them after too long. For the moment though, I quite enjoy having her at the side of Kintobor, and I think she likes it too (for now at least).

As for the Suppression Squad (and the other Moebius characters) in the aftermath of all of this, I'd definitely like to see them again. I do think that after taking over the span of 8 issues (two thirds of a year), it's time for them to take a break for a while. I'll definitely look forward to seeing them again eventually though.

For now though, I'm ready to see some more things from Eggman, Snively, and the Dark Egg Legion, they've all been taking a fairly long break over the past year. Don't get me wrong, they've been appearing and have been playing their parts for the set up of things to come, but I'd like to see them do a little bit more now. Looking at the previews, it does look like my wish will be granted. Also, hopefully we can learn more about RF in the months to come

I don't think those anarchy beryls give him enough power. He burned out pretty fast and he didn't do much to exhaust his power, as opposed to Sonic who had to fight the demigod powered Enerjak.

And I wonder where did Fiona run off to...

My guess iiiiiiiiiis.

He wasn't experienced enough in using them so he couldn't retain the power very long.

EDIT: on no wait. thats not how the beryls work. somehow i missed reading that.......

Scourge powered down willingly, that's how i saw it anyway, sonic's plan was to egg him on until he stopped using the super form. hence why he said " i took you down by myself, but you had to go super to beat me."

Hey. I've read somewhere that he Sonic HQ's Archie review section hasn't been updated in ages. Do you think its possible that we could rectify that? It probably wouldn't be too hard since tornadot does rather good summaries of the comic in general.

But I guess it depends on if its worth the trouble.

that's probably a good thing, i mean there's wikipedia for any real sonic need, admittedly SHQ had some interesting articles though.

From what I gathered, Scourge powered down at will in order to take Sonic out with his "bare hands" so to speak. It backfired like all heck though.

And hey guize!

Sonic points out that while in his world, he can power down and still feel a bit pumped, the anarchy beryls leave Scourge completly drained of energy (Hmmm energy drink anyone?).

He needs enerjak j/k

I liked the bit where Sonic kept on trying to figure out what his weakness as super were to defeat Scourge (good hedgie!), and it looked witty for him to figure out that Scourge powering down would drain him out. I also like Alicia admitting Miles was in charge. Even if she is supposed to be a villain, she has enough head to realise who has the skills for rather than doing something dumber like whining she's the princess and how she's supposed to be in charge. Or bashing her way in.

I'm also hoping that the questions Sonic wants answered might involve Scourge. The whole arc left me wondering; yeah, Scourge is immature, weak, fonzy-knock off with a bad comedy of a crown (which Sonic b-slapped off, thank goodness), he is, or was Sonic. Why would "Sonic" end up turning into such a selfish character? Probably won't be asked since it's OOC for Sonic to "dwell on the past".

Oh yeah, and what happens to Fiona?

did she say that miles was in charge though? she implied that someone else was, not specifically him though.

Well, she glanced at him, while saying that only to him, and he grinned darkly. I doubt she was talking about Rosy.

well she could've been referring to someone else. granted i agree that miles is probably the biggest candidate. for all we know she could've been talking about the dude that killed the "Anti-Rob"

When I first heard about it, I haven't received my issue yet, I thought she may have been talking about Evil St. John, but after seeing the scan, I think it's more than likely Miles, unless Alicia is giving him false hope.

1. Scourge himself says that he's got a different outlook from the start because he was born on Moebius - but Ian seems to've been playing with choices and the whole nature versus nurture idea a lot recently (I'll be interested in seeing what Buns does now...).

2. I think we saw a clue to what Scourge's motivations were when we saw him meeting Jules and comparing backstories - it doesn't look as though he had a good time or good role models as a kid, which brings in the whole nature versus nurture idea again.

3. I've always thought that Sonic Prime did come across as arrogant and selfish. To grab an easy and comparatively recent example: House of Cards, anyone - and Fiona even said as much to Sonic's face when Tails caught Sonic and her canoodling. Sonic needed slapping a long time before #134...

That's the thing I like about the way that Scourge is being written now: the fact that he's less cookie cutter "evil" and more recognisably Sonic seen through a cracked mirror, so to speak...

So, Scourge is Sonic without the inhibitions of the "good" side?

I could get used to that.

I'd expect as much but I still want more backstory.

I'm too new to know about this

But from what I do know, I don't know how Sonic could be seen as "selfish" except for such an instance. He turned down Sally's proposal, he runs away from Amy, even with Fiona he spent more time playing hero than with her.

Yeah

Just got the issue today. A large step up from 195, and a very good ending to a somewhat tiring arc. I'm glad Silver actually helped, so he seemed less shoehorned in than he did last issue. Poor Rob didn't really do much except stop the psycho, and I liked his little exchange with Amy.

I'm glad this issue avoided all the cliche ways you'd expect Sonic to deal with Super Scourge; it was just all of them desperately trying to stop him and Sonic finally getting him away from the others into a very awesome rainy setting. While the whole "Chaos Emeralds=power boost, Anarchy Beryl=drained" thing seemed out of nowhere, I did enjoy Sonic laying the verbal smackdown on Scourge.

Great artwork too! Super Scourge looked like a demon.

I like how we kind of get two "to be continued"s out of this: Shadow and Metal Sonic's dimension hopping battle, and Sonic turning in Scourge and looking for answers.

Quote/ While the whole "Chaos Emeralds=power boost, Anarchy Beryl=drained" thing seemed out of nowhere /Quote

that was my only real problem with the issue, if we were a little more forewarned about that then maybe it wouldn't have been so random, but still.

The way I'm seeing it is we've never seen someone go super through the Anarchy Beryls before so there was no way to know they exhaust you afterwards. If they'd been used before without any consequence I'd be annoyed about it, but finding problem with never-before-used alternate versions of highly mystical objects is just not a nit worth picking.

we've never really seen that the chaos emeralds give sonic a "boost" though. sure in retrospect he's always come out of the form a bit chipper, but it was never really specifically stated is the case we're trying to make.

Let me just clarify first: the post-CE boost isn't huge. You feel great, you could do a couple extra laps around the field, food tastes better - very nominal stuff. It wouldn't really be noticable to the casual observer. Consider this: when has Sonic ever looked tired after powering down? Granted, he was a little woozy after his fight with Hyper Knuckles, but that was more due to being knocked out of his state by their explosive final clash.

Found here.
