Stop the presses! I got the issue today! I can tell you two things.
1. The Eggbeater was beaten though the teamwork of the Freedom Fighters and the Chaotix. Eggman built the armor to counter Sonic's strength, not their's.
2. Sally has got her old hairstyle back! Sally says that it shows that she is on the right track.
There is some other important information, but I will leave this for other users here.
uh. ok. can you please clarify a little more? normally for a spoiler topic you write up a summary of the comic.
I'm sorry. I not really good at summeries.

2. Sally has got her old hairstyle back! Sally says that it shows that she is on the right track.
I have to be missing a context here, as I'm left wondering why Sally having a haircut means she's on the right track.
It is a symbolic message that she is her old self again. If this answer doesn't satisfy you, then wait until you get the issue to see what I mean. Also, there so much I am leaving out, so don't think those two things I mentioned earier are the only things in the issue.
I want to know how you got the issue so early?
The mail.
D: And the subscribtion people get their issue, weeks before they are on stands again.
When is this issue out? Wait, nevermind. I check with Dirk's post.
From the little bits, that have been given it sounds like a pretty good issue. I am glad Sally does think she is getting back to her old self, though I see the point True Red has made; that Sally really hasn't changed that much, maybe just her circumstances thoughtout the comic have changed, and the writers have given her a little more depth.
Could you give me some more details about issue 177? Is their new home salvageable or as destroyed as knothole? And did Sonic did anything useful during Eggman's attack?
More then salvageable and yes in a way.
Did this issue hint on Tails resentment towards Sonic and Tails parents secret plot against the House of Acorn?
Finally, Sally cuts her hair. While Tracey draws her long hair in a rather purdy manner, I still stand by what I said years ago: I never liked Sally with long, flowing hair.
So she decided to go Princess Garnet both physically and metaphorically, ey?
K umm no. This topic should be destroyed until a spoiler of the comic is actually written >> Heck, I didn't even buy 176 yet, Been a bit lazy lol.
"Did this issue hint on Tails resentment towards Sonic and Tails parents secret plot against the House of Acorn?" A little.
I got a subscription and still haven't got mine yet... Usually it should arrive the week after I got Shoujo Beat, so that's next week.
Please do post the whole summary since that's why it's called a spoiler.
PS: Hooray for Sal getting a hair cut. (so did I ^^)
Yeah, please try to start the topic with a whole summary if you ever create the talkback thread again, EHH. It's like, tradition or something.
Although your vagueness makes me want the issue more, so it works both ways, I guess.
Say, if I started a subscription right before 176 came out, is it likely that this will be the first issue I get in the mail?
EHH123, Instead of writing a summary, highlight the main points in this issue.
Good Idea JoJo B.
.Nicole transports convicts to jail
.Nicole powers down holographic form to support city's shields
.Elias tells everyone to find their new homes in city.
.Acorn siblings tell Sonic to get medical attention
.Rotor on strecher.
.Charmy suffered some memory loss but don't know the extent of it.
.Dr. Quack gives Sonic a clean bill of health.
.On Angel Island, Scourge tells Finitevus that Dimitri has run off (figuratively speaking)possibly to tell Knuckles about their Enerjak plan.
.Sally, Bunnie and Antoine talk about their old Freedom Fighter days.
.Sally complains the about formalities after she led the Freedom Fighters(heir-apparent, acting monarch, getting married)
.Sally asks Bunnie if she hasn't taken her "hair dresser" aspiration yet because she has a favor to ask...
.In the Eggfleet, Snivley notices that he is being fired upon. It is Hope flying an airplane who is angry that Snivley tricked her into leaving Knothole. She says she is going back to the Humans and Overlanders so that she could become an engineer and fight him and Eggman. We don't know if Snivley fired back on her.
.The Prowler family gives us some foreshadowing.
.Eggman trys to smash sheild (but to no avail)
.Sonic comes out of city to face him.
.Eggman says that the suit out-performs Sonic in every way.
.Freedom Fighters and Chaotix come (since it was only designed to fight Sonic) and Sally (with classic hairstyle!) orders the attack.
.They destroy the armor bit by bit until Sonic delivers the final blow
.Sally says Eggman is tresspassing on royal grounds and orders Eggman back to New Megaopolis.
.Eggman orders Egg Fleet to fire on them but is stopped by a mini-shield thanks to Nicole.
.Nicole tells Eggman that her friends are showing more mercy then he deserves and recommends that he should retreat
.Eggman does retreat and gives the old "You haven't seen the last of me!" speech
.Sonic notes Sally's new 'do. Sally says that it is to show that she has her heart and mind back on the right track.
.Sonic says he never knew Sally to be Girly in which Sallys says not to ruin the moment.
.Sonic finally says "It's good to be home, Sal"
How is that?
sounds good. Tails' parents' foreshadowing= getting lame.
Enerjak= Good.
great job. This issue sounds good. I can't wait to get my hands on it. So we finally have shields on the city. This is a nice addition. Tomboy Princess Sally is back and I'm happy ^^
Thank you for writing that synopsis EHH123
Oh, is Tracy doing the art again this issue?

Yes
Great summary. Thanks much!

Now that's what I'm talking about.
I think with Sally getting her old SatAM/Mid 90's style back is part of what Ian mentioned when he became the head writer, he said (I think he said this or something like it), that he wanted to get the comic somewhat back to the way it was in the mid 90's pre-post 50th issiues, and That includes returning some characters back to their old desgins and personalities.
But since I don't have the issiue yet, that's just my take on it from what I've seen posted here in the past few days.
i'd like a direct quote of that bw. cuz personally it doesn't sound like something he would say
Ian did'nt say it. This is'nt the first time BW's claimed such things.
I said I think he said, cause I'm really not sure what he said, but it may or may not have sounded like that.
Quote:

i know that, ian outed him on it already.
but yeah, again i don't think ian would say that.
I just got the issue the other day.
Purdy good issue through and through! Very touching with the Snively/hope bit! All I can say is "The Servants are the Seven Chaos!"
^ Mm? It's "servers," not "servants."
Got the issue the day after my birthday on the third...it was nice to see Bunnie use her arm cannon for the first time in like, forever. But if you ask me, Eggman's big bad battle suit went down way too easily. I know Ian probably wanted to demonstrate that teamwork ultimately trumps all...but...(what's that odd sound in my head? Oh, yeah...it's the Sonic Heroes theme! Thank goodness Johnny Gioeli sings that song...he's probably the only one capable of making such saccharine lyrics sound cool)...uh, anyway...what was I saying? Oh, yeah...the battle suit...yeah, it went down way too easily.
At least we know what happenned to Hope. I'd believed she didn't actually follow through on Snively's advice and leave for Station Square. That would have been more interesting had she not left and instead ended up in her uncle's hands...which still could happen.
By the way, what hairstyle are we talking about, the ol' pink Sally hairstyle or the SatAM hairstyle, I know this sounds stupid to ask, but I'm just curious.
THAT'S BETTER!
I like that format alot.
Yes, Tails parents = I wanna kill them off.
Energak= YAY..I wanna see a floating head just appear in the city. Nicole'll be all "o.o OMGZ!"
Seriously, like what kinda Duracell does Nicole run on?
And the hairstyle-I'm thinking Pre-Endgame SATAM hairstyle {I say pre-endgame, but its really like post-issue 13?}
I believe I remember reading about Ken saying something about bringing the comic back to the way it was. Ian did tell me in an e-mail that he was planning on Sally being more involved with the Freedom Fighters, which has happend. While we are on the subject, there are those characters I would not like to have go back to their old personalities, like Antione. With Sally, I don't see this as going back to her old personality as much as focusing more on her freedom fighter role.
so you want antoine to be a coward and completely undo all of the development he's gone through?
Quote:

I don't remember any previews for this issue. Can some one post the cover/synopsis thing?
Edit :Never mind. I found them. It took me almost two hours. Well, here they are. Along with the first three page-if you want to see them.
One of the funniest lines:
Nack- Oh, for pity's sake! How many times am I going to get thrown into a stinkin' cell by those @#$%* freedom fighters!
Nack, what dirty mouth you have.
I'm waiting for my own copy to arrive, but two things:
1. It was WAAAAAAY back in S130, at the end of the Tossed in Space arc, that long-haired Sally made her debut. It seemed like a ridiculous idea at the time. As I said, Sally-with-long-hair doesn't work in the context of action. She needed to get back to the G. I. Jane short hair look (OK, maybe not THAT short).
2. FINALLY the Hope subplot is revisited. She was basically shoved off into the wings and has been waiting around all this time to do something. I didn't care for the way Ian handled her absence. She had every reason to stay in Knothole and no reason to seek out the Station Squares, but at least the best Ian had her do was give a definite Maybe. Here's hoping Ian's got a handle on writing for her in the interim. The character still has too much potential.
Quote:

oh... gotcha
btw did they ever resolve the whole "overlanders are poisoned" thing? wasn't hope poisoned too?
Dr. Quack has hinted that Sonic's exposure to the power rings has given Sonic a special healing factor.
I actually don't have much to say on this issue. The cover isn't as striking as last issue's (in fact, it feels rather plain), and the story didn't leave me with any excitment nor emotions on parts that were suppose to play that part. I also think Mammoth Mogul and his posse's arrival were just random, Nack's comment was funny though.
Sally's generally the only thing that's worthy of such emotions, though in my opinion, I would have loved to have seen her hair actually getting cut, whether it be an FFIX--actually, symbolic hair cutting--parody or not. Though I do love the symbolism and how Ian continouly remembers Bunnie's prime reasons for joining the Freedom Fighters...and that Sally finally seems to have gotten over her emotional rollar coaster or what she implies. Now let's see if she keeps it. Not to mention she cut off that dang long hair that I've ALWAYS disliked on her.
And is it just me or do I suspect Charmy's memory loss is Ian's way of possible deteroriating his brain so that he acts like...well, a 6 year old like his video game counterpart.
Yeah! Just got the issue. Another pleasuring issue, I must say.
For clarification purposes, Sally is back to her short hair style from post #130.

You're right Neo. I also sense that, and I don't like it. They turned Charmy from a well-behaved lad, to a bumbling bumblebee, saying such strage lines.
Dr. Quack-How many fingers am I holding up? *Shows two*
Charmy-Sure! Erm... one, two, buckle my shoe! Hee!
*looks at Espio*
Didn't you used to be purple?
Espio-I'm a chameleon.
Charmy-So?
>_> Don't make Charmy like that. I hated what they did to Vector, (crocodiles are supposed to be skinny) and now Charmy is turning into his SEGA form. This better not be a trend. Next, Mighty and Ray will vanish for good. 😛
Yes, heaven forbid the characters be familiar to new readers who play the games.
I really liked this issue, and I'm glad there's finally a "status quo" by the end of the issue. Even if it only lasts until the next one. Everything just kept flowing into each other without stopping since like issue 172. I agree that they need to leave Charmy alone and quit trying to Sega-fy everything. I didn't really get the exchange with Espio about him being purple though...My favorite part was the interaction between Hope and Snively, I thought that was pretty cool. He seemed to be really moved to tears by the shame he's helped bring to their family, and I hope this plot thread continues at some point. I also liked Bean's loony behavior and Nack's frustration at being imprisoned YET AGAIN! My only nitpick was on like the fourth page when Elias is addressing everyone, "Amy" was clearly drawn to be Sonic's mother, and colored incorrectly. Oh well. Can't wait to see who the new Enerjak is gonna be, cuz Dr. F sure doesn't seem to give a darn about Dimitri. Next few issues look great!

If that were the case, we wouldn't have had Eggman breaking Sonic like Bane or Tails blowing up at Sonic...
I like both Charmy personalities, so the change doesn't matter to me. I wonder how Bean will react know that someone is taking his "crazy idiot" thunder.
CHARMY: Yeah! Time to rock and roll!
BEAN: -grr- There can be only one! *brandishes sword*
ANTOINE: *whimpers* ...I needed zat to feel manly. ;__;
You know some people may wonder what the fuss is all about with Sally getting her old hairstyle back. Well to those that are new to comic, the reason for the fuss, is the fact that this is the way we the long time fans have always knew her to be.
What I mean is she had this hairstyle long before #130 where it decided to give her long hair, for she had the short hair back in the days of SatAM and pre-130, sure the artists made it at times look like her hair was getting longer, until it became that way in 130.
But Ian Flynn being a long time fan himself knew that his fellow long-time fans probably didn't like the new style she had and decieded that when he took over as the head writer that when the time and the story was right enough he would give her it back, thus marking her return to the Sally we have always known and loved during the days of SatAM and Pre-130. And the story that began 175 was the right story and 177 was the right time to do it.
And I wouldn't be surprised if he himself wanted to see her back to her old hairstyle and personality.
So I hope that helps explain why the change accorred.
-God Bless.

I must've not read far back on this post cuz' I don't remember anyone asking about Sally's hair cut. *shrugs*
That said, I also forgot to mention I absolutely loved Hope's role in here. Short, but Ian seems to be showing just WHAT her purpose is (which the comic failed to explain earlier). Seeing Snivley of all people get teary eyed over her is wonderful. Great artwork there.
