I love Vector's expression on the third page.
And I'm growing kind of fond of Lien-Da; saying she won't be embarrassed by a lesser lifeform when she's basically a slave of Dr. Eggman. That and the whole pinning to be Grandmaster thing. At this rate Dimitiri's going to outlive her ... and that will just be hilariously tragic.

I don't know why, but I got a real kick out of that line.

Give it time. The penciler is new and this is her debut issue.
It's not bad at al overall in any case.
[sigh] Ray is looking a little naked without that win of a jacket.
Though on topic. I do like how bright those pages looked. I maybe it's the lines or the colors, but something just "POPS" when looking at those pages.

I actually don't think that Sally looks too bad - I don't see any glaring flaws or any small ones that I haven't seen from an established artist - but I do think that the excuse that they're breaking a new artist in doesn't quite hold water when they're using a fan artist.

But she's not a fan artist. She's a general comic artist. She's done sketchcards for Marvel and DC and such.
She used to read the comic back in the day, but she didn't regularly pump out Sonic-themed stuff like Dubs or Dawn Best did.
I stand corrected - although even if she's not tried to make a career out of Sonic fro the get-go, I'd still class her as a fan artist with experience of drawing the characters for fun, rather than because she's paid to and otherwise has no idea about the characters or continuity.
The example I always use is the artist years back who actually chastised the fans for pointing out that he'd only drawn Tails with one tail, and said that he couldn't understand what the problem was or the fuss was about - an artist who's cut their teeth as a fan would know better than that.
Personally, I don't think that Sally looks too bad there - somewhere between Ron Lim and Steven Butler's look. I'd rather see that as a debut than what I saw as rather bloated heads and odd proportions from Matt Herms - although he wasn't quite as bad in 197 as he was in his debut.
I like the look of Renae's Sally, a bit more feminine than she's looked for quite a while. I love Tracy's artwork, and he's yet to make a character look bad, but Sally bugs me just a little sometimes (it's mainly that 'eyebrow line' thing she has - it's just sort of emphasized these days which looks kinda ugly to me). Sally has been drawn quite different to her SatAM look, or like she appeared in the earlier days of the comic (Spaz could draw a great Sal) for years now - I'm for evolution of the characters and I appreciate different artists having their own style, but sometimes I miss her earlier look.
I'm just so happy with the book these days. They get a great writer and great artists in and now finally an awesome colorist (Herms - another awesome atrist, but please keep him doing coloring as well, it makes the art more vibrant and lively). My gripes are about pretty small things nowadays.

Pricless. I hope the DL is Free of Eggmans Control (& Bombs) post 200. But I wonder if they ever do get there freedom back would they GO back to Trying to take over angel island. OR would they go protect the Remaining Echindna Population in Albion. (I mean it would make since since it seems the Frost faction accapted enerjaks "Gift". Cause I havn't seen any legionars using the Frost factions Design in a while.
(P.s. My avatar is a frost fation Legionar.)

I remember in a Backstory a few issues back they said there were members of the Dark Legion working among the other survivors to rebuild Albion. It could be The Frost Legion following Remmington or a mix of the Frost and Flame groups.
Have to admit I'll miss the temporary " partnership " of the Dark Egg Legion when it finally dissolves whether it be under Eggman since he's going out the door for a little while apparently or under Snively / Regina a while later. An semi-organic army seems more fun to watch and possibly write for then an army of robots for whatever reason.
I think the members of the Dark Legion who were rebuilding Albion were the ones who accepted Enerjak's "gift" of removing their cybernetic enhancements.

between ron lim and steven butler? that's pretty extreme don't you think?
I don't think so - they both try to use a very feminine, detailed and very willowly version of Sally, even if they do it with varying degrees of success.
i suppose you are right, that they both try and give a human style to it, i'm sure it's hard to break away from it after you've done marvel or dc, but ron lim.....ugh... his artwork frustrates me.
You know I'm wonder if Ian will ever come out with a "How to draw Sonic comics" Book. That would be Great, ecspcially for peole like me who can only draw Ducks & Robots. Seriously I can't draw any sonic charcter at all I tried to draw tails the other day, looked like it been drawn by a 2 year old. I think that would be somthing great to go along with the upcoming sonic encyclopedia.
Back on topic. how many of you think that Regina Will appear at the end of this issue?

That would be more up Tracy's alley, I think.
One of the things I do hope to see in the encyclopedia are Model Sheets for at least the major characters and possibly the supporting cast. I always wanted them to publish something similar to the " Spaz Sketchbook " that was printed about 60-70 issues ago. Since Tracy put some references and concept pieces on his DA it made me kind of hopeful.

I'm thinking #199 either right before or immediately after the defeat.
I love the Chaotix in this preview, I hope Renae draws Knuckles upcoming SU story.
...other than the fact that Sally's eyes seem a bit bigger than normal (May be just me), I don't mind the art yet.
